He slipped off his shoes, changed into something more comfortable, and crawled into bed without bothering to scroll through his phone. His mind was still looping through every moment. the dinner, Mia's questions, the way her eyes had watched him so closely. The way she had taken the key.
It all felt surreal, like he had walked into a dream he didn't know he had.
But sleep came easily. After all, he'd been wearing it to bed since he bought the device. The tightness was no longer a distraction. It was becoming familiar. Comforting, even.
When morning light crept through the curtains, Ethan stirred with a heavy sigh. His first thought was of the night before. He stared at the ceiling, trying to make sense of what he had done. Had he actually handed over the key? Just like that?
A pang of doubt twisted in his chest. "Did I really think this through... or was I just turned on?"
He rubbed at his eyes, trying to shake off the question, but another thought pushed its way through, steady and quiet. "No. That's not it. This is what I wanted."

The café door chimed as Ethan stepped inside, just like every morning. The comforting scent of fresh coffee and warm pastries wrapped around him, grounding him in routine, at least for a moment.
Then he saw her.

He didn't read it until he stepped outside.
"Tonight. My place again. I'll message you the time. Let's see how much tension you're still holding."
His stomach flipped, and not from the coffee. He folded the note and tucked it into his pocket, a small grin tugging at his lips as he walked down the street.
Whatever this was becoming, it wasn't just a game anymore.
Ethan's day passed in a strange blur. Compared to the whirlwind of yesterday, he actually felt a little more grounded, maybe even calmer. Knowing where the key was, who had it, and that it hadn't just disappeared into the unknown gave him an odd sense of relief. A kind of structure.

Part of him was at his desk, nodding along with lectures.

When Ethan finally got home, the door had barely closed behind him before the weight of the day came crashing down on him. He checked his phone just before knocking.

Two minutes late.
His stomach sank slightly as he raised his hand to the door. The difference between being on time and being late felt massive under Mia's rules, even if she hadn't spelled them out yet.He knocked gently.

"Come in," she said, stepping aside with a teasing lift of her brow. "We've got time to talk about that. Among other things."
Ethan stepped inside, the door closing softly behind him. The apartment smelled faintly of something warm and floral, and the cozy lighting made the space feel intimate, even quiet. But that calm was quickly broken by Mia's steady voice.
"Sit," she said, motioning toward the same chair he'd used during their dinner.
He obeyed, sitting down quickly, pulse thudding in his ears. Mia remained standing for a moment, arms lightly crossed, her posture relaxed, but her eyes locked on his with unsettling focus.
"We need to settle some rules," she began, her tone calm but unmistakably firm. "Clearly, someone needs a little help with structure."
Ethan opened his mouth, but she raised a finger, just enough to stop him before a word escaped.
"Two minutes late," she said. "Now, I'm not angry. This isn't a punishment. But if this is something you're really going to give yourself to, Ethan, then you're going to have to learn one thing very quickly."
She stepped closer, until she was standing directly in front of him.
"When I say twenty minutes, I don't mean twenty-two. When I say I expect you at a certain time, I expect you. Not early. Not late. On time."
He nodded slowly, eyes wide.
"Tonight," she continued, a hint of a smile returning to her lips, "I'm giving you a pass. Consider it... an orientation."
Her gaze sharpened slightly, voice dropping just a little.
"But next time, if you break a rule... there will be consequences. Understood?"
Ethan swallowed hard and nodded again, quieter this time.
"Good," Mia said, finally letting a playful curl return to her expression. "Now that we've got that out of the way... shall we begin?"
Mia reached into her pocket and pulled out a small notebook, flipping it open to a clean page.
"Alright," she said, voice steady and confident, "here are the rules you need to follow while the key is with me."
She began reading them off one by one, her tone both serious and calm:
"One. Punctuality. When I set a time for you, be there exactly on time. No exceptions.
Two. Respect. You will always speak to me respectfully and follow my instructions.
Three. Honesty. If something is wrong or you're struggling, you tell me. No hiding.
Four. Communication. You will check in with me regularly, especially if you want to discuss your limits or feelings.
Five. No attempts to remove the cage. Trying to escape or tamper with the device without permission will result in immediate consequences.
Six . Privacy. Our arrangement stays between us unless we agree otherwise.
Seven. Trust. You must trust me to make decisions about when you can have a release."
She looked up at Ethan, letting the weight of the rules settle between them.
"These aren't just suggestions," Mia said. "They're the foundation. If you want to keep this going, you need to follow them. Are we clear?"
Ethan nodded firmly, understanding just how serious she was.
Mia pulled the notebook back out and flipped to a fresh page.
"There's a few more things," she said, her tone becoming a bit firmer. "Rules that aren't just about timing or respect, but about how we interact—especially when we're alone."
She read carefully, making sure he caught every word:
"Eight. Use of honorifics. When we're alone, you will address me as 'Miss Mia', 'Misstress' or 'Ma'am.' It's about respect and mindset.
Nine. No casual touching. You don't touch yourself or try to relieve yourself without my permission.Ten. Permission to speak freely. Ethan took a deep breath, feeling the weight of responsibility settling over him.
"Do you understand all of that?"
He nodded, his voice steady but quiet.
"Yes, Miss Mia."
She smiled, satisfied.
"Good," she said, closing the notebook and slipping it back into her pocket. "Now, let's talk about what comes next."
"Now, I need you to prepare for the inspection."
He swallowed hard but didn't speak.
"Remove everything," she added, her tone leaving no room for argument.
He hesitated, the weight of what was coming pressing down on him.
The silence stretched between them, thick with unspoken questions.
