There have been plenty of times when I've felt sure of someone's name, but still felt the need to double check before saying it.
There are also plenty of characters in fiction whose names I simply do not remember. I remember their appearance, I remember the things they do, but ask me their name? Unless their names get said a lot, odds are, I'm going to draw a massive blank.
As for Maribel the Chicken, I haven't been forgetting "Maribel," but I have been double-checking to make sure I actually did choose that name a lot, and I have thought both "Mabel" and "Maple" in reference to the chicken.

Just because we don't see it happen doesn't mean it didn't happen (Also Elliot is a bit of a himbo so maybe he just didn't notice)

Probably not, neither parent had the problem, it seems to be related to how I grew up.

Or perhaps Ellen is simply a very hardcore fan of Gravity Falls and had been refraining from doing that exact mistake for the whole session. It's ok Ellen, anyone in the same situation would have been just as confused as you are.

I have this problem since childhood, sometimes I forget my children's names or my wife's of 45 years.

Can't tell if Ellen is having trouble with names because double agent parallel dimension shenanigans. (she spent a full lifetime there, and has barely been here, what? 8 months?) or if its just a silly cute thing like Dan does with all the characters. either way is valid!

The idea of the chicken's name being Maple amused me... When they try to use her for the ritual, and discover even their sharpest knife can't scratch her.
