I'm not going to comment on Platner in particular, but I don't think the idea that a veteran being proud of their service is a red flag unto itself. Maybe that's not what you meant to say but it sounds like it. If there's one thing the left continues to shoot itself in the foot on, it's purity testing and how it stands in the way of coalition building. Veterans are one of the most abused populations by the conservative legislation paradigm and while there are some folks that proclaim proud complicity ideologically with the military industrial complex and American imperialist agenda, the reality of most service members and veterans political orientations are far more nuanced, just like the general population.

Damn, I missed the conversation. I guess it's nbd since my extraordinarily nuanced take is "I believe that people can change and I think Planter is still the best option, but this is a lot of red flags so if someone better decides to run I'd definitely get behind them."
