[Superman] Chapter 66: I am Iron Man!
🕑 Added 2024-01-13 05:20:23 +0000 UTC"Establish a company? I'm afraid..."
Facing Peter's sudden proposal, Dr. Octavius had no preparation and was about to refuse.
After all, he had dedicated the first half of his life to his dreams and had no experience managing a company.
Moreover, this was not an ordinary company; it had Superman behind it.
"Dr. Octavius, don't underestimate yourself. I believe you'll be an excellent company manager."
In fact, Peter had no intention of starting a company himself; it was too time-consuming. However, among the people present, there were no better candidates.
Dr. Pym was getting old, and his original company was being taken away.
Reed, though intelligent, was not a good choice for managing a company.
Only Dr. Octavius, despite lacking experience in managing a company in this universe, had founded Parker Industries in another universe as the Ultimate Spider-Man, becoming one of the world's wealthiest individuals. (Dr. Octavius at the time was inhabiting Peter Parker's body)
So, Peter preferred to believe that this universe's Dr. Octopus also had the talent for managing a company.
"Alright, Superman, thank you for your trust."
Because of Peter's help, Dr. Octavius had the chance to fulfill his lifelong dream, and it happened in front of the world.
So, Dr. Octopus was grateful to Peter.
At this moment, he no longer refused, but a hint of worry flashed across his face.
"However, Superman, if we want to establish a company, we probably need a significant amount of initial capital..."
"Don't worry; initial capital is not a problem."
Peter's gaze shifted to Princess Shuri on the side, then slowly moved away.
"I just saved a giant guy's life; I'm sure he'd be willing to spend a few billion to thank me."
Peter's mouth curved into a confident smile of someone in control.
...
Meanwhile, Tony, who had dealt with the situation, had flown back to his mansion.
However, such a significant event couldn't be easily overlooked.
Agent Coulson, who had been monitoring Tony's movements, received the news instantly and, along with Tony's secretary Pepper, arrived at Tony's mansion.
"Mr. Stark, I want to know what happened last night. What's the deal with the equipment you had on?"
"Only this way can our agency, the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, help you solve this trouble thoroughly."
The battle between Tony and Obadiah had taken place in the bustling city center.
Although the appearance of the monster made many pedestrians flee, some still witnessed and even photographed Tony in his armor.
To avoid exposing himself to the public eye, Tony had to cooperate with S.H.I.E.L.D. to eliminate any potential risks.
"Sorry, I've already told you everything I know. As for the equipment I'm wearing, that's not something your Strategic Home...Defense Bureau or whatever can get involved in..."
"Damn, your agency's name is really a mouthful."
"Achoo!"
"F*ck, which guy is coveting me from behind?"
Sitting leisurely on the sofa telling Coulson about the situation, Tony suddenly sneezed.
"Anyway, I hope you can handle everything as you promised."
Tony slowly picked up the glass and took a sip, suppressing the chill from somewhere unknown that arose in his heart.
"Mr. Stark, since that's the case, I'll go back and report to the chief."
Coulson, seeing that there was no more information to extract, stood up, ready to leave.
"Oh, Mr. Stark, tonight, regarding any information that might expose your identity, we've already sent people to handle it. Tomorrow, you might need to hold a press conference to announce your alibi."
Coulson instructed Tony before leaving.
"Heh, these guys, just like government officials, full of lies."
"I was clearly there tonight..."
Seeing Coulson leave, a hint of disdain appeared at the corner of Tony's mouth.
"Tony, it was really dangerous tonight. Fortunately, Mr. Superman was there..."
Pepper looked at Tony worriedly and said gratefully.
"Don't worry, Pep, even if that guy wasn't there, nothing would've happened to me."
"After all, the armor I developed isn't made of paper!"
Tony felt Pepper's concern for him and was warmed inside, but still acted arrogantly, indicating he could have defeated Obadiah without Peter.
"Right, about the Obadiah incident, establish an investigative team to investigate as soon as possible."
Although Obadiah was dead, he left behind a mess.
Tomorrow, there would probably be some turmoil within Stark Industries.
"But this is good too. Pep, take this opportunity during the turmoil to buy back the company shares as soon as possible. After this, I can't hand the company over to anyone else."
After Obadiah's incident, Tony seemed to have lost trust in others and was preparing to gain complete control of the company in his own hands.
"You're the boss, whatever you say I'll do."
At this moment, Pepper regained her independent strong woman image.
"But tomorrow's press conference..."
"Don't worry, I'll attend it in person."
Tony stood up from the sofa and walked towards the basement as he replied.
...
"Last night, two shocking major incidents occurred in New York City one after another. Two monsters attacked the city. Fortunately, Mr. Superman and another mysterious man in unknown metal armor existed, eventually saving innocent crowds."
"According to some sources, the monster that suddenly appeared was actually Mr. Obadiah Stane, vice president of Stark Industries, and that mysterious man was none other than the famous billionaire Mr. Tony Stark..."
"Spider-Woman, a true hero protecting New Yorkers second only to the great Mr. Superman..."
"The military said an experimental staff violated regulations in a military base in the uninhabited desert area, resulting in the destruction of the base. Fortunately, no related personnel were killed. The military is still investigating the details..."
Early the next morning, the whole of New York City was already shocked.
In less than a month, New York City suffered a monstrous attack again.
Moreover, this time it was two at once.
One in the city, one on the outskirts.
However, the damage caused by the monster in the suburbs was even more severe than the one in the city.
If it wasn't for Spider-Woman's appearance, rescuing all the passengers on a train, this would probably become the most serious disaster in New York's history.
And this time, the media finally exonerated Spider-Woman, calling him the most popular hero after Superman.
Even the Daily Bugle, which had always sung a different tune, did not embellish to smear Spider-Woman this time, and reported normally.
Of course, this news only attracted the attention of ordinary people.
More media were completely attracted by the upcoming Stark Industries press conference.
At the press conference, almost all New York media had arrived, waiting for Tony Stark, CEO of Stark Industries, who was about to take the stage to clarify last night's events.
Backstage, Pepper and Coulson were instructing Tony on the speech he was about to give on stage.
"Mr. Stark, just read from the script and you'll be fine. We've smoothed over everything."
Coulson said calmly to Tony.
"Hmm? I was vacationing alone on a deserted island last night? You guys are really good at making up stories..."
Tony took a look at the note in his hand, a little speechless, while muttering: "Iron Man? This name doesn't sound too bad..."
Soon, Tony put on makeup and slowly walked onto the press conference stage from backstage.
"Mr. Stark, some say that mysterious man was you last night. What do you have to say about this?"
As soon as Tony got on stage, the whole scene fell into chaos.
"Everyone please be quiet. Regarding last night's events, regarding some people calling me a superhero..."
"No one called you a superhero!"
A female reporter with long legs directly refuted this.
"Ahem, well, in fact..."
"I am - Iron Man!"
Tony declared resolutely.
"Wow!"
The scene was shocking. All the reporters stood up.
"That's right, he's the iron man."
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a voice sounded from the sky. Above the press conference, Superman's figure actually appeared!
...
