I align myself with Frieren but initially I did think that they were perhaps misunderstood way back when it was discussing the little girl demon and Himmel's choice to rescue her only for it to all end in tears. I haven't watched too many shows in relation to demons to really make a conclusion on the depiction because it's not something I've routinely seen depicted or even read about? But what I love about the way Frieren does it is that we are instinctively, as humans, drawn to being empathetic and the show intends that only for us to then be confronted with the fact that our empathy has been used against us. That in this universe we would be manipulated by a monster with no capacity to understand human emotions or attachments. I think it's a nice departure from 'monster misunderstood / not bad' to 'monster is as evil as depicted and you allowed your empathy to sway you because you're human'

I don’t know if anyone has asked you this about the show yet, but I’m going to ask: what’s your view on how Frieren portrayed the demons? That part is somewhat controversial online, whereas for me it’s one of the most incredible aspects of Frieren.
