[Genshin Impact] Chapter 73: Enhanced Version of the Pyro Elemental Potion
🕑 Added 2024-02-06 16:51:10 +0000 UTCAt the crafting table near the Fountain Square in Mondstadt, Sucrose laid out all the materials needed for the two types of Elemental Potions.
Three Blossoms of Revelation' petals, four purple Electro Crystal Chunks, one Magic Crystal Chunk, a small portion of Luminescent Spine, and a Lizard Tail.
"Timaeus, could you please boil these flower petals into a thick liquid?"
Following the recipe for the Pyro Elemental Potion, the first step was to boil the stamen of the Blossoms of Revelation' petals into a thick liquid.
Sucrose had carefully compared and found that the properties of Blossoms of Revelation were similar, so the same method could be used.
"Of course, leave it to me."
Timaeus patted his chest to indicate no problem. Although his alchemical skills weren't as good as Sucrose's, he was very proficient at simple preparatory work with materials.
Stewing flower petals into a viscous juice seemed simple, even ordinary people without any alchemical knowledge could do it.
But just like how on the bustling streets of Mondstadt, vendors sell sausages and everyone thinks it's easy to operate, but when they try it at home, they might end up failing.
No matter how simple the task, the difference in skill between an expert and a novice was stark.
After all, while the Blossoms of Revelation' petals weren't particularly rare or valuable, when needed, it could be quite a hassle to find them.
This was also why Sucrose didn't ask Nolan to do this work - in case he messed up and they had to collect materials again.
Timaeus took the materials and went to the side to start preparing.
Sucrose then looked at the Electro Crystal and Magic Crystal Chunk. The Electro Crystal needed to be smelted into liquid with intense heat, while the Magic Crystal Chunk had to be made into a fine powder.
Sucrose twitched her ears, pondered for a moment, then looked over Nolan through her lenses. She then shyly averted her gaze slightly to the ground. With the side of her fair face towards Nolan, it showed her delicate and exquisite jawline.
Due to her nature, she said somewhat awkwardly:
"Umm... Mister Nolan, could you please... help grind the Magic Crystal Chunk into powder?"
"Sure."
Nolan hadn't expected there to be something for him to do, but he was happy to participate.
The open-air alchemy shed where the crafting table was located had grinding tools.
Nolan only needed to put the Magic Crystal Chunk into the mortar, then slowly push the pestle around. The Magic Crystal Chunk inside would naturally turn into powder over time.
As for smelting the Electro Crystal into liquid, that task was naturally Sucrose's.
Putting two Electro Crystal Chunks into the burning furnace, then guiding Anemo to continuously diffuse - this way, the efficiency would clearly be higher.
The two remaining Electro Crystal Chunks were left for Sucrose to continue the previous experiment on "the effects of Electro on the growth of Sunsettias."
Since preparing these materials was quite time consuming, by the time everything was ready, over an hour had passed.
On the table in front of Sucrose were three glass flasks. One held red viscous liquid, one had blue powder.
The last one contained a purple, water-like liquid, that flickered with traces of electricity if observed closely.
"Phew~"
Sucrose, wearing white gloves, clenched her hands to psych herself up.
Timaeus and Nolan watched intently, one wanting to learn from the experience, the other simply curious.
"Umm... according to my estimates, these materials should be enough to make around five bottles each of Pyro Potion and Electro Potion."
As Sucrose spoke, she also took out new glass test tubes.
She thought for a bit, then first picked up the flask containing the red viscous liquid. Bringing the flask mouth to the opening of a test tube, she slowly poured it in.
The red viscous liquid flowed down along the transparent glass wall to the bottom of the test tube, then slowly rose from the bottom.
Sucrose looked at it levelly. When it reached the 10-centimeter mark etched on the test tube, she precisely stopped pouring.
"Very good. Next is adding the Magic Crystal powder to activate it. This part will be a bit dangerous. The Luminescent Spine stabilizer must be added within three seconds, otherwise... otherwise, it will explode!"
The afternoon sunshine coming in through the edges of the shed shone obliquely on Sucrose's legs wrapped in over-the-knee stockings, bathing them in brilliant radiance from right to left. A slender shadow stretched across the ground.
Sucrose, concentrated on crafting the Elemental Potion, spoke without any of the shyness or embarrassment present during normal conversation.
Although she mentioned the danger, based on her experience from hundreds, if not thousands, of more difficult alchemical experiments, there was no possibility of accidents in preparing simple elemental potions.
As soon as the blue Magic Crystal powder entered the test tube, the red viscous liquid instantly started boiling like hot water, turning towards a fiery color.
At this time, the prepared Luminescent Spine was immediately added, stopping the boiling, but the entire test tube changed from red to a blazing crimson.
"Success!"
Through the lenses of her round half-frame glasses, besides being able to catch a glimpse of her fair skin, the most captivating were her eyes filled with joy.
"So you're saying this test tube has become a 'bomb' that will release massive Pyro damage when thrown?"
Nolan asked curiously.
"That's right. It can be totally used as an impact-triggered Fire Bomb!"
Sucrose pushed up her glasses that had slid down a little and nodded with a smile.
"Miss Sucrose, watching for so long, I do have a question."
"Usually, once crystal ore is eroded by Ley Line energy and turns into Magic Crystal, it becomes very difficult to utilize. This potion recipe doesn't look that complicated either. How can the Magic Crystal powder be used?"
Timaeus scratched his head, completely puzzled by this.
"Umm... I had the same doubt initially, but obtained the answer during the process of crafting the potion just now."
Sucrose's index finger touched her chin as she thought for a bit before continuing:
"Actually, when the Magic Crystal powder was added to the liquid containing dormant Pyro elements, no reaction occurred with it.
"That is to say, the Magic Crystal itself wasn't utilized. It just stimulated the Pyro elements in the liquid with the Ley Line erosion energy it contained, allowing the Pyro elements to become active.
"If something else with the same effect is found, it can be substituted. But the specific dosages and ratios would need to be calculated through multiple experiments."
Timaeus, also an alchemist, easily understood Sucrose's meaning in her words.
And Nolan, having studied high school chemistry, although he had mostly forgotten it by now, the basic chemical literacy he had developed wouldn't disappear.
So he also understood the gist of it.
(T/N: But I don't !! I hate Chemestry!!!)
"Right... because the main ingredient was changed from Flaming Flower nectar to Blazing Blossom petals, its power has increased tremendously too.
"For this slightly improved Pyro Potion, to maintain experimental rigor, it shouldn't continue using its previous name. Improved... compared to the original name, how about calling it 'Enhanced Pyro Potion - Formula #2'!"
To come up with a name, Sucrose engaged in deep thought.
Just then, as Nolan was feeling somewhat amused, the status panel suddenly popped up a prompt:
【Comprehended The Potion Formula "Enhanced Pyro Potion - Formula #2"】
