[Superman] Chapter 44: Thor's Hammer - Shattered
🕑 Added 2024-01-10 07:42:31 +0000 UTC"This Thor picked a really bad time to show up."
Sensing the attractive energy dissipating from the sudden distant explosion, Peter's icy gaze looked back to Thor, whom he had flung to the ground.
"My hammer!"
At this time, Thor who had smashed a large crater in the ground, was also painfully crawling out from the pit, looking up at the figure in the sky, disbelief filled his gaze.
"Mjolnir, come back!"
The next moment, accompanied by the surrounding background music, Thor raised his right hand and made a grasping motion, summoning his hammer of Thor in his heart at the same time.
Buzz!
Sensing Thor's summons, the hammer of Thor in Peter's hand shook violently, giving off a buzzing sound.
"No, this is absolutely impossible!"
Peter being able to lift the hammer of Thor had already shocked Thor tremendously.
And now, as it was unable to leave his hand even when summoned, Thor felt even more incredulous.
"Humph!"
Feeling the hammer of Thor struggling more strongly in his hand, Peter gave a cold snort, then flew straight at Thor on the ground.
"My Mjolnir, give it back to me!"
Looking up at Peter, Thor shouted without hesitation.
"Give it back to you? If you concede now, I may consider it."
Looking down at Thor condescendingly, Peter's voice was icy as he spoke, hoping Thor would make the right decision.
"No, absolutely not! We Asgardian warriors will never concede to weak humans."
However, the arrogant Thor, how could he concede so easily, moreover to a human?
"Then, I'm very sorry!"
Having given Thor a chance which he did not cherish, the already very angry Peter hesitated no more.
Gripping the hammer of Thor single-handedly, his super strength, powerful to a level even unknown to himself, slowly exerted force.
Buzz...
As if sensing grave danger, the hammer of Thor kept vibrating, giving off a strong wail at the same time.
"No, what are you trying to do?"
It was as if he could feel the hammer of Thor's wailing, Thor looked at Peter with utmost shock, while summoning his hammer of Thor with even more effort in his heart.
However, other than vibrating even more strongly in Peter's hand, the hammer of Thor showed no signs of being summoned back at all.
"No, you can't do this!"
"Without the hammer of Thor, I will lose my qualifications as the God of Thunder!"
At this moment, Thor finally realized what Peter was doing, the arrogance on his face showed panic and regret for the first time.
"Mr. Superman..."
Beside them, Fury walked up, wanting to stop Peter.
But the next moment, seeing Peter turn to look at him, radiating unfriendly gaze from his eyes, he eventually did not continue speaking.
【Ah ah ah~ Ah!】
As the background music entered a new climax again.
The hammer of Thor in Peter's hand could finally take no more at this moment, and a crack slowly spread from Peter's fingertips across the entire hammer.
"Not good, everyone gets down quickly!"
Seeing the dazzling silver light emanating from the cracks on the hammer, Fury's expression drastically changed in an instant.
"No!"
And Thor could not bear to see this happen before him either. His feeble body exerted all its strength to leap up, wanting to snatch back the hammer of Thor from Peter in the air.
"Humph!"
Seeing Thor's actions, Peter hesitated no more, abruptly increasing the force in his hand.
Boom!
Instantly, the already crack-ridden hammer of Thor exploded thunderously.
The tremendous energy contained within was released in an instant, erupting an extremely fearsome energy shockwave.
The shockwave instantly blasted the pouncing Thor in the air away.
The spreading shockwave radiated in all directions.
The sky, which was originally covered by thick clouds, was also swept clear in this instant by the powerful energy shockwave.
Sunlight shone down on the ground again, illuminating scattered silvery metal fragments on the ground.
...
Asgard, on the magnificent golden palace.
Countless Asgardian citizens were gathered here, awaiting the official start of the ceremony.
Today was the day Odin the Allfather would appoint Asgard's heir to the throne.
Thor, as the son of Odin, was about to become Asgard's new heir apparent.
From now on, Thor would command and protect all of Asgard, leading them towards an even more prosperous future.
However, as the time for the ceremony's start gradually approached, Thor's figure was still nowhere to be seen at the scene, which inevitably caused murmuring among the waiting Asgardian citizens.
Dang!
Odin, dressed in golden armor, slowly tapped the eternal spear Gungnir in his hand lightly on the ground.
A muffled sound instantly spread throughout the entire hall, even the whole of Asgard, completely suppressing all the surrounding discussions.
Silence filled the hall.
"Queen Frigga, why hasn't Thor arrived yet."
Odin's deep voice sounded slowly, with simple words yet conveying endless majesty.
"Maybe too excited and forgot the time."
Frigga's expression was also ugly, but still forced a smile to find an excuse for Thor.
Then looking to the figure beside her, wearing a helmet like two deer antlers, she said slowly: "Loki, go get your brother!"
"That guy, don't tell me he really went to Midgard?"
Loki's expression was equally unpleasant, he suddenly recalled Thor saying he wanted to go to Midgard and challenge a human, over ten days ago.
"Alright, Mother!"
Although he was similarly unhappy about Thor smoothly inheriting the throne, he could only leave now to look for Thor.
However, before he had even walked out of the palace.
Odin, who had been sitting steadily on the throne, suddenly stood up from it.
"Just who is it?"
The hand holding the eternal spear bulged with veins, Odin who had looked like a frail old man earlier, now fully revealed his mighty aura as the lord of the Nine Realms.
He slowly raised his head, his single eye seeming able to pierce through the Nine Realms.
"What... happened?"
All the Asgardians present were awed by the powerful aura Odin was emitting now.
But the next moment, this aura disappeared instantly.
Along with its disappearance, so did Odin sitting on the throne.
"Loki, where exactly did your brother go?"
Seeing Odin disappear, Frigga also realized something major had happened, anxiously asking Loki.
"He said, he was going to Earth to challenge a new god..."
...
Earth, as the hammer of Thor shattered, Thor instantly became listless, sitting dejectedly on the ground.
At this moment, he had lost his most important possession.
While in the sky, Peter did not look at the dejected Thor on the ground, but slowly raised his head instead, gazing at the void, as if waiting for something.
In a flash, a brilliant pillar of light descended from the heavens.
Just like when the God of Thunder had arrived on Earth earlier, it smashed directly into the ground.
The pillar of light slowly dissipated, revealing a one-eyed old man dressed in golden armor and holding a golden long spear, appearing before everyone.
The old man first looked at Thor, sitting dejectedly on the ground looking dispirited.
Then his eye shifted, slowly looking at the fragments of the hammer of Thor scattered on the ground.
Finally, his gaze lifted up to stare at Peter floating in the air.
"So you're the one, who destroyed Mjolnir?"
