[Genshin Impact] Chapter 24: New Specialty
🕑 Added 2024-01-10 08:45:10 +0000 UTCInforming Katheryne about the Secret Ruins discovery at Thousand Winds Temple, her expression registered faint surprise. She seemed rather taken aback, and said she would report it to Cyrus, the Mondstadt Adventurers' Guild branch master:
"Sir Cyrus will immediately arrange for investigators to go to the Secret Ruins to conduct an investigation. If your report is verified, the Adventurer's Guild will give you generous rewards."
"Great, looking forward to it!" Nolan responded excitedly.
【Katheryne Has Developed a Favorable Impression of You, Obtained 70 Affection Points, Current Affection Level Lv.2 (0/200)】
Because Nolan chose to inform the Adventurers' Guild about something as significant as the discovery of the Secret Ruins, Katheryne couldn't help but feel more affection towards him.
This delighted Nolan further.
After the matter was concluded, they left the Adventurers' Guild. Vile was the first to bid farewell, saying that she was going to contact a buyer to sell the materials obtained from the monsters.
Probably because the abrasion on her knee was still a bit painful, her walking was still a bit unnatural.
"Goodbye, Miss Vile."
Noelle said with perfect etiquette, smiling serenely as she waved.
Then she turned to Nolan and said:
"Mr. Adventurer, I shall return to the Knights for now. Please come find me again if you need aid in the future!"
"Mm, Thank you, Noelle." Nolan smiled and nodded, "When you're free later, I'll visit properly to express my gratitude."
This left an opening for future interactions with Noelle. After all, Even good friends would grow distant without maintaining the relationship.
"Oh!"
Noelle shook her head, and hurriedly said, "No need for such trouble. It's getting late, I should head back."
"Goodbye."
Nolan bid farewell to Noelle and walked alone on the streets of Mondstadt City.
Because he had fought with Slimes, Treasure Hoarders, and Ruin Guards in the wild his clothes had long been dirty and sweaty. He decided to go back and take a bath, then go to the Good Hunter to eat dinner.
The intense exercise had really worked up his appetite.
After experiencing this first commission, the overall result - was quite smooth, but it also exposed many of Nolan's shortcomings.
First of all, the bow and arrow was a bit too restrictive for him.
Mainly because using arrows was just a bit less convenient, the number of arrows that could be carried was limited and it was more troublesome when it ran out. After all, you can't say to the enemy wait for me to pick up the arrows that can still be used first and we will fight, right?
Moreover, the wooden hunting bow given by Sir Draff was limited in power, and he himself couldn't condense Elemental Power for his arrows like Vision Holders.
Affected by its own material, Nolan's Archery skills were only high enough to fight wild beasts, but it was a bit lacking against monsters. It might not even be able to break the skin when facing some powerful monsters.
He had to focus on mastering 'Favonius Bladework - Fundamentals' soon, and the aspect of improving Archery skills can be put aside first so that it can also make up for the shortcomings of his Martial Arts that can only be used with fists.
Just As Nolan pondered, the character panel that had been quiet for some time, suddenly, popped up on its own, and a line of text appeared.

【Please Wait...】
Nolan with a surprised face only felt that his mind began to automatically recall what he had experienced today - A scene of mundane images appeared, the encounter with Noelle, defeating the Slime to save Vile, everything.
And so on all The memories gathered and focused, coalescing into some kind of power that added to his body.
【You've Obtained a New Character Specialty: Maiden Savior】
What a sudden, pleasant surprise!
Looking at the newly obtained specialty, Nolan's heart was exceptionally excited.
You should know that Specialties were quite difficult to get. First of all, the means for acquiring Specialties are quite limited, such as leveling up to level 20 will inevitably obtain a specialization, which is called a "Racial Specialty".
Generally, it is Nolan's characteristics that are generally not found in the human race, which can be regarded as a breakthrough in the upper limit of the race, such as long life, rapid self-healing, etc.
There are also skills-related specialties. For example, if a person has a particularly strong talent in practicing swordsmanship, then he may have skills and specialties such as "Swordsmanship Proficiency" or "Swordsmanship Genius".
The last thing was Character Specialty, and the method of acquiring this kind of Specialty had to do with Nolan's own deeds.
The more legendary, incredible, and memorable the thing is, the greater the probability of obtaining Specialty from it.
The【Descender】 strength that he got from transmigration is a Character Specialty, likely stemming from the memorable experience of "an otherworldly being descending wearing Teyvat".
If that was the case, it seemed that Nolan's adventure today was far too different from that, and shouldn't be able to meet the criteria for gathering character specialties.
But since it appeared anyway, it probably means this experience did have some memorable aspects.
After re-reading the text description several times, Nolan realized the most likely parts were【Leaving an Insignificant Mark in the History of Another World. 】and 【You Have Gained a Small Reputation in Mondstadt.】.
It was indeed memorable for a stranger to leave a small trace of himself in the history of a strange foreign world.
It seems that this should be considered "Beginner's Luck" or something like that, and it probably won't be so easy to gain Character Specialty in the future, so perhaps you'll need to do something that will have a greater impact on the world.
The only thing certain is that if he gives the middle finger to the "Sustainer of Heavenly Principles", there's a good chance that I'll be able to get a Character Specialty without any surprises.
Ahem - That is if the other party understood Nolan's meaning, and then he survived.
Nolan retrieved his own thoughts that could not help but disperse and associate in the direction of death, and then somewhat expectantly wanted to see the specific effect of the New Specialty.
