Whenever I try dual-wielding pickaxes in Skyrim, I end up going "I'm not a speedrunner for crying out loud". Whole mine is cleared out fast enough as it is already when I do wait on the actual mining animation.

I've been laughing about this all day

depends; a thing i would call a mattock is often called pickaxe, which is def 2-handed; half-way between that and geologist's hammer is the one-handed pickaxe.

The party is getting into this dungeon because Larry succeeded in persuasion by virtue of hotness. That's the connection.

Some Ed

Pickaxes are meant to be wielded two-handed if I'm not mistaken. That said, I do think they're probably lighter than ones standard two-handed war hammer or axe. Just not enough for most non-barbarians to wield them one-handed.

Some Ed

Some people have difficulty distinguishing themselves from their RPG character, and also confuse their fellow players for their fellow party members. By this logic, he just said a "gay" thing.

I am trying, but can't think of what other meaning he would intend here, and skimming the rest of this storyline didn't help. What am I missing?

I assume George already has a 10-feet pole and 50 feet of rope. I can't picture him going out of his way to get a pickaxe while forgetting about the most basic tools of the trade.

If you're playing Nethack, a pickaxe is pretty much a requirement in the Gnomish Mines levels. And great to use to empty out Croesus' vaults if you find them.

Pickaxe = one-handed war hammer or bec de corbin for purposes of figuring damage and negating opposing shields. I once played a dwarven miner the party rescued and ended up recruiting. She fought with a pickaxe.

When it comes to dungeoneering, I'd rather make sure I have an over abundance of rope more than a pick axe. Comes in handy when someone's character accidentally falls down an abandoned mine shaft or into a pit trap.

"Yes, and...?"

Things you say in an RPG that you instantly regret

Stephen Gilberg

It took me a minute to remember the connection between Rich's two statements. At first I thought he meant, "I always wanted to take a hot chick to a dungeon," which sounds sordid.
