[Genshin Impact] Chapter 85: Submitting Lead
🕑 Added 2024-02-19 17:23:21 +0000 UTC"Oh? It's convenient that you two are here as well. Come over so we can discuss the aftermath and think of solutions together."
Kaeya turned slightly, looking through the doorway at Lisa and Nolan who had just come out of the library, and said to them in the main hall.
Kaeya's expression seemed somewhat helpless. Could it be that the interrogation didn't go smoothly?
Nolan guessed in his mind.
"Oh come on, I've already clocked out~" Lisa said, though she still moved her legs, clad in black thigh-high stockings, into the Acting Grand Master's office.
Nolan heard Kaeya seemed to call for him too, so he followed behind Lisa.
The Acting Grand Master's office was quite large. On the left was a reading and rest area, with wall-mounted bookshelves filled with books lining the wall. On the right was a rectangular dining table large enough to eat at.
Only in the center near the window was Grand Master Jean's workstation.
Jean, with her golden hair in a ponytail, rested her right elbow on the desk, her index finger lightly pressed against her lower lip, pondering as she explained:
"Lisa, the Fatui agent you and the others apprehended ended his own life during Kaeya's interrogation. We haven't obtained any useful information.
"With this lead cut off, it will be very difficult for us to find the Fatui's hidden base, and we have no way to rescue those deceived new adventurers. Do you have any suggestions on this?"
"That guy was an inspector. He kept shouting that he would gladly die for Her Majesty, The Tsaritsa. Quite an unexpectedly unyielding fellow," Kaeya shook his head slightly, saying helplessly.
No matter how skilled his interrogation methods were, they would have no effect on a dead man.
"Oh? That is a bit unexpected," Lisa said, hugging her snow-white arms crossed under her cloak, thinking for a moment before continuing, "Then...did you get anything out of the people from the Verdant Wings Adventure Team?"
Kaeya raised his hand in a gesture and explained:
"Those people did say everything they could. Only their leader and vice-leader knew the location of the hidden base.
"As for the other members, they really did go out into the wilderness on adventures. Only the leader and vice-leader would take a few new adventurers to the hidden base."
"In that case, it's going to be quite difficult. Perhaps we could post a 'missing persons' commission with the Adventurer's Guild. Some adventurers in the wild may have encountered them by chance," Lisa proposed a barely viable solution.
"We could also ask Miss Katheryne. From the commissions they've taken, we might be able to roughly determine the location of that hidden base," Kaeya stroked his dark chin and suggested as well.
"But all of this will take some time to be effective. I'm worried that the novice adventurers who were deceived won't be able to wait that long," Jean leaned back in her chair, addressing a problem that had to be faced.
If we're too late, those few new adventurers who were tricked could end up in more dangerous situations.
Inspector. Hearing Kaeya mention the debt agent's identity, Nolan thought of the not-so-strong debt agent Christie he had previously defeated.
Could this inspector be Christie's superior?
Thinking about it carefully, it seemed possible. After all, the two of them were operating in Mondstadt, and the Fatui wouldn't need to assign multiple inspector-level agents in one area.
Otherwise, who would the regular agents under them report to? There would be a high chance of functional interference.
As for each person leading their own team and commanding their own subordinates, that also didn't seem realistic.
As a foreign secret agent, it's not easy to lurk in Mondstadt peacefully, let alone arranging so many people. The Knights of Favonius aren't just sitting around.
So the probability was high that this inspector was Christie's superior.
Nolan asked Christie for contact information before, only for the sake of acquiring the debt agent's stealth techniques. If he were to really seek out Christie, he would inevitably fall into an ambush.
Therefore, after successfully acquiring the stealth assassination technique, he treated it as if the previous incident never happened.
But now it seems that Christie can be used as a lead to be handed over to the Knights of Favonius, and this is not for any personal gain.
After all, allowing the Fatui's agents to continue operating within Mondstadt is not a good idea, and speaking out could also help everyone. He, who values justice, is willing to do so.
After some thought, Nolan revealed the matter of the Debt Agent Christie to the others present.
He didn't hide any details either. Even if he concealed some minor issues, if they were discovered later, it could negatively impact how Grand Master Jean and Lisa viewed him.
Kaeya didn't matter, since Nolan couldn't gain affection with him, but creating a bad impression in the minds of the two ladies would make it difficult to increase his affection with them later.
So in this matter, it was better to be sincere.
"Oh my~ I didn't expect the young adventurer had encountered other Fatui agents. It makes Mondstadt, protected by high walls, seem like a leaky sieve," Kaeya first remarked with some sentiment, then continued happily:
"It seems the Fatui agent this young man encountered didn't have such steadfast willpower. He even gave up the secret arts he knew just to escape, hehe."
Lisa, wearing the pointed witch's hat, nodded too. At least they had some leads now. But suddenly her brow furrowed, as if realizing something, and she looked at Nolan with a dangerous gaze:
"So you're saying, little adventurer, you let a potentially dangerous person go free just to learn an infiltration technique?"
"Uh..." Nolan shifted his gaze away awkwardly. This was indeed the case, and he had considered that he might be asked this when telling them.
"Oh dear~ Looks like I'll have to give you a little shock~" Lisa's fingertips suddenly flickered with lightning. Nolan cringed and stepped back in fear, then heard her soft laughter:
"Hehe~ Just kidding~ The little adventurer's information was quite timely!"

Seeing Lisa's increased affection towards him, Nolan breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he was really about to get shocked!
"Yes, we can use this contact method to apprehend that Fatui agent. If there is an ambush, we can arrest them all at once!"
Grand Master Jean nodded slightly, her golden hair strands falling on her broad collar, her pale face relaxing a little.

The contact method Kristie gave Nolan was to go to a meeting point and say a password, after which someone would naturally notify Kristie to meet with Nolan.
With no time to waste, Grand Master Jean personally led the people present into action.
