[Superman] Chapter 147: Burning the Remnants
🕑 Added 2024-06-02 10:31:59 +0000 UTC"No, spare me!"
Ego never expected that the person before him was not only powerful but even too formidable for his current self to withstand.
The planet covered in divine power shattered completely under his fist.
And the space-time channel he opened couldn't withstand even the aftermath, instantly rupturing and flinging him out.
At this moment, there was almost no possibility of escape!
Facing Peter, who was preparing to strike him down once again, Ego had no other choice but to beg for mercy.
After all, anyone facing death would feel extreme fear.
Especially someone like Ego, an ancient being existing since the birth of the universe, whose long life only made him more afraid of death.
However, Peter didn't even pause for a moment because of his plea.
He turned into a streak of light, swiftly plummeting toward the last remaining star body of Ego.
"No!"
Faced with the choice between life and death, Ego couldn't continue to reserve his power.
His immense divine power instantly spread throughout the entire universe, the seeds of divine power on countless planets.
At this moment, he couldn't wait for his remaining divine power to slowly consume the vitality of those planets.
Instantly, the planets, originally enveloped in immense divine power and rapidly being devoured, were completely drained of all energy and vitality in this moment.
Countless planets turned into dust after the annihilation in the universe.
And the absorbed divine power, with enough strength, turned into a dazzling starlight, like stars, swiftly converging from all over the universe through endless starry skies, towards this place.
However, after countless light-years of separation, even though the speed of divine power was many times faster than the speed of light, it still couldn't arrive in time.
Before the divine power star, containing the power of countless planets' annihilation, arrived, Peter's fist was about to strike Ego's body!
"Damn it, this is the only way!"
Ego's heart was filled with anger, but he knew that with his current strength, he couldn't completely withstand the attacks of this person.
The next moment, he exerted all his divine power, and a dazzling blue light covered the entire surface of the planet.
Especially in the direction of Peter's attack, the blue divine power had already solidified into substance, like shields, guarding in front of him, attempting to resist Peter's attack.
At the same time, he endured the pain and completely separated his true power core from this planet, which had already been thoroughly assimilated and was almost a part of his body.
Even so, it would weaken his originally enhanced power by half, but he had no other choice.
"Heh, futile resistance."
Facing Ego's desperate struggle, Peter's eyes revealed a trace of disdain.
Regardless of the strength, any defense and conspiracy would have no effect.
Sure enough, as Peter's fist struck the layers of divine power barriers,
Crack... Crack!
Like fragile bubbles, they directly shattered, turning into starlight and dissipated in the universe.
And before the divine power barriers completely dissipated, Peter's body had already penetrated countless divine power barriers and directly struck the huge planet.
Boom!
Without any accidents, the entire star shattered under the powerful fist of Peter.
The fragments and dust of the shattered planet formed an elliptical shockwave in the universe.
The terrifying momentum, visible to the naked eye, instantly swept the surrounding galaxies.
Like the destruction of a star, the powerful gravitational force caused chaos, even tearing apart the surrounding void.
Endless cosmic turbulence formed terrifying spatial storms, sweeping towards all directions.
The dust left after the destruction of the star was continuously torn apart by endless spatial storms, and finally completely disappeared into the universe.
"Hmph, still haven't realized the truth?"
However, as his fist hammered Ego's last planet body, Peter felt that Ego's essence had not been completely obliterated by him.
But this didn't matter much. For Peter, it was just a matter of striking another punch.
...
"Damn it, hurry up! It's almost too late!"
After the true source of Ego's power separated from the body of the planet, he barely managed to survive.
But Ego was well aware that this alone couldn't truly save him from the brink of death.
That guy's power was just too overwhelming, leaving him with almost no chance of victory, unless...
Just as Ego felt extremely anxious, a faint light suddenly bloomed in the distant dark starry sky.
"What's that?"
Peter also noticed the anomaly in the universe. With a slight movement of his eyes, he discovered what seemed to be a comet swiftly traversing through space.
"Heh, it turns out not to be a comet traversing the universe..."
However, in just a short moment, Peter realized that it was not just a comet after all.
Because at this moment, countless faint lights were already traversing the universe from all directions, converging towards this place.
Whoosh...
Thousands upon thousands of stars, shining like comets, converged from the distant universe towards here.
The originally dim light instantly became extremely bright.
Whoosh! Along with the sudden arrival of the first shining star.
Flying towards Ego's core, it merged into his oddly shaped brain.
Endless stars, like a meteor shower, converged towards him from all directions.
"Haha, power! This is true power!"
As if an endless stream of comets, continuously merging into Ego's brain, allowing him to feel that the power, which had just been weakened by half, was continuously recovering, and even becoming stronger than before.
Under the endless starlight, the dark universe without stars became incredibly bright.
Even the petrified Diaga would be instantly recharged at this moment.
"Oh? Is there still some life left?"
Feeling the dazzling convergence of stars, Peter looked with interest as they continued to converge into Ego's brain.
Gradually, Ego's exposed brain and neural network, under the convergence of stars and divine power, continued to grow.
The divine power gradually turned into a hardened skull, enveloping his seemingly fragile brain.
It looked like a gigantic white skull standing in the cosmic void.
However, the convergence of shining stars did not end.
More and more stars, after traversing the endless universe, converged towards Ego.
Countless stars merged into the skull, bringing Ego even greater power.
And that skull, visible to the naked eye, began to grow rapidly.
While becoming larger, it also gradually grew a body similar to a human's.
First the neck, then the torso, followed by the limbs...
In just the blink of an eye, the skull transformed into a human skeletal specimen often seen in biology dissection classes.
However, unlike a normal human skeletal specimen, this skeleton possessed an incredibly massive body.
Just the skull alone, at this moment, was already comparable to the size of Ego's previous body, resembling a planet, and still expanding rapidly.
Perhaps, when he absorbed enough power, he might even surpass the size of a star like the sun...
......
"It seems that this is Ego's true strength."
Even though Peter could sense Ego's power continuously increasing with his body, there was still no ripple in Peter's eyes.
Because, for him, no matter how strong the power was, it couldn't bridge the enormous gap between them.
As Ego's body gradually became complete, the massive divine power that converged once again no longer shaped more parts of his body.
Instead, outside his bones, it continued to flow, forming special divine power channels like veins and arteries throughout his body.
Gradually, those vein-like divine power channels were covered, and countless divine powers turned into flesh, wrapping up the exposed "veins" around him.
At this moment, Ego truly had a humanoid body.
After flesh came the skin that covered everything.
Finally, the features gradually manifested above the skin...
Although the entire process of forging the body seemed very cumbersome, it only happened in a moment.
If it weren't for Peter's extraordinary mental energy, it would have been difficult to see the entire imaginary forging process of the body.
In any case, with the last comet carrying massive divine power traversing from the distant universe and converging into Ego's body, everything finally returned to calm.
However, in front of Peter, a giant figure resembling a true deity suddenly appeared.
His body was so massive that it was beyond imagination.
To him, Peter's figure was like the difference between the sun and a speck of dust.
"Hmph, it's all because of you that I had to exhaust all the potential of my great plan."
However, even though he had become so powerful at this moment, Ego still felt incredibly angry. His star-like eyes stared firmly at Peter's tiny figure, as if afraid that he would disappear in the blink of an eye.
"If it weren't for you, in just a few million years, I would have become the supreme god ruling the entire universe."
"Stars are just the nuclei of my body, galaxies are just complete cells of my body, and even the entire Milky Way is no match for one of my fingers..."
"But now, because of you, I had to prematurely exhaust everything!"
"So, can you understand the intense anger in my heart right now?"
"That kind of anger, almost wanting to tear you apart, crush your flesh and blood, and tear you apart again...!"
At this moment, the immense power almost made Ego forget his previous pleas to Peter.
At this moment, the endless power inside him inflated his confidence continuously.
But, at this moment, the immense power also made Ego feel more furious.
Because if he had completed his plan of devouring the entire universe as usual, the immense power he would have gained would have been countless times greater than what he had now.
Yes, the countless at this moment couldn't represent any quantity. It was a vast gap that even human thought found difficult to imagine.
...
"Unfortunately..."
Peter looked at Ego, whose body was larger than a galaxy, and shook his head slowly with a sigh.
"What? Are you ready to beg for mercy?" Ego stared at Peter's expression, mistaking it for a plea for mercy.
"No, I just regret that although your power has increased, your brain seems to be less functional than before!" Peter sighed, realizing that suddenly gaining immense power could lower one's intelligence.
Ego, who originally knew that he couldn't win and should flee, seemed to be confused by the sudden surge of power and prepared to confront Peter.
Of course, anyone facing such an obvious gap might become as arrogant as Ego.
Unfortunately, it was this arrogance and pride that ultimately led to Ego's demise.
In the astonished gaze of Ego, a crimson flame suddenly burst from Peter's body.
In the moment of the eruption of the mighty Phoenix Force, everything around was annihilated.
Although in Ego's eyes, it looked like a small flame that could be easily extinguished.
But within that power, he felt a breath that could annihilate everything.
Under Peter's control, the Phoenix Force transformed into a phantom of a phoenix.
Facing Ego's body, it slowly waved its fiery wings and drifted away.
But in the midst of its flight, it suddenly expanded, and the phantom of the phoenix floated towards Ego's body.
"Perish!"
The strong aura of annihilation made Ego's face change drastically.
Without hesitation, he released a massive divine power, attempting to extinguish the phoenix, which was like a flame, with the power resembling the Milky Way pouring from the heavens.
Unfortunately, no matter how massive the divine power he released, like the Milky Way hanging in the universe, the phoenix phantom seemed unaffected, traversing through the galaxy.
The flames of annihilation obliterated everything they touched.
As the Milky Way flowed downward, it soared into the sky.
Like a phoenix truly reborn from the flames, it wandered among the galaxies.
"No, this is impossible!"
In disbelief, the tiny spark brought him great anxiety.
In the next moment, he disregarded the depletion of his divine power, and a vast divine power pierced through the void, forming a temporal passage, linking to the nearest galaxy.
From the cosmic perspective, a dazzling oval galaxy disappeared in an instant under the influence of an invisible force.
In an instant, what appeared in Ego's hands.
Then, without hesitation, Ego held the entire galaxy in his hands and smashed it down towards the fiery phoenix and Peter.
Boom!
The moment the phoenix fireball touched the galaxy, it erupted with terrifying momentum.
The entire galaxy, which had previously shone with silver-white light, was gradually engulfed by a crimson glow.
Like a stellar flame, it instantly ignited the entire galaxy.
In Ego's incredulous gaze, the galaxy he used as an attack became the opponent's weapon.
Transformed into a phoenix as large as a galaxy, it soared towards his face.
"Ah!"
In panic, Ego raised his hands, trying to grasp the phoenix with flaming wings.
However, the feather-like flames seemed to burn away everything in the world.
His hands were instantly ignited.
The flames spread along his arms, instantly engulfing his entire body.
"Ah..."
The painful wail echoed throughout the universe.
Ego's body, larger than a galaxy, was completely ignited.
Divine power was no longer his mighty force but instead became the fuel for the flames.
Under the endless burning flames, Ego's remnants slowly dissipated in the universe!
The whole process had an unbelievable sense of dissonance.
It was as if everything shouldn't have ended so abruptly.
However, in reality, there were not so many twists and turns.
It was just that Ego was not as powerful as Peter.
The Phoenix Force, capable of burning everything, under Peter's control, was even capable of incinerating an entire universe!
Obviously, Ego was not capable of resisting at the moment.
Unless he could, as he said, devour the entire universe and possess the power beyond the multiverse.
