[Superman] Chapter 73: Observing the Cosmic Storm? You're Thinking Too Small!
🕑 Added 2024-01-28 16:24:47 +0000 UTC"Shocking! The identity of the madman who attacked the dinner party is exposed, he is actually...!"
"Osborn Industries has been seized by the government, and various illegal activities have been revealed..."
"A 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck a certain island nation in Asia, affecting over a million disaster-stricken people..."
The next day, the New York media was flooded with news about the previous night's banquet.
With the Green Goblin's true identity exposed as Oscorp CEO Norman Osborn, the once mighty Oscorp Industries completely collapsed overnight.
Numerous shareholders hastily dumped their shares at low prices, but there were no fools to pick them up.
With Oscorp Industries seized and forcibly shut down by the government, this incident was temporarily brought to an end.
However, the impact of this incident did not stop there.
At this moment, those who had doubted the connection between Stellar Technology and Superman were completely convinced of this "rumor" after this incident.
More importantly, everyone witnessed Superman's anger firsthand.
They also understood that reality was not the idyllic world of comics; Superman in the real world did not adhere to the ludicrous no-kill rule.
This made the upper echelons of society even more cautious when dealing with anything related to Superman.
...
In the Aleutian Islands of central Alaska, there is a volcano named Cleveland.
It suddenly became unusually active today.
The magma inside the volcano surged violently, like a boiling pot of oil.
Thick volcanic ash erupted from the crater first.
With the momentum of an avalanche, it covered the sky like thick dark clouds.
The tremendous pressure caused the surrounding mountains to collapse, and together with the dense volcanic ash, they rushed towards the nearby area like an avalanche.
"Oh no, it's a volcanic eruption! Everyone, run!"
As the thick volcanic ash covered the entire sky, the residents of a small town closest to the volcano realized the severity of the problem and began to flee without hesitation.
However..
Accompanied by a roar resembling that of the god of fire.
The volcano began to spew out high-temperature magma glowing with red light from the crater.
The dim sky was instantly rendered a fiery red.
Humans, in the face of nature, appeared extremely small under this spectacular apocalyptic scene.
Everyone stopped running and stared blankly at the sky burning with flames.
They knew that it was too late to run now.
"Look, what's that?"
"It's Superman! Fantastic, Superman is here to save us!"
Just as everyone felt they were about to perish under this sudden volcanic eruption.
A figure swiftly flew across the sky, heading towards the overwhelming flames.
"Can he succeed?"
At this moment, everyone had this question in their minds.
After all, in the face of furious nature, humanity seemed so insignificant, even Superman.
"Please, you must succeed!"
Yet, they preferred to believe in miracles.
"A volcanic eruption? No big deal..."
As Peter arrived above the crater of the volcano, he unhesitatingly exhaled his signature freezing breath toward the crater.
With a strength hundreds of times greater than before, Peter's freezing breath became immensely powerful at this moment.
Almost instantly, the shimmering translucent mist of freezing air completely enveloped the enormous active volcano spewing lava below.
Creak creak...
Accompanied by an uncomfortable sound.
The scorching magma cooled almost instantly and directly froze into a mass.
In less than ten seconds, the volcano that had been continuously erupting had turned into an iceberg covered by ice.
"Amazing, Superman did it!"
Amidst the excited cheers and the system prompts of gaining massive points ringing in his mind, Superman nodded satisfactorily and then flew straight towards the horizon.
…
New York City, Stellar Technology Temporary Office Building Top Floor.
A figure flew in without any disguise.
Since most people already knew, Peter decided not to pretend anymore.
"In fact, I'm the company's CEO. I'm coming clean!"
Peter, entering the building, didn't hesitate and went straight to the closed laboratory.
"Mr. Superman, you're here."
As Peter entered the laboratory, Reed, who was conducting some special experiment, stopped the experiment and greeted him first.
"How's it going? Can Pym Particles really shrink the size of the portal?"
Peter nodded at Reed and looked curiously at the huge teleportation portal device sitting in the lab as he asked.
Reed had previously suggested to him the idea of using Pym particles to shrink the teleportation portal, which made him think of the portal gun used by Rick Sanchez in a certain anime.
So mentally, Peter was very supportive of Reed conducting experiments in this area.
Of course, everything had to be under his supervision.
Otherwise, Peter was afraid that one day he would open the lab door and be greeted by a bunch of zombies...
"Mr. Superman, this experiment is very complex. The teleportation portal is different from the artificial star, it simply cannot be shrunk by ordinary means."
"As for your idea of making it into a toy gun, I'm afraid it's a bit of a fantasy at this point..."
Reed looked conflicted, hoping to dispel Peter's notion of turning the teleportation portal into a toy gun.
"Ahem, I was just kidding about that."
Peter explained awkwardly.
Suddenly, the lab door opened again.
"Reed, look, that cosmic storm is about to... Oh, Mr. Superman, hello!"
A burly bald man suddenly rushed in and excitedly yelled at Reed, but stopped halfway when he saw Peter in the lab.
"Mr. Superman, this is my best friend since childhood, Ben Grimm, he's part of the company now."
Seeing Peter's curious look, Reed quickly introduced.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Grimm."
"Mr. Superman, just call me Ben, thank you for giving us this great opportunity..."
Ben looked very excited.
"Alright, Ben, you were saying something about a cosmic storm?"
Peter smiled and nodded, then asked curiously.
"Uh, let me explain."
"Mr. Superman, before you kid...recruited me, cosmic storms were what I studied."
"Back then I predicted a cosmic storm would pass through the solar system in a few months and be very close to Earth."
"So I wanted to observe the cosmic storm up close, hoping to uncover the mysteries of human origins. Unfortunately, no one supported me doing so at the time, until I met you..."
At this moment, Reed's expression was somewhat lamenting.
No one could have imagined that he, who was kidnapped by Superman, would have the opportunity to realize his previous dream plan.
"So, Ben, what's up with that cosmic storm you just mentioned?"
After a glance at Reed, Ben no longer hesitated after nodding from the other party.
"Mr. Superman, according to our detection, that cosmic storm is approaching the solar system, and it may arrive near Earth in less than a month."
And Reed also showed a hint of excitement in his eyes, unable to help but continue: "In that case, we will soon be able to ride a spaceship into space and prepare to observe that mysterious cosmic storm up close?"
"A spaceship? Simple observation?"
"Too small, you're thinking too small!"
Peter suddenly spoke, interrupting Reed's excitement.
"Mr. Superman, what do you mean?"
"Just using a spaceship for simple observation? What's the point?"
"Instead, why don't we take this time to build a gigantic space station, and directly capture that cosmic storm when the time comes!"
And as Peter's confident words came out, Reed and Ben's expressions instantly froze in shock.
