PCraft Revorn: 3.0.0pre1 | Silverfish Playtest
🕑 Added 2024-12-25 00:39:34 +0000 UTCMerry Christmas to those that celebrate it! While its not a full update, I wanted to give you guys a little taste of the new animation style and expressiveness I'm wanting to give to the preds in this mod. Besides the silverfish, this also brings the QoL addition of an actual config, meaning all of your preferences can be set once and apply to all worlds you play in that profile. While it will only have the malePredChance option for this playtest, I am looking into making the config file contain many useful options.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Silverfish's struggle animations are not as complete as they could be and the struggle contest animation is entirely untouched. This is mostly due to not wanting to put a ton of work into them when they'll be getting reworked in 4.0.0 and the system as a whole will likely be changing then.
As for the actual version notes themselves:
PCraft Config File
-PCraft now has a config file, found in the config folder of your minecraft instance
malePredChance config option added
malePredChance gamerule removed
New Pred: Silverfish
The Silverfish is a fun new pred. Coming in both genders, they are unique in the fact that there is no chest or chest wg for either pred, instead they are purely bottom-heavy preds. While calmed by the Glowberry High effect, you can feed them full ore blocks (not raw ore blocks) to gain rewards greater than Fortune 3!
Has a male and female variant; counts as an arthropod
Spawns in the overworld at y levels below 50
5% chance to spawn a normal Silverfish on death, guranteed if the Silverfish has gained weight
4 Attack Damage, 12 Health, 12 Armor, 0.4 Knockback Resistance, Very Fast Movespeed
10% - 30% Struggle Difficulty, 7-11 Struggles Needed, -3% - 2% Swallow Threshold, 30% - 40% Swallow Chance, 1.18 Swallow Health Modifier, 2.2 Initial Acids Rate, 0.02 Acid Incriment Rate, 18.8 Max Acids Rate
While under the glowberry high effect, she can be fed full ore blocks to drop rewards better than fortune 3 (2x better in some cases)
Has 20 fullness in total, different ores fill more than others
4 Fullness: Diamonds
2 Fullness: Copper, Iron, Gold, and Emeralds
1 Fullness: Coal, Lapis, Redstone
Fullness resets 5 minutes after first feeding the silverfish (feeding more doesn't lengthen the timer)
Vinemaiden
Spawn Weight Increased 12 -> 18
Royal Castle Remnant:
Minimum Chunk Spacing 8 -> 11
Average Chunk Spacing 13 -> 16

Im a little late but been loving everything thats been added and excited to see more. One thing i had an issue with was the config file doesnt seem to work no matter what you set it at its still 50/50

Bro the silverfish fortune. I feel like the strat for any kind of survival world would be to get one of these in a box similar to villagers with a name tag. After that your good for every ore block aside form like redstone and coal.

Having a hard time understanding the config, whats the command cause I'm lost
Urdadsblack
Yeah I Understand putting your ideas into a game but probably in the future you could combine PCraft and Vcraft the player can toggle to be a prey/pred and they'll be other npc preds just an idea though feel free to use it in the future ;)
Mystic Summoner
Probably. It’s just that right now, the joy of making it is gone for me, so I’m focusing on PCraft as it has the creative outlets I crave via making the preds and animating them.
Urdadsblack
Will you ever remake Vcraft again?
DiceBagSys
Maybe you can manually remove the plates as well as giving them a chance to pop off automatically on WG? Mellowing potion, and then shears? That way you get both possibilities!

Not inherently related to the new mob, but after playing around in the new update, I had an odd bug occur where a mushroom Vinemaiden reverted to a normal poppy Vinemaiden after using the porkchop to increase her WG level to max. This doesn't seem to happen from feeding her normally so it wouldn't really impact anything in survival gameplay, but I figured it was worth mentioning since it seemed like unintended behavior
Mystic Summoner
Hmm, I’ll play around with that, yeah. Though when it comes to taming, I know not everything can be tameable, and I can’t just make her tameable as a config option as tameable entities have to be creatures as far as I know, so it would have to not count as a monster entity in that case. Still I’ll… maybe look into it as a future option, though it will be extremely low priority.

Tuff could be good since it's worthless. You mentioned how Silverfish CONSOOM stone, so how about feeding them some stone bricks? Alternatively, glazed terracotta sounds pretty tasty. Still, I wish there was a possibility of taming them (it could be something rare like netherite ingots or crying obsidian).
Mystic Summoner
Most likely not, simply because they stay out in the open due to being too large to burrow in stone like the smaller form they mutated from. That being said, that did give me the idea that while under the Glowberry high effect, they can be lured like livestock can. I’m not sure exactly what, but perhaps they can be lured by some sort of favorite food block? I’m thinking potentially tuff or a special ore-like block than can be found in tuff.

Didn't think about that, that makes complete sense, thanks for the reply. Though I now have an additional question to add: Will the silverfish be able to hide inside stones like the regular ones? It could be a method of transport for us kinda like beehive collected with silk touch tools.
Mystic Summoner
Thanks for the feedback! I actually do find the idea of its armor plates popping off when it gains weight to be a very interesting idea! I think I may make Silverfish Plating into an actual item and change its texturing to expose the soft, blue skin underneath the wg parts instead :3
Mystic Summoner
Thank you for the feedback! When it comes to attack targets, the Silverfish doesn’t have any natural ones simply due to the fact that I wasn’t sure what would make sense for her to target that wouldn’t cause too much chaos. I might look into making her eat Villagers and Pillagers if she somehow makes it to the surface. And when it comes to not eating Nether Ores, that is an intentional feature. It’s the actual stone itself she eats, leaving you with the ores inside perfectly harvested, so I decided she probably wouldn’t want to eat the nether ores due to the stone they are made out of being too different to the normal stones she eats.

I tested the Silverfish a bit, and noticed maybe one or two things that would need change: -except the player, the silverfish doesn't have any target, which can make her weight gain a bit harder due to that. Also, might not be an actual issue, but she cannot eat ores from the Nether, like gold in blackstone or netherrack.
SneakyStranger
I tested the Silverfish on creative and survival, it spawns fairly frequently and is easy to pick out by sound unlike some others *cough* ZomGirl *cough*, slightly more difficult to put down than a zombie combat-wise. Its ability to eat ore blocks is great. The main thing I dislike about the Silverfish is that its main feature is obscured completely by the armor and the tail. The armor plates around its butt/thighs/hips should pop off as it grows bigger (potential new drop?). Changes to the spawn rate of Vinemaides were very good I managed to find a few (5) within the first 30 minutes of playing a new world.
