This update is available to all Subscribers! Everyone else will get it later on in the week.
This week it's a brand-new conquerable location: Hillside Developments! Complete with a brand new Boss Girl and new skill! Also, a bunch of bug fixes. Like... a lot of them. So many bug fixes. I hope you enjoy! :)
PLEASE READ!
IF YOU ARE ON WINDOWS, LINUX OR MAC IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NO OVERWRITE THE OLD UPDATE WITH THE NEW ONE! JUST EXTRACT THIS UPDATE TO A BRAND NEW FOLDER AND PLAY! THE GAME WILL TRANSFER YOUR SAVE FILES FOR YOU!
KNOWN ISSUES:
Due to the necessity of changing the User Interface some screens (such as the skill, inventory, fighter and crafting screens) haven't had a UI pass and look kinda janky. All this will be fixed in the next few updates, so please bear with me until then. Thank you!
CHANGELOG:
- War Map: New Conquerable location! "Hillside Development"! (Just south of the Manor)
- Boss Girl: New Boss Girl! "Hazel D." in charge of the Hillside Development district!
- Skill: New combat skill - PUMP IT! Learned from Hazel, the new Boss Girl!
- Combat: Reworked the AI a little bit to prevent them defaulting to a single move most of the time (TANK especially has been completely reworked)
- Jessica: You can now call Jessica to the LIVING ROOM any time you like! No more hunting around the Manor for her! Man, she was good at hide and seek!
- Ard & Hana: Now have updated paperdolls! No more bisected Hana in the kitchen. Phew!
- Misc: Highlighted the word GARDEN in the "Learn How to Fight" lead as people weren't reading it carefully and were getting confused as to where Jessica was (fixed in 0.17.8b)
- Bug: Fixed a situation in which you could get soft-locked in the Dungeon. Uh-oh!
- Bug: Fixed a UI issue where "(iExit)" was appearing on Wardrobe options
- Bug: Fixed an issue where Jessica would sometimes pop up during battle. Don't be a helicopter mom, Jessica!
- Bug: Fixed the "black bar at bottom of screen" bug! (fixed in 0.17.8b)
- Bug: You could recruit the Boss Girl multiple times from the dungeon. No more clones! (fixed in 0.17.8b)
- Bug: You could "Mount an Attack" before doing the battle tutorial in the garden, which would mess up progression (fixed in 0.17.8b)
- Bug: The lab background wasn't showing up in Act Two. Now it is! (fixed in 0.17.8b)
- Bug: Jessica's stats weren't increasing for her naughty bathroom event (fixed in 0.17.8b)
- Bug: Moved quick_menu to the top of the screen and tied its visibility to the visibility of the top bar. Hopefully this will solve the Android "quick menu is blocking stuff" (fixed in 0.17.8b)
- Bug: Gwen & Ami: Kid Detectives approach the creaking cupboard slowly. Is it the missing jam? A lead? A clue!? AHHHH! NOITSBUGS! ITSBUUUUUUGS!
I hope you enjoy this week's update! Next Early Access update will be Monday, 13th of March.

The perma black bar will be slowly removed from existing renders (you'll see that newer scenes don't have it) so there isn't such an odd overlap and that more of the top of the screen is revealed. Removing the "cinematic" bars and using the new system actually allows for more of the render to be visible when middle-mouse clicking (or tapping "hide"), with the entire image now being viewable rather than permanently letterboxed. This was all done in order to allow the paperdoll system to shine, which is A) the only way to ensure the game doesn't creep above 2GB (the Android max) and B) allows for significantly more events to be created in a shorter space of time, and C) allowed for the addition of the Boss Girls, which would have been impossible due to bloat on the old design. Sorry that it's not to your taste, but I hope you come to like it as the jarring nature of the change becomes softened over time :)

When talking to people, could the perma-black bar on the bottom be used for the talking like it used to? For example, talking to Gwen has the new speaking thing above the perma-black bar and it now covers sooo much of the screen. With that example, it feels like it would be a text-based game if it were to cover up any more of the render.
It's certainly possible with a number of the Org goons, for sure. Everyone has their own motivations, though: the Org as a whole was created because the Fey represent a potentially world-ending threat (eg. Roxy), The Chief lost his wife because of Fey (heavily implied she died), others may just be bigoted or scared (which is usually the same thing) and others may be questioning the cause. Being jilted or cuckolded by Fey is almost certainly the motivation for a few of them, though! Would explain the aggression... ;)

i have a theory in regards to why a number of people in the organization specifically the male parts of it joined and are so extreme in their hate is because girls like ended up choosing a fey over them cause jessica's husband is one for sure happened with MC's mother and if i recall right didn't the cheif's wife also leave him for a fey im noticing a trend and the original founder may have been motivated by that and the rest may have been legit concern about the dangerous fey and eventually the majority of the org got taken over by the haters so most future recruits would get brainwashed into similar mind sets instead of a organization focused on guarding against hostile fey and other supernatural entities, with only maybe chloe maybe having justified reasons to hate the fey given apparently her parents were killed by one? least assuming she wasn't just lied to by the organization about what happened to them. also with the making the officers submit somewhat surprised can't choose between shattering or awakening at some point in the process or similar abilities
