[Superman] Chapter 152: You Have Failed This City!
🕑 Added 2024-06-22 05:50:49 +0000 UTCIn the sky, a jet resembling a Black Hawk swiftly flew above the clouds.
"Charles, is the crisis in New York City really that serious? It requires all of us to go there for support."
Inside the jet, almost all members of the X-Men were present.
Even Magneto, who was dealing with affairs in the mutant nation, was called over to rush to New York for support.
"The situation is indeed very serious. This universe is once again facing an invasion from other unknown universes."
"If we can't resolve this crisis, we might lose this universe, lose the new home we've just established..."
To Magneto's inquiry, Professor X was extremely serious. Through information from Nick Fury, he knew this crisis was another monumental threat to the survival of the entire universe.
Even the threat they faced together against Thanos previously paled in comparison to this current crisis.
"What? Lose the new home we've built together? Absolutely not! I've labored so hard to finally establish a true homeland for mutants, where all mutants can have the rights and treatment they deserve."
"I will not allow anyone to destroy the hard-earned peace we've achieved!"
Though mutants came from other universes, they were now united and had a strong sense of belonging in this universe.
After all, in this universe, they received unprecedented respect and hard-won peace.
Mutants didn't need to face the gazes of countless humans that treated them like animals or freaks.
Undoubtedly, this universe was like paradise to them.
"Yes, we won't allow anyone to attempt to destroy our new home!"
Hearing how grave the situation was, that they might lose the new home they had just established, the X-Men members were instantly filled with righteous indignation.
"Alright, everyone, we must do our best to protect our homeland."
Professor X looked at the determined faces of his team, all ready to fight for their home, and a hint of relief crossed his eyes.
In previous universes, he and Magneto had been willing to confront each other, seeking equal rights and freedoms for mutants as humans.
But now, in this universe, it had been achieved, and he cherished it more than anyone else.
"However, facing another universe filled with strangers, we must not underestimate the situation."
"Hank, play the information from SWORD for everyone."
Soon, Professor X's expression turned serious again as he addressed Beast in the front row.
"Yes, Professor!"
Beast didn't hesitate and swiftly manipulated the controls in front of him.
Soon, a virtual projection started playing in front of everyone.
"An individual in battle armor with advanced technology weapons and formidable combat abilities?"
Quickly, the first segment about Batman's impact data appeared before everyone's eyes.
"Someone with special abilities, capable of controlling a certain unique power?"
"A female warrior wielding a longsword and shield, with a physique stronger than Spider-Woman's?"
"A muscular man wielding a trident, capable of manipulating water flows?"
"And a figure dressed as a clown, constantly grinning and laughing?"
"These individuals... seem quite unusual!"
As they rushed to support New York, everyone was quickly learning about the adversaries they would face next.
...
Meanwhile, amidst the intense chaos in New York City:
"Attention all residents of New York City, please immediately return to your homes and avoid lingering on the streets to prevent potential attacks!"
"Trust in our heroes and law enforcement who will steadfastly protect civilians and our city!"
"If you are injured, please call for rescue immediately. We will dispatch assistance to your location as soon as possible..."
"Finally, let us pray together that this crisis will end soon, and for the safe return of our heroes..."
At this moment, with continuous updates from the media, almost all civilians realized the seriousness of the current events and hurried back home.
Even as heroes from two worlds engaged in battle, they tried their best to avoid harming civilians. However, accidents were inevitable, especially in such intense conflicts, making civilian casualties tragically common.
Moreover, not everyone from the DC universe had the same resolve to avoid civilian harm.
Just minutes ago, news arrived that Batman had appeared first and clashed with Spider-Man and Iron Man.
More heroes and even villains from another universe had also arrived in New York City.
As new guardians rushed to New York and unfamiliar beings with new abilities emerged, the entire city instantly became their battlefield.
At this moment, New York City was unexpectedly chaotic, with clashes occurring every few blocks.
For instance, a fierce battle was unfolding right now in Times Square.
A few minutes ago, news reached the Avengers headquarters, and Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and others arrived to provide support.
Captain America's rescue squad was currently working to evacuate those who hadn't managed to escape in time.
Suddenly, a muscular man with a silver trident appeared shirtless in Times Square, blocking the evacuation route for the crowd.
Instantly, this caught the attention of all rescue teams and Captain America.
"Ah! Everyone, run!"
Amidst the civilians' commotion, Captain America rushed forward, standing in front of the muscular man with a serious expression.
He shouted, "Please drop your weapon and surrender immediately, or we will use force against you!"
"Where... am I? Who are you?" Aquaman couldn't help but feel puzzled, looking at the individuals in front of him who seemed highly cautious.
He didn't understand why he had suddenly appeared here, surrounded by a group of strangers.
The next moment, feeling the unfamiliar surroundings, Aquaman's expression grew serious as he observed the scene.
Soon, on a nearby screen, he spotted a familiar figure.
"Is that... Bruce? He's here too?"
"Damn it, who is the guy fighting him?"
Watching the screen, Aquaman saw a figure in battle armor, suddenly wielding a glowing rope similar to Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth, entangling Batman.
Aquaman's face instantly tensed.
How could he sit idly by while his comrade was under attack?
"Get out of my way, I'm going to help my friend!"
Anxious, Aquaman tried to break through the encirclement formed by Captain America and the others to assist Batman.
"Hmph, you're all in this together after all!"
Agent Langlo of S.H.I.E.L.D. Tactical Team looked at the fierce Aquaman and his words, confirming instantly that this muscular man was aligned with those causing chaos in New York.
He then turned to Captain America and said, "Captain, let's take action and restrain him first."
"Langlo, wait. Let me understand their situation first!"
Captain America keenly sensed that the situation was not simple and wanted to gather more information from Aquaman.
However, as Aquaman watched Batman's increasingly dire situation on the screen, he could no longer wait.
He charged directly towards a gap in the encirclement, attempting to break through Captain America and the others.
Yet, as elite agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., they wouldn't let Aquaman escape so easily.
Soon, the closest two agents swiftly blocked Aquaman's path.
"I'm sorry about this, everyone!"
Aquaman looked at the agents blocking his escape with a hint of urgency and apology in his expression.
Without hesitation, he clenched his fist and struck one of the agents.
Though Aquaman held back, his Atlantean royal strength was far beyond what an ordinary person could withstand.
In an instant, the agent was sent flying, crashing into a car parked by the roadside and leaving a large dent.
Aquaman hesitated in his eyes, but his body didn't pause, immediately clenching his fist to strike the other agent.
Knowing he couldn't withstand Aquaman's strength, the agent attempted to dodge the punch.
However, Aquaman's speed was too fast, and the fist was about to strike the agent's chest.
...
Swish!
A sudden sound of breaking the air echoed.
Looking at the circular shield that appeared in front of his fist out of nowhere, Aquaman couldn't help but show a hint of surprise in his eyes.
Clang!
With a loud noise, the shield was knocked away, and the agent took the opportunity to dodge Aquaman's attack.
However, at this moment, Aquaman didn't have time to focus on the agent because he keenly sensed a figure rushing towards him.
As Captain America charged towards Aquaman, arcs of silver electricity flashed on the bracer of his left arm.
Instantly, as if strongly attracted, the previously knocked-away shield flew back, landing back on Captain America's arm.
"Huh? This is not scientific!"
Watching the scene before him, Aquaman couldn't help but exclaim it was beyond science, his expression also showing seriousness.
Without just using his fists anymore, Aquaman grabbed his trident and swung it at Captain America.
Up to this moment, Aquaman still didn't want to really kill these people who blocked him.
Bang!
This process occurred in just an instant.
The shield and the trident collided explosively, unleashing an extremely terrifying force.
It even generated a shockwave that sent the surrounding agents wanting to support flying.
Captain America, who fought against Aquaman, was not exempted, despite the shield absorbing most of the kinetic energy, plus the peak human body quality.
Couldn't resist Aquaman's powerful attacks.
The entire person retreated several steps before finally completely neutralizing that strong force.
"Damn it, guy!"
Langlo was similarly shaken off by the powerful shockwave, but he climbed up first and then raised his weapon without any hesitation.
Immediately aimed straight at Aquaman, pulling the trigger.
Bang!
Instantly, the bullet tore the air and flew towards Aquaman's arm.
Ding!
However, facing the bullet's attack, Aquaman unexpectedly blocked it with his trident, letting out a spark.
"How could this happen? Is it a coincidence?"
The agents around couldn't help but feel incredulous. This guy could actually use a weapon to block bullets!
"Everyone, shoot now!"
Langlo, who blocked the bullet, instantly became angry and gestured for other agents to open fire.
Da da da!
The sound of gunfire broke out the next moment.
However, Aquaman was already prepared. He quickly rotated his trident in his hands, creating a blur.
Ding ding ding...
The bullets flying toward him were all fully blocked.
"This is impossible!"
Everyone felt incredulous.
"Now, it's my turn!"
As the gunfire stopped, Aquaman was finally moved to anger from his heart!
Without any hesitation, both hands gripped the trident, fiercely smashed toward the ground!
Boom!
In the moment the trident touched the ground, it was as if a sudden mini-quake had erupted.
The hard road surface instantly cracked, countless spider-web-like cracks spreading hundreds of meters in all directions.
The horrifying shockwave was more powerful than the last time, directly flipping countless agents tens of meters away, crashing to the ground and struggling to get up.
...
“You brought this upon yourselves!”
Sweeping his gaze over the agents lying on the ground, the anger on Aquaman’s face dissipated completely. He was ready to leave and support Batman.
“Sorry, I haven’t fallen yet!”
Suddenly, the shield flew towards Aquaman again, stopping him from leaving.
“Annoying guy!”
A hint of impatience flashed in Aquaman’s eyes.
At this moment, the image on the big screen suddenly changed. It no longer broadcasted the battle between Batman and Tony but started showing Spider-Man fighting the Green Lantern.
Moreover, the broadcaster seemed adept at capturing key moments.
The scene being broadcasted was right when Spider-Man, after being chased by the Green Lantern for a long time, finally found an opportunity to counterattack.
Spider-Man seized the chance. As he passed between two metal girders, he used his web to pull down the two girders, each weighing several tons, to crush the Green Lantern behind him.
The Green Lantern quickly conjured a shield to block the falling girders.
However, Spider-Man had already seized this flaw.
He slipped through the gap between the girders and attacked the Green Lantern.
Boom!
The Green Lantern’s shield shattered, and his body was slammed to the ground by Spider-Man.
“Damn it, Hal is also here and needs support.”
Seeing this scene made Aquaman even more anxious.
On a nearby high-rise building.
“Although I don’t know why they’re fighting, but…”
A figure in a green coat with a green hood, watching the screen and the obstructed Aquaman, finally made a decision.
He slowly gripped the bow in his hand, took out a green arrow from his back, and nocked it.
Then, he aimed at Captain America on the ground.
After pausing for a moment and lowering the arrow slightly, he whispered as he released the bowstring!
Swish!
“You… have failed this city!”
