[Superman] Chapter 33: The Power of the Sun is in My Hands!
🕑 Added 2024-01-10 07:35:17 +0000 UTC"Sorry, Superman, in order to solve the energy problem, we have tried many energy storage batteries, and even imagined using future battery technologies that are not yet mature with today's technology."
"However, unfortunately, these batteries cannot serve as the power source for the battlesuit. Perhaps only a nuclear battery would be sufficient to support the huge energy consumption of the nanosuit."
"Unfortunately, we humans have not yet mastered the technology to miniaturize nuclear batteries up until now."
"That is the key to the future of mankind, and the dream of every energy scientist..."
Facing Peter's gaze, Dr. Selvig, who was also part of the energy research team, carefully explained to Peter, afraid that the superhuman in front of him would vent his anger on them because of their slow progress.
However, in the face of Dr. Selvig's explanation, Peter remained very calm, and did not seem angry or say anything.
Instead, he turned his gaze to Tony, who was sitting on the sofa engrossed in drinking red wine, and asked: "Mr. Stark, don't you have any suggestions?"
Hearing Peter's inquiry, Tony finally put down his wine glass, stood up from the sofa, and slowly walked towards Peter.
"Alright, Superman, I understand you're rather impatient, but scientific development needs to be gradual, and energy has always been an important science limiting humanity's development speed."
"Unless an unparalleled genius appears who can lead humanity's technology to take flight, like Newton, Einstein, Da Vinci, otherwise humanity must follow the proper laws of development."
"If the key to the future were so easy to find, then it could not be called the key to the future..."
Tony, who was a head shorter than Peter, could only tilt his head up slightly to meet Peter's gaze.
"So, you, who claim to be humanity's most brilliant scientist, don't have a better plan either?"
Facing Tony's gaze, Peter's expression remained very calm.
"No, I do have a pretty good plan."
Suddenly, a smile appeared on Tony's face. His gaze swept over Peter as he continued speaking.
"I heard that you can absorb the Sun's energy and integrate it into yourself, which is how you obtained such great power."
"Therefore, you yourself are actually an energy source more powerful than any other..."
Speaking to this point, Tony did not continue.
But everyone present, including Peter, understood clearly that the so-called plan he proposed just now was nothing more than using Peter himself as a "power bank" for the battlesuit.
"Tony, you..."
The moment Tony finished speaking, everyone present couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat, their expressions extremely nervous.
They had already proposed this plan before, but it was unanimously rejected without a doubt.
The reason was also very simple.
"If I could handle it myself, what would I need you for?"
Seeing Peter's eyes start to turn red, Reed hurriedly stepped between the two.
Facing Peter, he carefully pleaded: "Superman, please give us some more time. We will definitely come up with a way to solve the energy problem."
"Alright, I'll give you guys some more time then."
The red light fading from his eyes, Peter left after saying this.
"I almost forgot to tell you guys, the food I brought today can last you three days."
"But I'll be a bit busy next week, probably won't have time to bring you supplies, so I hope you can ration it and endure this week."
Walking out of the lab, Peter suddenly said this without turning his head.
"Just one week, isn't that too short..."
They were all smart people, naturally hearing the threat in Peter's words. One week was the final deadline for them to solve the energy problem.
In an instant, everyone's expressions became very ugly.
"Oh right, one more thing. I came in a hurry today and didn't bring any fuel for the generators, so if you ration it...the entire base should be able to operate for...three or four more days, I guess."
"Unfortunately I don't have minds as brilliant as yours, otherwise I could calculate the time more precisely. But you're all so smart, I'm sure you'll be able to find a solution, right?"
Peter suddenly turned back with a regretful tone.
After finishing speaking, he directly turned to leave.
"Three days? How is that possible..."
Hearing this, the already difficult expressions on everyone's faces instantly became even more bitter.
The energy problem has been plaguing the entire human civilization for decades. Giving them only three days to solve it is impossible.
Watching Peter's figure about to disappear down the corridor, looking at the "prison mates" around him whom he had worked with for a few days and were now familiar even if not friends.
Tony, whose expression was still hesitant, finally made up his mind.
At the moment Peter's figure was about to vanish at the end of the corridor, Tony suddenly spoke up: "Alright, you win."
"The energy problem, I've actually already solved it."
...
In the energy lab of the Antarctic "Research Base".
A figure was busy at work inside.
As for everyone else, they had all been kicked out, standing in the corridor outside the lab, peeking in through the glass window.
"Superman, we really don't know when exactly Mr. Stark solved the energy problem, he never told us about it."
Outside, Selvig was still explaining to Peter.
In fact, they really didn't know when or how Tony had solved the energy problem.
"I understand, watch closely."
Peter's gaze never left the figure in the lab.
Watching his skilled motions, orderly arranging, and combining various materials and equipment.
"Tony Stark, the absolute genius of the Marvel Universe, certified by Thanos to be cursed by knowledge."
"Once created a new clean energy that could make humanity take flight - the miniaturized arc reactor, in the crude conditions of a cave."
Recalling Tony's original fate, Peter had no doubt that he who succeeded even in a crude cave, would definitely not fail in this lab with relatively complete equipment.
"That's a miniaturized arc reactor? He actually..."
Sure enough, the moment Tony in the lab combined all the materials into a palm-sized circular reactor, everyone present revealed shocked expressions, whether they understood energy science or not.
Even Reed Richards, who considered himself humanity's greatest scientific genius, now had a face full of shock.
Tony at this moment, no doubt seemed like God lighting up the world.
As Tony placed the palladium metal element into the finished arc reactor, and connected it to a power supply, ready to light up the reactor. Everyone present unconsciously held their breath.
Eagerly awaiting that groundbreaking moment in history.
As Tony personally activated the power, the current instantly flowed into the dim arc reactor.
Buzz ...... buzz...buzz!
The sound of the current flowed faster and faster, and the arc reactor started blinking rapidly from slow to fast!
Finally!
The sound of the current completely disappeared, and on the table, an arc reactor flickering with silvery white light, shining brilliantly like the sun, presented itself before everyone.
"I admit, I really am that kind of once-in-a-generation genius who can lead humanity's civilization to take flight!"
Only when Tony walked out of the lab holding the successful arc reactor and handed it to Peter, did everyone finally come back to their senses, yet their gaze never left the arc reactor in Peter's hand.
