[Superman] Chapter 145: Stars Become Eyes, the Universe Becomes a Body!
🕑 Added 2024-06-02 10:10:29 +0000 UTCAs Yondu risked his life to detonate the planet that housed the core of Ego's divine power.
Ego seemed profoundly affected, abandoning his pursuit of the fleeing Thor and Magneto without hesitation.
His enormous body instantly returned to the rapidly collapsing planet.
"Hmm? What's happening?"
Thor and Magneto also sensed something amiss. Watching Ego recede into the distance, they couldn't help but exchange a hesitant look.
"It seems like he's significantly impacted. Should we take this chance...?"
Seeing Ego's waning aura, they looked at each other, both itching to make a move.
"This isn't good. That guy hasn't lost all his power. Did Yondu fail?"
Rocket, who was closer to Ego, noticed that while Ego's aura was rapidly declining, it was still far from the complete loss of power they had expected following the destruction of his divine source.
It seemed that Ego was indeed affected, but not fatally so.
Sure enough, as Ego's body returned to his power source, the rapidly collapsing planet,
Ego no longer had the mind to pay attention to anything else.
"Damn ants, I'll crush you all into cosmic nourishment soon."
Angry thoughts filled Ego's mind, and his enormous body first transformed back into a massive blue divine force.
The divine power poured down like heavenly rain, continuously soaking into the collapsing ground, nourishing the planet on the verge of complete destruction.
As the energy merged with the planet, the previously collapsing and crumbling terrain started to stabilize, momentarily halting its destruction.
The collapsing ground was enveloped by the vast energy, preventing further disintegration.
Simultaneously, an even more immense energy radiated from the planet's core.
This energy, like erupting magma, flowed deep underground, clearing away the debris and simultaneously repairing the collapsed subterranean structure.
More importantly, as the energy continued to wash over, the entire planet began to undergo a rapid transformation.
Within less than a minute,
the planet, once on the brink of collapse, was revived. Its subterranean structure even became sturdier than before.
Azure energy continuously spouted from the ground.
The powerful restorative divine force even repaired the surface that had been partially consumed by a black hole.
Soon, two identical complete planets reappeared in the cosmic space.
However, these two newly emerged planets felt vastly different from before.
From this moment, the two planets no longer seemed like inanimate objects but rather special lifeforms filled with vitality and consciousness.
The two planets radiated a blue light as bright as stars.
Illuminating the entire starry sky, they shone in the universe.
The dazzling light gradually faded shortly after.
Then, two massive fissures suddenly appeared on the surface of the planets, spreading across their entire surface.
The next moment, something horrifying occurred: from within the huge cracks emerged organ-like structures resembling biological eyes.
Dark pupils gleamed with a star-like luster, akin to divine beings from beyond the universe, peering through the cracks of the cosmos into the universe's inner workings.
These eyes immediately fixed on Thor and Magneto, who hadn't yet completely left.
The starlike eyes were filled with intense anger and hatred.
It seemed as if they wanted to tear Thor and Magneto apart with their fierce gaze.
...
"It's a pity that this guy managed to pull through," Thor said, gazing at the newly formed planet and the eerie eyes staring back at him. A hint of solemnity flashed in his eyes.
At this moment, he could feel that with his current divine power, he could no longer easily split this planet in half as he had before.
"Not only that, this guy's essence has undergone a massive transformation."
"If before he was just a lucky planet that awakened self-awareness, now he has become a truly living special race."
"Or rather, a newly born god race!"
Magneto's eyes turned to Thor, the meaning in his gaze unmistakable.
"Hmph, this ugly creature will never become a true god like me!" Thor didn't want to compare himself to this grotesque being.
At the same time, perhaps out of anger, or maybe knowing they couldn't easily escape now, Thor gripped his battle axe tightly and charged towards the two eyes that shone like stars.
"Sigh, what a troublesome situation we've stumbled into," Magneto sighed. Before coming here, he thought this would be an easily solvable matter.
But he hadn't expected it to develop into such an unpredictable mess.
Compared to Thor, Magneto understood even more deeply that Ego had completely transformed and undergone a significant metamorphosis.
The planet, after being altered by the powerful divine force, had fundamentally changed.
The tough material that had once encased the brain at the planet's core, like a neural network, had spread to cover the entire planet's surface.
Moreover, this material was even tougher than before.
From this moment on, everything about these two planets had been assimilated by Ego's divine power.
Originally, the brain-like entity at the planet's core was the source of Ego's power.
But now, the entirety of these two planets had become the core of Ego's divine power, continuously providing him with an immense amount of terrifying power.
Unless these two planets were simultaneously obliterated in an instant, it was impossible to kill Ego at this point.
...
"Asgardian warriors never fear!"
"May the gods of Valhalla grant me supreme power!"
"I will let the glory of the Asgardian gods shine across the Nine Realms, dispelling all darkness!"
Soaring into the sky, Thor gripped his battle axe tightly, his resolute voice seemingly echoing throughout the entire universe.
At this moment, he knew that with his current strength, he might not be able to defeat the enemy before him.
But as a scion of Asgard, he possessed special abilities beyond human understanding and imagination.
The previously dim space suddenly bloomed with a golden radiance.
It was as if a small tear had been ripped in the darkened world, and his plea appeared to have been answered by the gods.
The dazzling golden light pierced through the narrow rift, illuminating Thor.
In an instant, Thor, bathed in the golden glow, appeared as a god blessed by holy light.
His aura continually surged, with divine power roiling within him.
At that moment, Thor seemed blessed by the magic of the gods, his silver armor, formed by divine power, turning golden, as if forged from pure gold.
The silver battle axe in his hand also transformed into a brilliant gold.
Silver lightning crackled and flashed upon it, radiating power.
Golden lightning, seemingly capable of piercing through the void, caused visible distortions and ripples in the surrounding space.
"Thank you, ancestors, for your blessing!"
Feeling the surge of immense power within him, Thor couldn't help but sense the entire universe becoming incredibly fragile.
It felt as if he could tear a rift in the void with a mere swing of his axe.
The overwhelming power restored Thor's confidence.
Facing the two starlike eyes, he felt no fear.
His figure turned into a streak of golden light.
Like a golden spear, he traversed the cosmic void, charging towards the eyes that stood tall in the universe.
"Hmph, ants are always ants. You cannot fathom how powerful I have become!"
At that moment, Ego, his consciousness fully returned to his body, realized how strong he had become after devouring countless planets.
The detestable being who tried to destroy his brain had caused minimal damage to his divine core.
In an instant, the continuous divine power flowing into him repaired the damage, restoring him to full strength.
Seizing this opportunity, he completely assimilated the entire planet. After evolving his divine brain and neural network, he further evolved true eyes.
More importantly, he sensed that as he devoured more planets and gained more divine power, he would eventually evolve into a perfect form.
Stars would become his eyes, galaxies his limbs, and the universe his body...
Until he had devoured and assimilated the entire universe, he would become the new eternal being in the infinite cosmos!
...
Watching Thor swiftly traverse the cosmic expanse like a divine figure,
Ego's eyes displayed a hint of disdain, almost human-like in expression.
In the next moment, he fixed his gaze on the approaching Thor.
Hiss!
Incredibly, Ego's gaze transformed into tangible energy beams, piercing through the void, blasting toward Thor.
The azure beams, like the most terrifying gamma-ray bursts in the universe, surged with a fearsome force towards the golden war god Thor.
Crash!
The two powerful beams collided instantly.
The immense power directly shattered the surrounding void.
The vast space was ravaged by the overwhelming energy, turning into a fearsome cosmic storm.
Countless spatial rifts spread through the void.
However, the dazzling blue energy beams failed to completely destroy the golden spear-like streak of light.
Instead, the golden streak ignored the beams' obstruction, like an arrow piercing through the void, weaving through the light columns.
In an instant, it struck one of the starry eyes!
Boom!
The golden light instantly penetrated the starry eye, with dazzling brilliance erupting from it.
Like the afterglow of a sunset, it illuminated the entire starry sky.
The golden streak slowed down after passing through the eye, gradually revealing Thor's figure once more.
However, his golden armor was now battered and worn, and Thor's aura was no longer as sharp and radiant as before, showing signs of weariness.
Clearly, even though he successfully destroyed one of the starry eyes, it was no easy feat for Thor.
"Ancestors of the gods, I have not let you down!"
Thor looked up at the void, as if his ancestors were watching him through it.
Boom!
Behind Thor, the starry eye radiating golden light suddenly exploded.
The entire star shattered into endless dust, dispersing in all directions.
...
"Ha ha ha... Is this the power you boast of?"
Suddenly, as the starry eye shattered, a ethereal voice reverberated through the cosmos.
"This... How is this possible?"
Hearing the voice, Thor, unable to bask in the glory of victory, hurriedly turned back to look.
But all he saw was the starry eye, which had just been pierced by him and exploded in the universe, seemingly rewinding like time.
Crumble... Crumble!
Under Thor's incredulous gaze, the swiftly dissipating dust seemed to be attracted by some force, rapidly retracting.
In the next moment, it reassembled into a brand-new star.
And then, above the direction facing Thor, a huge crack once again split open.
The starry, deep gaze looked at the incredulous Thor, seeming to mock him.
"Regrettably, the so-called Asgardian gods are nothing but false deities."
"Only I am the true deity reigning over the entire universe."
Ego's voice echoed throughout the cosmos.
In the next moment, an even more powerful energy beam erupted, piercing through the void, hitting Thor's body.
"This is impossible!"
Thor only managed to block with his battle axe, but he was still sent flying by the powerful beam.
Even so, his already somewhat tattered golden armor was completely shattered.
Countless divine powers dispersed, turning into starlight dissipating in the universe.
As the beam dissipated, only the figure covered in scars remained.
The Asgardian god, who could withstand the energy of a neutron star, was now suffering injuries he couldn't resist.
"Die!"
Suddenly, just as Ego was about to deal with Thor once and for all, an invisible barrier appeared beside him.
Crack!
Although the barrier was quickly shattered, Thor's body disappeared into the void along with it.
"Hmm? Trying to escape? Impossible to let you get away with it!"
Ego's starry eye scanned the silent cosmic expanse with anger.
In the next moment, another surge of divine power erupted, creating a temporal wormhole in the void.
Immediately, both starry eyes entered it.
In the distant starry sky, two figures were swiftly traversing the universe.
Suddenly, two planets appeared abruptly, blocking their way.
"Ha ha ha, where do you think you're going?"
Ego's voice reverberated through the cosmos, instilling endless fear.
However, in the next moment, a voice came from the distant universe.
"They didn't run away, they just led you here!"
...
