[Superman] Chapter 151: Heroes from the DC Universe, Chaos in New York
🕑 Added 2024-06-15 05:56:37 +0000 UTC"Thanks, Hal!"
With the assistance of the green hand, the out-of-control jet slowly descended to the ground, causing minimal damage.
"Bruce, what exactly is going on?"
Hal Jordan, his suit glowing with green light, landed beside the jet and asked Batman, who was emerging from it.
"I'm not entirely sure. We seem to have arrived in a strange world..."
Seeing a familiar figure in this unfamiliar world, Batman finally felt somewhat relieved.
"What? A strange world? How is that possible... Did something go wrong with Cyborg's research?"
The Green Lantern looked around at the unfamiliar world, shocked by such an absurd situation.
"And what's the deal with that guy?"
Still in disbelief, the Green Lantern glanced at Spider-Man, who was struggling under the jet, his immense strength even bending the metal arms.
"Not sure. I just arrived in this world, and this annoying guy showed up..."
"However, he's very strong. Be cautious of the people in this world..."
In fact, even Batman, who always had a Plan B, had few backup plans for suddenly ending up in a strange universe.
"Damn, it seems we've been mistaken for invaders by this world's guardians..."
The Green Lantern was about to continue when a dazzling light suddenly shone from behind.
"Watch out, move!"
Both of them jumped to the sides, rolling on the ground in a disheveled manner.
Boom!
A crimson energy beam landed exactly where they had been standing moments before.
The violent energy, akin to a missile, exploded with terrifying force, sweeping towards the two not far away.
"Damn it!"
The Green Lantern's ring glowed with a bright green light, and the next moment, two green transparent shields appeared in the air, blocking the explosion for him and Batman.
Most of the fearsome blast wave was absorbed by the shields, kicking up a cloud of dust that obscured everything on the ground.
However, Tony didn't stop and rushed towards the dust cloud. He didn't rely on the "No smoke without fire" principle but used the thermal imaging technology in his suit, which allowed him to see through the dust.
Bang!
A metallic collision echoed within the dust cloud.
The next moment, two figures shot out of the cloud, soaring into the sky.
Faced with the two sudden enemies, Tony unhesitatingly chose Batman as his target.
For some reason, he harbored a peculiar animosity towards this newly appeared figure.
Meanwhile, as Tony and Batman's battlefield moved away, the dust on the ground hadn't entirely settled.
"Bruce, are you okay?"
The dust obscured Green Lantern's vision, and without a response from Batman, he started to worry.
He then used his ring to create a green hurricane, trying to disperse the dust.
However, a shadow suddenly emerged from the cloud.
The next moment, a figure burst through the dust, rushing towards Green Lantern.
"Another one playing Green Lantern? What kind of special organization are you?"
It was Spider-Man, who had just freed himself from the metal arms, now charging at Green Lantern without hesitation.
"Playing? No! I'm not playing anyone!"
While loudly replying, Green Lantern used his ring to create a shield in front of him.
Crack!
Spider-Man's powerful punch shattered the shield, dispersing it into the air.
"Damn it, Bruce was right. We need to be careful of the people in this world!"
Hal was stunned that his shield couldn't withstand Spider-Man's punch. He was thrown back but managed to regain control.
"Forget it, let's subdue this guy first!"
Hal steadied himself in the air and decided not to explain his origin. He charged at Spider-Man on the ground, gathering green energy to create a giant fist in the air, smashing it down.
"Oh my god, a fist the size of a sandbag!"
Seeing the giant fist, Spider-Man didn't take it head-on but instead shot out webs, leaping out of the way.
Bang!
The giant fist hit the ground, leaving a huge crater.
"Hmph, where do you think you're going?"
Green Lantern watched as Spider-Man swung between the buildings and gave chase.
...
"Spider-Man, Spider-Man!"
"Does whatever a spider can..."
As Spider-Man continued to dart through the skyscrapers, evading the relentless attacks from behind, his phone suddenly rang in his pocket.
"What's happening over there? Do you need backup?"
Spider-Man pulled out his phone and saw a cracked screen displaying the icon of a black Spider-Man. Without hesitation, he answered the call.
Before he could speak, a voice came through from the other side.
"I don't know what's going on! Some unfamiliar guys suddenly appeared in our city..."
Spider-Man swiftly spoke while dodging attacks from behind.
"Is it like the last time you suddenly appeared?"
"Yeah, pretty much. They just... wait, are you saying these guys, like me, are from another universe?"
As Spider-Man was responding, he seemed to realize something, exclaiming incredulously.
"Though it's not certain yet, it's highly likely."
"Hold on there, I'll inform my dad and head over to your location right away!"
Click...
The call ended quickly from the other side.
"Damn, why didn't I think of that earlier..."
Spider-Man still hadn't fully recovered from the shocking news.
"Ah! My Phone!!"
As he wasn't paying attention, a green arrow suddenly flew towards him from behind. While he managed to dodge it using his Spider-Sense, his phone wasn't so lucky—it slipped from his grasp and plummeted towards the ground.
...
Meanwhile, across New York City, countless people witnessed the unfolding events.
In the sky, two figures darted through the void, leaving trails of motion, sometimes crashing down to the ground with explosions echoing through several streets.
Between the high-rises, two figures engaged in a high-speed chase.
The pursuing figure emitted attacks with green luminous energy, as if capable of conjuring anything.
"Spider-Man, keep it up! Take down that guy behind you!"
"Hey, don't you think the guy behind Spider-Man looks familiar? Seems like a character from DC comics!"
"Hmph, I only recognize Superman from DC comics. None of the others matter."
"Exactly, and this guy chasing our New York hero Spider-Man is definitely not a good guy!"
Under the massive screens in the streets, crowds gathered, watching blurry footage and discussing non-stop.
Unsurprisingly, due to Superman's widespread fame from DC comics, many recognized the villain chasing Spider-Man as a character from the comics.
Unfortunately, for these people, Superman and Spider-Man were their true icons.
"Is that... Bruce, Hal? Have they also come to this strange city? What's going on?"
"Could the person they're battling be the mastermind behind all this?"
A voluptuous beauty with eye-catching legs and a special lady's battle suit, wielding a longsword and shield, suddenly appeared in the crowd.
Gazing at the screen, her face was filled with surprise.
"Look, it's Spider-Woman! Is she rushing in to provide backup?"
Suddenly, a graceful figure dashed swiftly through the air above the crowd, causing a commotion among the spectators.
"Another strange person? No, I must follow to see what's going on!"
The attractive woman in the crowd wasted no time, producing a shimmering golden lasso seemingly out of nowhere, and swung it.
Like Spider-Woman who had just skimmed over the crowd, she swung the rope towards the distance.
"Who is that woman? So beautiful! And she seems somewhat familiar."
"Looks like a character from DC comics as well..."
"The Lasso of Truth, yes, that's Wonder Woman from the DC universe!"
"What? How is that possible? Are these guys really from the comics? Don't tell me, the comics are invading the real world!"
"No way, this must be a hoax by Coop's Plenary, DC's company... these damn capitalists!"
...
Regardless of how the crowd speculated,
Wonder Woman followed Spider-Woman as they maneuvered between the skyscrapers.
"Hmm? Is she also from another universe?"
With her powerful Spider-Sense, Gwen easily detected the figure trailing behind her.
Upon closer observation, she realized the person seemed to be from another universe as well.
This made her increasingly cautious.
"Let's probe her first!"
Gwen hesitated for a moment, then slowly changed direction towards a more secluded street.
Wonder Woman, following Gwen without hesitation, chased after her.
"Where are you?"
As Diana pursued the figure ahead, she noticed her suddenly change direction, disappearing into a dimly lit alley.
Without hesitation, Diana landed on the ground and followed into the street.
But she didn't find the figure in Spider uniform on the dead-end street.
"There above!"
Suddenly, Diana sensed danger approaching, looked up abruptly, and indeed saw a familiar figure descending from above, feet aiming for her face.
As a courageous Amazon warrior, she raised her shield without fear.
Bang!
Two forces, far exceeding human limits, collided, erupting in a thunderous boom.
The strengths of the two figures seemed evenly matched; Gwen somersaulted in the air and landed on the ground.
Diana was pushed back several steps by the immense force, leaving deep footprints on the hard cobblestone road.
"Who are you people? Why are you invading our universe?"
Gwen slowly raised her head, eyes beneath the mask fixed firmly on Diana, asking seriously.
"Invading your universe? How is that possible! I also don't know what's happening!"
Diana gazed back at Gwen with seriousness, responding slowly.
"If that's the case, I hope you surrender peacefully, don't resist, let us investigate everything..."
Although Diana's reaction made Gwen feel that she didn't harbor much malice, she faced a crisis affecting the entire universe.
In any case, she had to ensure the safety of her own universe, even if it meant causing some distress to the other party.
"Impossible! As a brave warrior of Themyscira, a member of the Justice League, I cannot possibly lay down my arms and surrender!"
However, while Gwen had her concerns, Diana also had her own principles.
"If that's how it is, I'm sorry, but I'll have to defeat you myself!"
Hearing Diana's refusal, Gwen's pupils beneath the mask contracted instantly.
In the next moment, like a swift lynx, she charged towards Diana.
"Ah!"
Diana, equally without hesitation, raised her divine sword and struck her shield, producing crisp sounds that resonated with musical notes, fiercely charging towards Gwen.
In such a pivotal moment, it seemed there was a lack of a stirring battle anthem.
...
Meanwhile, within the entirety of New York City, several figures appeared.
Unsurprisingly, they all hailed from another universe.
They were all acquainted with Batman and Green Lantern, feeling the unfamiliar environment and encountering unfamiliar people.
Perhaps out of necessity, perhaps out of self-defense, the majority of them clashed and collided with the guardians of this world.
In just a few tens of minutes, the whole of New York City descended into complete chaos.
"Hill, what's happening in New York City?"
On Christmas Eve, Nick Fury, who had planned to take a break, unexpectedly faced another crisis and could only reluctantly get up to continue working.
"I'm not sure, Director. From some images uploaded by passersby, it seems a group of people suddenly appeared in New York City."
"They all possess abilities far beyond ordinary humans and are engaging in battles with New York's heroes."
"Captain America and Hawkeye have rushed to provide support!"
"At the moment, the situation is quite intense and has caused massive disruption to New York City. Fortunately, there have been no casualties so far. It seems they deliberately avoid civilian areas during combat."
Hill reported the situation to Nick Fury over the phone while also sending him some newly gathered data.
Tap, tap, tap!
By now, Nick Fury had ascended to the rooftop and without hesitation boarded a helicopter hovering there.
"Continue..."
Once the noise subsided a bit, Nick Fury spoke loudly to Hill on the other end of the line.
"Also, the strangest thing is their attire, which seems to resemble heroes and villains from DC Comics, just like our world's Superman..."
"Some even speculate that perhaps, long ago, comic worlds began invading our reality..."
"Enough of these baseless speculations. Our priority now is to resolve the current issues."
"Furthermore, remember to notify the X-Men to send reinforcements as soon as possible."
Nick Fury stared at the blurry video projection, his expression becoming increasingly grave.
"Perhaps it's necessary to send these images to our Mr. Hand of the SWORD..."
After pondering for a moment, Nick Fury spoke with seriousness.
He had a premonition that this sudden crisis might be as significant as the universe invasion event that shocked the world several months ago.
