I would vote for Esme, almost purely because his clothing and design has no green on it, so it feels like Emerald would be a weird choice; like if an all-black dog was called 'Snowy'. The other reason is that Esmerelda is still the most recognised name for the original book character, rather than their birth name, and if he went exclusively by Agni, it might be confusing. Him being known openly by Esme, but to close friends and lovers as Agni, could be a good middle ground. ^.^ Also, I love your classic design for Esme, but I do really like this new design, too! And I adore your non-standard content just as much as your standard content. Behind the scenes art, re-draws, and more besides; they're all awesome to see and read! 💖

Oops, this option is still the leader. Actually, he could have green eyes. I just did the style in the comic so that everyone's eyes were black. Even Rose's eyes aren't black. Maybe I’ll play this into the plot somehow.

I honestly think Emerald doesn't fit him at all. It's a beautiful name but with his red clothes and dark eyes, there's nothing there that screams Emerald to me.
