Yeah they probably made that up to make it not seem like it was for copyright. They're not gonna change arakis vision on a whim without an actual legal reason

I thought that as well for super long, I'll have to look it up again, but I don't think that's actually the case, I think it really was more of like,, a weird cultural choice of the translation team, something about them wanting to preserve the japanese version or something?? It was really weird, I'll have to see if I can find the interview again

Regarding Mista's backstory and him not being hit even once plays into the East Asian ideas about luck as a sign that you're on the correct path in your life, following destiny - it's also why Kira was so obsessed with being lucky. Mista just instinctively went into a shootout, walked out without a scratch and went "Yep, I guess this is what I was meant to do".

Actually, I'm not sure if the copyright reason that always gets brought up is the actual reason for these changes That gets mentioned a lot by fans, but I don't think I ever saw an actual source for that claim, more recently I remember seeing an interview by one of the translation directors who said it was an in-studio decision or something, a really weird situation with them apparently doing so willingly?
