[Superman] Chapter 153: In the Vast Darkness... Green Light Shines!
🕑 Added 2024-06-22 05:51:50 +0000 UTCA green arrow swiftly sliced through the night sky, aiming towards Captain America, who was blocking Aquaman on the ground.
However, just as the arrow was about to hit Captain America,
A black arrow shot from the side, emerging from the darkness of the night.
It precisely hit the middle of the first arrow, instantly snapping it in half.
"Thanks, Barton!"
Facing the sudden attack, Captain America only just reacted at this moment, expressing gratitude to Hawkeye hidden in the shadows.
"You're welcome, Captain. Focus on dealing with that guy. Leave the rest to me!"
On the top of a nearby skyscraper, Hawkeye slowly lowered his distinctive metal bow. His sharp eyes, keen as an eagle's, gazed slowly towards the adjacent high-rise building.
At the same time, atop that high-rise building stood Green Arrow, who had already turned his gaze in their direction.
The gazes of the two converged in the night sky, as if sparking a flickering electricity.
"This universe seems quite interesting!"
Even from a hundred meters apart, Green Arrow could clearly see the figure in the darkness, sharing many similarities with himself.
A slight smile appeared on the corner of his mouth, but his eyes gradually became sharper.
Suddenly, almost at the same time, arrows were drawn from their quivers behind them. They simultaneously aimed and shot their arrows with nearly identical posture and speed.
As the arrows flew, they both swiftly ran towards each other.
Ping!
Two arrows tore through the night, their tips colliding with unparalleled precision in midair, their immense force causing them to break simultaneously.
Immediately after, as if by an unspoken agreement, both took out arrows again and aimed at each other.
Swish!
However, this time, their arrows did not collide like before. Instead, they passed each other's arrows and aimed directly at each other's bodies.
Both of them instinctively dodged each other's incoming arrows, simultaneously showing a serious expression in their eyes.
In this brief exchange, both felt that the other's archery skills were equal to their own.
At the same time, a mutual respect began to grow between them.
Next, rather than hastily shooting arrows again as before, they rushed towards each other.
Upon reaching the edge of the rooftop, without hesitation, they leaped into the air.
As their bodies plummeted rapidly, each pulled out a special arrow from their quivers and shot them towards each other.
The ends of these arrows were attached to thin metal wires.
When the arrows hit the facade of the adjacent skyscraper, they firmly lodged there.
Using the steel wire ropes as aids, both swung towards each other.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
As they were about to make contact in midair, they used their longbows as weapons, attacking and defending each other continuously.
The special metal bows, colliding, produced dazzling sparks.
They only made physical contact for less than three seconds before gravity forced them apart.
In their second melee combat, aside from archery, neither managed to gain the upper hand.
Both possessed melee combat abilities far beyond ordinary humans.
After exchanging positions on the skyscrapers, without hesitation, they followed the extension of the steel wires and landed on the ground.
Immediately, one charged towards the other while simultaneously firing another special arrow.
Ping!
This time, the arrows collided once more in midair.
Boom!
But just as they collided, they exploded violently, kicking up a huge cloud of smoke!
It turned out they were both using special explosive arrows.
Despite the speed of their charges, they did not pause. They charged directly into the area enveloped by the smoke.
Even with their eyes blinded by the smoke, they relied on their acute hearing to continue their confrontation.
The sound of metal bows colliding incessantly echoed around them, making it seem difficult to determine a victor.
...
At the same time, on the other side, Captain America once again found himself in battle with Aquaman.
However, despite having physical abilities and combat skills far beyond ordinary humans, Captain America was ultimately unable to evenly match Aquaman.
He could only continue defending against Aquaman's superhuman strength.
Until a figure in tight black leather suddenly attacked from behind Aquaman, joining the fight, the two of them barely managed to withstand Aquaman's onslaught together.
They seemed to frequently cooperate against their enemies, displaying a high degree of mutual understanding.
As Captain America used his shield to block Aquaman's trident,
Another figure suddenly burst into action, landing a powerful kick on Aquaman's chest. The strength, far beyond human limits, forced Aquaman to step back several paces before finally withstanding the blow.
"You've angered me!"
A flicker of anger and savagery finally crossed Aquaman's eyes.
He slowly raised his trident, swinging it through the air.
"What's he doing?"
Black Widow and Captain America watched Aquaman warily, puzzled by his actions.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Suddenly, just as the two were on high alert,
As Aquaman continued to swing his trident, the surrounding air seemed to stir with a peculiar force.
The next moment, some nearby fire hydrants suddenly burst open.
Countless streams of water, as if drawn by a special power, converged from all directions towards Aquaman.
"Is this guy a mutant?"
Captain America and Black Widow exchanged a glance, their eyes showing concern.
They had seen plenty of information on mutants at S.H.I.E.L.D., including those who could control water.
"Let me show you the power of the ocean!"
As if an endless river, the converging water around Aquaman formed into a water dragon. With an angry roar, Aquaman slammed his trident forcefully into the ground.
The water, like a surging wave, instantly transformed into a raging torrent, rushing towards the two.
"Run!"
Although the water seemed gentle, a rapidly advancing flood could still devastate a large city.
Even though Aquaman's control over the water at this moment couldn't produce a full-scale flood or tsunami, his ability to manipulate water was not to be underestimated, and it was not something an ordinary person could withstand.
As the waves surged forward, Captain America and Black Widow turned and ran, desperately seeking shelter from the approaching deluge.
However, compared to the speed of the waves, even with their utmost effort, they couldn't escape the onslaught of the water.
Just as their bodies were about to be swept away like leaves in the wind,
"What's that? A meteor?"
Many people couldn't believe their eyes as they looked up at the sky, seeing a meteor streaking rapidly downwards.
"No, it's not a meteor, it's a person!"
However, they quickly realized it wasn't a meteor but a person—a fiery figure burning intensely!
Boom!
The fiery figure landed instantly behind Captain America and Black Widow, who were about to be engulfed by the huge waves.
A scorching heat emanated from the figure.
"Who is he?"
Captain America seemed stunned by the scene before him, forgetting to continue running. In fact, at this moment, he felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity towards the figure before him.
"This..."
Black Widow also looked shocked as she stared at the fiery figure, unsure of their identity.
"Captain, nice to meet you. You used to be my idol!"
"But right now, let's deal with what's in front of us first!"
Amidst the blazing flames,
The voice sounded out.
The next moment, without hesitation, the figure turned to face the rushing water.
Immediately, the flames on his body seemed to intensify.
Sizzle! Sizzle! Sizzle!
The water surrounding him was instantly evaporated by the intense heat, emitting a misty vapor.
Suddenly, as the figure raised both hands,
A gigantic dragon made of flames soared out, darting through the rushing water.
Under the intense evaporation of steam, the torrential flood, like a small-scale flood or tsunami, swiftly dissipated.
In less than a dozen seconds, it was completely evaporated into nothingness.
...
*At the same time, as the flames continued to evaporate the water,*
A figure in the sky darted back and forth between skyscrapers and buildings, relying on continuously shooting webs.
Behind her, another figure wielding a long sword and shield swung a golden lasso, chasing after her.
"Little one, are you just going to run?"
Undoubtedly, Wonder Woman, the valiant Amazon warrior who had lived for centuries and was a descendant of the gods,
With her divine powers and strength, was far beyond what ordinary people could withstand.
Even Gwen, who had gained formidable strength after a mutation, couldn't truly defeat her.
After a series of clashes, she strategically retreated.
However, as Gwen retreated, she glimpsed a dazzling flame in the distance, resembling a fire outbreak.
Even though she was being pursued by enemies at the moment, her inner goodness compelled her to change direction and head towards the source.
Yet upon arriving at the scene, Gwen discovered that things were not as she had imagined—a serious fire outbreak.
Instead, it was a figure ablaze with flames, a figure she found very familiar.
"Mr. Richards, is that you?"
This moment filled her with excitement because she knew well what this figure represented here.
Without hesitation, she landed before the fiery person using her webs, her tone full of pleasant surprise.
As fellow members of Steller Tech Labs, Gwen's identity allowed her to interact with the company's higher-ups.
Moreover, in some experiments, she had followed Peter and met Mr. Reed Richards, who possessed the ability to transform into flames.
"Hehe, it's you. Are you here to stop this crisis too?"
Looking at the figure before him, Reed naturally knew her true identity. He slowly extinguished the flames on his body, revealing his true face, and smiled at Gwen.
"Yes, Mr. Richards..."
Gwen nodded, then hesitated slightly before asking, "Um, has he...?"
"You're asking about Superman, right? He didn't come with me, but..."
Seeing Gwen's seemingly disappointed expression, Reed added, "Don't worry, he'll come!"
"Arthur? You're here too?"
At the same time Gwen found her companion, Wonder Woman also saw Aquaman, who looked shocked at the fiery figure not far away.
Without hesitation, she landed beside him, asking in surprise,
"Diana? Have you seen Bruce and Hal? They need our help!"
Aquaman also looked at Wonder Woman with surprise, but in an instant, he remembered other comrades facing crises, and a trace of urgency crossed his face.
"What's going on here? Besides us, how many other comrades have arrived in this strange city?"
Diana looked solemnly at this unfamiliar city, carefully considering why this situation had occurred.
"I don't know, and I don't know if Clark has come along. If he's here, the Justice League will definitely not fear anyone..."
At this moment, Aquaman couldn't help but think of the majestic figure known as the god among men.
If he were here, he would never watch his comrades face this crisis alone.
"Even if Clark isn't here, we will never give up hope!"
But Diana didn't answer, instead speaking with even greater determination.
"That's right, we will absolutely not give up hope!"
A figure descended from the sky—it was Green Arrow, who had just left Hawkeye's team.
"However, we are currently in a weak position, in a strange city, without any form of support..."
Despite their hopeful hearts, they had to face the dilemma of the moment.
Although they didn't know how many comrades had come to this world together,
At this moment, they undoubtedly faced great difficulties, with their comrades not gathered together.
This city and the entire world were very unfamiliar to them.
Even the people who originally supported their righteous actions were no longer supporting them at this moment.
It was as if the entire world had abandoned them.
...
"Although you do not appear to have actively invaded our actions, perhaps in your own world, you are also heroes guarding justice..."
"But at this moment, you are just invaders who suddenly broke into our world!"
"We will act with the most honorable, the most noble, and even at any cost, to protect our world!"
"So, sorry, at this moment, besides surrendering without resistance, you have no other choice!"
"We will never allow anyone to destroy our city, to ruin our world!"
As Green Arrow and others were contemplating how to break the current predicament,
Reed and others had already joined Captain America and slowly walked towards Aquaman and the others. Standing in the middle, Captain America spoke slowly without hesitation, his tone filled with unwavering conviction.
"We are also very sorry for suddenly intruding here, but this was not our intention either. We are also pondering why such a thing happened."
"We hope you can give us a chance to seek the truth. We will definitely explain..."
Facing the approach of Captain America and others, Wonder Woman stepped forward, seemingly wanting to explain that they did not intentionally invade this world.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a figure resembling lightning streaked swiftly from afar and instantly stopped in the midst of the Justice League.
Only to see a figure clad in red and gold tight-fitting battle armor, emitting faint sparks of electricity, appearing beside Green Lantern, supported by the Flash.
"Barry? You... Wait, what happened to Hal?"
Seeing the sudden appearance of the figure, Aquaman and others were instantly filled with joy.
But looking at Green Lantern, who was weakly supported by the Flash, made others instantly furious.
Especially Aquaman, whose entire being once again showed an incredibly fierce and angry demeanor.
"What have you done?"
Aquaman stepped forward, the trident in his hand pointing towards Captain America and others, full of anger.
"It's okay, he just exhausted his energy, he's a bit weak, that's all!"
The Flash gently placed the weakened Green Lantern on the ground.
"Hal..."
Looking at the Green Lantern's power ring, gradually dimming, the determination in everyone's eyes couldn't help but show.
"Sorry, our Justice League will never surrender!"
At this moment, everyone's hearts were filled with endless fighting spirit, not only for themselves but to protect their comrades.
"In the broad daylight, in the pitch-black night..."
"Evil hides, fearing my light..."
"The villains and traitors, tremble at my might..."
"The Green Lantern's light, forever bright!"
As a faint voice slowly chanted, the power ring, which was gradually dimming, suddenly emitted a bright green glow.
Boom!
The green light surged into the sky, as if illuminating the entire city.
Crackle!
Meanwhile, in the sky, at the same moment, thunderous explosions resounded as if in response!
...
