The Hillside Altar
🕑 Added 2017-12-31 05:31:07 +0000 UTC An ominous, blood-soaked altar has appeared deep in the wilderness, in a shallow cave under a stout hill. What could be its origin, or its purpose?I want to experiment a lot more with my art in 2018, and I thought I would start with this high contrast digital piece. It's freeing to know I can make a map start-to-finish on my laptop, though I will definitely be keeping hand-drawn maps a staple around here. :)

Thanks! I intend to experiment a lot and hopefully progress my "main style" in doing so, adopting bits and pieces as I go.

I used a new program called Leonardo for the lines as it's super quick, and the quicker the software the more fun I tend to have. I used Photoshop for the coloring. I've never explored Illustrator so I can't weigh in, sorry!

Thank you Gail! The nice thing about drawing digitally is how easy it is to zoom in and get intimate with every square inch. It makes for a somewhat noisy thumbnail, but a fun battle map!

Oh and have tho ask, did you end up using photoshop or different software for creating the map? Have been debating about switching to illustrator for vector art so it can be blown up huge for printing but wasn't sure if it was worth the time/investment

Omg this is amazing, I love your work re: lighting and all the little assets included for more nuance and options for roleplay and combat. There are so many options for ambushes and hiding and general shenanigans <3
