[Superman] Chapter 141: Star-Lord's Refusal to Become a God
🕑 Added 2024-06-02 09:31:21 +0000 UTCIn the instant that black spot appeared.
A gravitational force of unprecedented magnitude suddenly emanated.
The terrifying gravity continued to tear everything around it apart.
And the two recently split planets, being the closest, were the first to be affected by such powerful gravity.
Soon, the intense gravitational force it emitted surpassed even that of the two planets.
And the ground on the planets, due to the stronger gravitational pull, was lifted directly from the surface.
Countless rocks and soil were pulled by the powerful gravity, flying into the void.
And the black dot was expanding continuously.
In just a moment, it had grown to several meters in size.
The extreme darkness seemed to distort even light with its pull.
Countless lights revolved around the ultimate black dot.
Anything that entered the event horizon of a black hole, even light, struggled to escape and could only be completely swallowed by the black hole.
"Is this guy still... human?"
At this moment, in space, Yondu and the crew looked at the terrifying scene on the screen, their hearts already numb with shock.
Just now, Thor split a planet in half with one axe blow, which they could attribute to his belonging to the godly race and wielding their powerful forces.
However, now, an ordinary-looking human could actually conjure the most terrifying celestial body in the universe, a black hole, with his hands.
This completely exceeded their understanding of humans.
"Perhaps, from now on in the universe, there will be a legend that says, don't mess with Earth, don't provoke humans!"
At this moment, Yondu and the others finally fully recognized the terror of Earth.
Any random human being could possess the terrifying power to destroy powerful interstellar empires in the universe.
"Damn, is that a black hole? Quick, start the ship and get out of here as soon as possible!"
However, compared to Yondu and the others, who were far enough away to not worry about being subjected to the powerful gravitational pull of the black hole and unable to escape, they were temporarily unaffected.
Hovering not far away, observing the situation, Rocket and the others hastily activated the ship the moment the black hole appeared, swiftly moving away from the range of the black hole's existence at the fastest speed.
"Damn it, who are those two guys? How can they even conjure up a black hole!"
Gradually, as Rocket piloted the ship away from the gravitational range of the black hole, he finally breathed a sigh of relief, slowing down the ship, unable to help but sigh with relief as if having survived a catastrophe.
"Damn it, Rocket, Quill is still there, we forgot to bring him out."
Suddenly, Drax seemed to remember something and shouted at Rocket.
"Quill..."
Hearing Drax's words, Rocket hesitated for a moment, as if hesitating, not even caring that Drax called him a bear.
"What are we waiting for? Let's go back and rescue him!"
Drax shouted loudly, about to sit in the pilot's seat and fly the ship back.
"Sorry, I lied to you before. Your friend may have... passed away!"
At this moment, beside the two of them, the girl with tentacles on her head, who had been silent all along, slowly spoke, saying something that surprised both of them.
"What? Quill is dead? That's impossible!"
Drax's expression was one of disbelief.
"What's going on? Why did you suddenly approach Star-Lord, and that old man, is he really Star-Lord's biological father?"
And Rocket, as if he had anticipated it, directly pulled out a energy cannon and aimed it at the girl, forcing back his anger as he questioned her.
...
"No, it's impossible, you can't be this powerful!"
At this moment, as the black hole was created and released its powerful gravity.
The entity, Ego, as huge as a planet, naturally couldn't easily escape the gravitational range of the black hole.
In just a moment, his planet-sized body was continuously torn apart by the powerful gravitational force.
The entire volume of the planet shrank by one-tenth.
And the black hole, which was constantly devouring the remnants of his body, was growing rapidly after devouring things.
At this moment, its diameter was already tens of meters in size.
The horrifying darkness almost completely shrouded the sky of the two planets.
Even the light from distant stars, pulled by the huge gravity, was immediately swallowed by the black hole.
At this moment, there was no doubt that Ego was facing the greatest crisis since his birth.
The body of the planet, which had bestowed upon him almost eternal life, had become his greatest weakness at this moment.
Because of its massive size, he couldn't escape the tearing force of the black hole.
There would come a moment when his body would be completely consumed by the power of the black hole.
Unless he could give up this planet that gave him powerful abilities, give up his eternal life and power.
"No, I absolutely can't give up my power and life."
"I have found an heir to inherit my power. As long as I devour him and merge with him, then my grand plan to devour the entire universe and become an eternal being will be completed."
"I absolutely can't give up all of this."
At the center of a planet, Ego's brain was pulsating like a heart.
This was the source of his power, and it was the core of everything he would accomplish in completing his grand plan to devour the universe.
If this brain were destroyed, then everything about him would be completely terminated at this moment.
And the planetary shell enclosing the brain was his last line of defense for his life.
If the gravitational force of the black hole continued to devour it, as the shell of the planet was completely consumed.
Then his vulnerable brain would be exposed, and then completely destroyed.
"No, I still have a chance, as long as I have enough time. When I completely devour my disobedient son, I won't need the protection of the planet's shell anymore."
"I am the true eternal!"
Suddenly, Ego realized that he still had a chance, which was to quickly completely devour his child who inherited his power and merge with him.
By then, with the power of two deities, he would instantly devour the planet where the seeds of his power were planted in the entire universe.
And by then, he would no longer be threatened by anything.
Thinking of this, Ego instantly gathered his strength, manipulated his consciousness, and came to an illusory space where endless stars twinkled in the vast starry sky.
And before him was a Star-Lord, with a face full of shock and disbelief.
"My child, we should have a good talk now!"
...
"Damn it, what's going on? Where are we now? What just happened?"
"And, what you said earlier about merging with me, ruling the entire universe together, becoming eternal, what's that all about?"
At this moment, Star-Lord's memories were still stuck at the moment when his father was suddenly killed by the intruder.
In the midst of his anger, he discovered that not only did his father not die, but there was also the moment when his father wanted to merge with him.
However, with sudden clarity of mind, Star-Lord instantly realized that his father's motives for finding him seemed not so straightforward.
"My dear child, I haven't told you about my true identity before."
Ego looked kindly at Star-Lord, but his heart was already filled with urgency.
However, in order to make Star-Lord cooperate with him, accept his power, and merge with him to conquer the universe, he had to patiently explain everything to him.
He believed that no one could refuse to become a true deity, especially one who controlled the entire universe and possessed eternal life.
"Hundreds of billions of years ago, when this universe was just born, I was already an ancient existence that existed with the birth of the universe."
"In the endless passing of time in the universe, I gradually awakened my self-consciousness."
"However, I found that I had no physical body. My self was a planet that had existed for countless years."
"However, I possessed unparalleled potential, possessing the most powerful force in the entire universe, which I call the Power of the Celestials."
"Gradually, I mastered my divine power and created everything. I made the barren planets covered with beautiful plants."
"I filled lifeless planets with vEgorous vitality."
"Until finally, I realized that this was not the true meaning I was seeking."
"My divine power could do more, it could make me even stronger, and even, control the entire universe."
As he spoke, Ego gradually concealed the intense excitement and ambition in his heart, forcing himself to calm down and continue.
"Until, I met you, my child, you are really lucky."
"In the endless years, I left my seeds on countless planets, but only you truly took root and inherited my divine power."
"Your existence will be the greatest help for me to control the entire universe."
"Your father and son joining forces will become the rulers of the universe, everything will be eternal."
"Join me, together we will control the entire universe, become the supreme deity in the universe, and enjoy eternal life."
After finishing his words, Ego couldn't help but open his arms as if to embrace the entire universe.
At the same time, he smiled at the already stunned Star-Lord, waiting for Star-Lord to eagerly throw himself into his arms.
"To become a deity with a human body? Can I really...?"
Star-Lord's voice trembled slightly.
And this was not surprising. No one could resist the temptation of becoming a deity and having eternal life.
Moreover, Star-Lord was just an ordinary person who lacked fatherly love since childhood, had been wandering the universe for countless years, and still hadn't found a place to belong.
"Of course, as long as you agree to merge with me and share our power."
"Then, you will have everything and become the true ruler of life, a deity!"
Looking at the desire in Star-Lord's eyes that couldn't be concealed, Ego seemed to have already foreseen every moment when Star-Lord would throw himself into his arms in the next moment.
...
"You mean this is the divine power you mentioned?"
Star-Lord slowly raised his hands, and a blue energy surged from his palms. Perhaps because he was now close enough to Ego's source of power, he easily controlled this powerful divine energy.
The divine power in his hands continuously twisted and changed according to his thoughts, eventually slowly transforming into the most profound image in his memory: the most beautiful appearance of his mother when he was a child.
"Yes, that's it. Feel the power and unlock the hidden potential within your body."
"Then, accept me, and merge with my power."
Watching the divine power emanating from Star-Lord's hands, Ego's excitement was palpable and uncontrollable.
If not for maintaining his composure, he might have lost control and rushed towards Star-Lord.
"This power seems to make me the master of everything, truly fascinating."
Star-Lord stared at the divine power in his hands without blinking, or more accurately, at the image of his mother formed by the divine power.
"It's just a pity that, powerful as it is, this power cannot resurrect the one I love the most."
Star-Lord slowly dissipated the divine power in his hands, his face filled with regret.
"No, don't! Are you willing to give up the chance to become a god, with eternal power and life, for someone insignificant?"
Seeing Star-Lord dispersing the divine power, Ego's expression changed drastically, and he blurted out, unable to control himself.
"Insignificant? That's my mother, your once beloved! And now, you dare call her insignificant?"
Hearing Ego's words, Star-Lord instantly became furious, glaring at Ego.
"Uh... let's talk about this later. Right now, the most important thing is, we need to merge as soon as possible..."
Ego hadn't expected Star-Lord's reaction to be so intense. He once again revealed a loving smile, attempting to continue coaxing him gently.
"Hehe, over these days, I have indeed experienced a fatherly love from you that I've never had before."
"Unfortunately, it's all just an illusion."
Star-Lord looked calmly at Ego, but there was no longer the expression of facing a loved one in his eyes; they were filled with calmness.
"Unfortunately, in your gaze just now, there was not a hint of love for my mother, or rather, you seemed to be looking at a stranger."
"In the endless life, having countless partners might have already made you numb?"
"And under your numbness towards love, you continue to procreate."
"Your goal is simply to produce lucky heirs like me who inherit your divine power, among countless offspring, right?"
Suddenly, Star-Lord's gaze towards Ego turned fierce, his tone gradually becoming heavier until, in the end, it seemed like an accusation.
"Hahaha, it seems my guess was completely correct. You weren't happy because you found your offspring, but because you found offspring who inherited your power!"
Star-Lord suddenly burst into laughter, seemingly using laughter to mask his inner sadness.
From beginning to end, he had never fully trusted this suddenly appearing father, until he saw the indifference in the other's eyes towards his mother, and finally confirmed everything he had suspected.
"Sorry, no matter what, I cannot entrust the future of the entire universe to someone like you, devoid of emotions."
"No, you can't even be called a human; you're just a cold stone."
Star-Lord's words, without any concealment, finally made Ego's face turn cold.
"Humph, I should have let you die of cancer like your mother."
"You said... what?"
Initially, Star-Lord thought that the fact that this father before him didn't love his mother was something he couldn't accept.
But in this moment, when he learned the truth, his face instantly filled with anger.
"You deserve to die!"
The next moment, Star-Lord suddenly tried to draw his weapon, intending to kill the person who killed his mother.
"Where's my gun?"
However, he quickly realized that his gun was missing.
"Haha, too bad, this isn't reality. You can't harm me at all."
Ego looked at Star-Lord, his face instantly showing an excited smile.
"You'd better accept your fate and merge with me completely. That way, you'll at least survive, unlike your mother..."
However, before Ego could finish his sentence.
He was suddenly pierced by a blue beam of light.
It turned out that in Star-Lord's anger, he had unleashed his divine power.
"Hahaha, the more your divine power awakens, the happier I am."
Ego's body slowly dissipated, but his voice seemed to linger in Star-Lord's ears like a curse.
"Since you're unwilling to merge with me and become the god ruling the universe, then you shall become the nourishment for my divine power, helping me conquer the entire universe!"
The next moment, before Star-Lord could react, blue energy tentacles suddenly sprouted from under his feet.
Without him realizing it, they enveloped his entire body, rapidly spreading over him like rapidly growing vines.
"Ah... No!"
Star-Lord roared in unwillingness, but the next moment, the scene in front of him changed instantly.
The surrounding stars had disappeared.
And the reality around him was that he was surrounded by blue energy, amidst red-hot magma emitting hot steam.
