Weekly Update: Next Build Dates

As you may recall, we've been trying to get the latest build out before the holidays, but we hit a few unexpected snags. This means we'll have to unfortunately postpone the release of build 0.4.5 to January. This is not a decision that was done easily, but we feel releasing a buggy mess with none of the new features would be a bad move indeed. Not that we had much of a choice either, because the project was rife with problems. Here's a short summary from our lead programmer on what exactly the issue was:
"Generally, we try to package regularly, though the last two weeks have been hectic because of a few unexpected mishaps. Upgrading to a newer hotfix of the Unreal engine is usually ok, but this time it created some peculiar errors.
Overall, the hotfix broke a few VR blueprints, corrupted a bunch of sequences (in-game cinematics), caused two levels to need special treatment for some reason, and caused many other weird miscellaneous warnings/errors, topped off with a circular dependency error.
This nice present was left for us from the previous programmer, plus one of the current programmers that continued for a bit on the same trend. The circular dependency was the most time-consuming to fix as it meant moving things around in code so the inventory system and the main system wouldn't include each other. All this had to be done while also making sure it wouldn't break other stuff either (at least not too much). The truth is the inventory system needs to be reworked into a more stable and feature-rich system."
So as you can see, we've got our work cut out for us. Normally this wouldn't be too much of a delay, but with the holidays upon us and many of our team members going for their vacations, we simply don't have enough time to push out a build.

Sorry you feel this way but hopefully I can explain what happened - first of all, the lower backers don't get older builds - everyone are getting the same builds at the same time apart from this time when we decided to try and do a test build for the 100+ backers. It's a test build, meaning it has a lot of bugs still and problems - it's just in case they want to try it early when it's still not stable enough to go to the public. As for communication, we are actually trying to be very open about everything and post an update every weekend on how things are (we didn't during the last 2 weeks because of end-of-the-year holidays). So.. I am not sure how we can do this better if I'm honest. Delays suck, we know and we didn't plan for the delay, but some last-moment problems jumped and we just couldn't release it on time and announced it once that happened and also when we are going to release in-stead. If you have any ideas how we could have done this better I'm very happy to hear though (for real!)

I kind of agree. Maybe they don't want to post anything without the content to back it up but unless you are paying 100$ a month you don't get anything that is described below. I also find it counter productive to give lower backers a older beta version of the game? Restricting access to certain features like god mode, money, cheats, Succbubus powers early but giving a buggier, jankier version of the game for people who are actually interested in paying a monthly 'PATRON' fee is absurd. I'm backing the Patreon for a month then canceling, This looks like a great project but the PR for this crew really needs a facelift. I'm sure the game is being worked on I don't doubt that. But this feels super inactive, the discord seems so as well. Maybe things will change when the game finally drops?

You are not verbal. I understand that certain things can happen, but if you want to be a professional and if you care about customers, you should inform in advance or keep up to date. You totally don't care. The question is, if you were meeting a girl on a date, would you also do this ????? A week after the deadline they said you won't come after all ???? NO COMMENT! In my opinion, you cannot be trusted, not professional behavior, disregard for users. I unsubscribe!
