The Future of Set Pieces and Token Packs
🕑 Added 2016-08-08 09:22:25 +0000 UTC Hi everyone! I had planned to post this last week, but a bad cold threw a wrench in those plans. I'm feeling much better this week, and am excited to talk a little about the future of token packs and unfurnished set pieces!I've been making the multi-level set pieces for a while now, and I believe they're one of the more interesting and oft-used categories in the 2MTT gallery. Personally, I'm a big fan of things you can customize and make your own, and I've been gunning for this by making these pieces as modular as possible. After being confined to bed for two days with plenty of time to think, I've decided to release their unfurnished versions too from now on and release the tokens separately. This way, you receive the modular floor plans you're familiar with, along with the option to furnish them however you wish. That's approximately 187% more customize-ability!
These token packs and unfurnished set pieces are made with virtual table tops in mind, but can also be combined with GIMP, Photoshop or your image editor of choice. I also have a few ideas for a web-based map editor, but more on that later...
I plan to release prefurnished versions to the 2MTT gallery as before, and share the unfurnished versions here for Patrons, as well as the token packs that I create. Finally, I plan to post both to the Roll20 marketplace (soon) and a handful of other outlets, but they'll always be cheaper to acquire here! So they're not quite a Patreon exclusive, but definitely a solid discount!

It bothers me too. The only way I see around it is to offer the map with the light/dark layers separate, which is a bit too advanced for my taste (it's supposed to be *2-Minute* Table Top after all!) plus it would be very clunky with Roll20. It will be something I implement in the map customizing tool that I have planned, but for now we must settle for slightly odd looking props. I suppose it's always been that way for monster/player tokens, right?

It's a wonderful idea. I've strived for modularity with my own maps as much as possible and I'm loving the results. The only trouble I run into is when I use colored versions of the set pieces and I want to use ambient lighting. Still trying to figure that out. Let me know if you've considered the same and your thoughts on it.
