[Superman] Chapter 69: Charging Towards the Sun!
🕑 Added 2024-01-20 17:14:29 +0000 UTC"Ancient One, since this guy has chosen to stay here and cultivate magic, I shall take my leave first."
Now that it was determined that Tony's fate had been preliminarily altered by the system.
Peter naturally would not linger here either, and directly bid farewell and left.
"Do you need me to send someone to escort you?"
Ancient One maintained a kindly smile throughout.
"No need, I can make my own way."
Peter did not hesitate, standing up and walking out of the hall under Ancient One's company, then rushing straight towards the horizon.
Although this place was outside the real world in a special magical dimension, for Peter it seemed to pose no obstacles whatsoever.
"Ancient One, the newcomer has been settled in."
Just as Ancient One raised her head watching Peter's disappearing figure, the cold-faced mage from before had already come back after getting Tony settled in.
"Thank you for your trouble, Mage Kaecilius."
Ancient One slowly turned around, facing Kaecilius to express hergratitude.
"Ancient One, regarding Superman's visit this time..."
After hesitating for a moment, Kaecilius still couldn't help but ask with some curiosity.
After all, before this, their mage community and Superman never had any interactions.
"He came to confirm certain matters, that's all."
Ancient One gazed once more in the direction Peter's figure had long vanished, and slowly spoke.
"Alright, enough of him. Mage Kaecilius, if I remember correctly, it's been two years since you came to Kamar-Taj, right?"
Ancient One's eyes turned to Kaecilius, seemingly reminiscing about something.
"That's right, Ancient One. And I must thank you again for taking in someone as lost and desperate as me two years ago, allowing me to come into contact with the Mystic Arts, and opening the door to another world for me."
Although Kaecilius' expression remained very cold, his eyes were brimming with deep respect.
Back then, his wife and child had died in an accident, and he had fallen into degeneracy for a long time, until he met Ancient One before him.
"So now, have you found the answers you desperately sought back then?"
Ancient One gazed at Kaecilius with an inexplicable emotion in her eyes.
"Forgive me, Ancient One. Back then I was filled with extreme grief, which led me to desperately pursue ways to revive my loved ones."
At this moment, Kaecilius' expression was exceptionally calm. It seemed he was no longer deeply grieved by the loss of his loved ones.
"However, through your guidance, I have come to terms with it. Magic is not omnipotent. Even if there were ways to revive my loved ones, it would likely come at an unimaginably tremendous cost."
"The passing of my loved ones, although an accident, was also fate's decree. As an individual, I ultimately cannot defy the laws governing all things in the universe."
"From now on, I will devote my entire life to Kamar-Taj, eternally safeguarding the reality of Earth, ensuring no encroachment from beings of other dimensions."
As he spoke, Kaecilius' expression showed no concealment, only acceptance. Although he still grieved for his departed loved ones, he would not go against the laws of nature to revive them, much less use forbidden magic.
He even swore to safeguard Kamar-Taj and Earth's reality, for the rest of his life.
"Very well. Since that is the case, Mage Kaecilius, you shall be the one to mentor and teach the new mage from now on."
Ancient One's eyes glinted as she slowly instructed Kaecilius, then turned and strode back into the hall.
...
In the air, Peter who had just left Kamar-Taj slowed down his flight.
His consciousness immersed in the system, taking stock of his recent gains.
Having just completed the mission of changing Tony's fate, he was rewarded with over ten thousand points.
And the system shop had also successfully unlocked.
"Let me see what good stuff is in the shop."
Peter was very curious what exactly was in the system shop. He remembered there seemed to be all kinds of Superman templates.
【Golden Superman Template, Ultimate Superman Template, Beyond Superman Template, Silver Superman Template, Doomsday Superman Template...】
"Damn, the system shop is this awesome? It has almost all the templates from the comics!"
With just a glance, Peter was attracted by the dazzling array of Superman templates.
"Too bad the points required are a bit high!"
However, although those powerful superhuman templates were very enticing, the points required for them were also in the millions, some even over ten million.
This was completely beyond what he could afford at the moment.
Of course, apart from those overpowered god-like Superman templates from the comics, there were also some cheaper templates, like...
【Welling Superman Template, Rift Superman Template, Brandon Superman template, Cage Superman template, Middle-aged Superman Template (from Superman and Lois) and the weakest Henry Superman Template...】
Alright, these templates weren't as expensive as the comic book ones.
Unfortunately, their prices were still between several hundred thousand to a million.
Especially the Rift Superman template, which had a price comparable to the comic book templates, perhaps due to its ability to reverse Earth's time at super speed.
There was also a special template, the Middle-aged Superman Template. It had two versions, an ordinary one with a cheaper price.
The other was a pseudo-Gold Superman template, with a price comparable to the Rift Superman Template. (The ordinary template also had the potential to evolve into pseudo-Gold Superman, but it required absorbing energy in the sun's core, and had a chance of failure.)
"The expensive one should be the stage after entering the sun's core and gaining the tremendous power of splitting two universes."
"Alright, is the system shop trying to remind me that I'm just a poor dog who can't afford anything right now?"
Peter felt a little disappointed, seeing all those templates powerful enough to destroy the universe yet lacking the points to purchase them - this was pure torture.
Fortunately, these points weren't completely useless either.
Apart from Superman's various powerful templates, the system shop also sold many objects that existed in the Marvel universe.
Materials like vibranium, adamantium alloy, uru metal, branches of Yggdrasil, Yaka metal were available.
Their prices were surprisingly affordable too, the same as gold and sand, only 1 point per kg.
Other special items like the Vibranium Shield(Caption’s), Iron Man armor, Mjolnir, Stormbreaker, the Eternal Spear...even Infinity Stones, the Cosmic Cube, Reality Warper etc. were also for sale.
Unfortunately, perhaps due to the uniqueness of these items, their prices were much higher than materials.
Mjolnir alone cost 50,000 points, while the Infinity Stones required hundreds of millions - simply not worth it.
However, with the shop unlocked, the ways to earn points were no longer limited to missions and changing a character's fate.
Resolving disasters like floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions etc. could also earn points.
Even causing disasters would earn points too.
"Well, if I collect the Infinity Stones like Thanos and destroy the entire universe..."
Peter didn't dare continue that train of thought, afraid he might really be tempted to do so.
Withdrawing his consciousness from the system shop, Peter suddenly recalled that his suit-making mission still hadn't been submitted.
"Submitting suit-making mission."
Peter didn't hesitate, directly submitting the mission.
【Congratulations Host, suit-making mission accomplished. Reward: Middle-aged Superman Template (ordinary version)...Note: The template will only fuse, not replace.】
"Damn, why is it only the ordinary version? If it was the pseudo-Gold Superman template, I could have flown straight up into the sky."
Peter felt somewhat regretful. If the reward was pseudo-Gold Superman, he could have saved millions of points and flown straight up.
"Oh well, beggars can't be choosers. Let's fuse!"
As Peter chose to fuse with the template.
The next moment, an unimaginably vast power suddenly emerged within him.
The terrifying power caused his original strength to explosively increase by almost a hundredfold.
"Holy crap, an ordinary template is already this strong? Is it because he's middle-aged and absorbed decades more sunlight?"
Peter did not expect this outcome at all. His original slow flight speed just past the speed of sound instantly increased by nearly a hundred times.
"If this was in space, wouldn't I be able to break the speed of light?"
Without any more hesitation, Peter immediately changed direction and shot straight towards space.
"The sun?"
Upon arriving in space, gazing at the dazzlingly bright star, a certain thought could no longer be suppressed in Peter's heart.
His entire body accelerated in space, transforming into a brilliant streak of light, shooting straight at the sun!
...
PS: There was a bit more about the system this chapter, I(Author-sama, not me) will try to reduce its appearance in the future.
