I would be cool to have Esme back ! But yeah maybe re-think his design and how he is brought up in the story. Disney had this "exotic gypsy thing", pretty stereotyped, it could be nice to see something different if you want to go on with this

I think you should keep Esme, I totally understand your point but they’ve been around for such a long time already, I’ve grown an attachment and would hate to see them go. Plussss I’m really looking forward to seeing the change you’ll make on them. And with the comic strip? I honestly love it, it doesn’t even have to be anything big like “Rest In Piece” it feels nice to just be able to read something silly and lovely like the fairy bend stuff

I love cute character moments like this. ^.^ I'm undecided on Esmeralda, as you do make a good point about her being a novel character, more than fairy tale. I have always enjoyed your OC and fairy tale characters, though! I LOVE this strip. I think it's totally worth the efforts. Even if you just do a few small pages here and there, whenever inspiration strikes, I've loved what I've seen so far, and I'd love to see more. 💖

I love this so much! And I love Esme, but introducing a fairy tale character like donkeyskin would be kinda cool. If it is a choice between the two though, I vote keep Esme. Esme and Ariel are so sweet together 🥰

.......You know ACTUALLY Book Esme might be interesting to use for the basis of a FairyBend Esme? I know Disney Esmeralda and Book Esmeralda are completely different characters. But a Book Esme that survives the events of 'Notre-Dame de Paris' (Or just use the Adaptation La Esmeralda where they survive.) might be super interesting? There's a lot of interesting character traits to pull from to make an interesting character and story. Someone struggling between cynicism and innate good natured naivete after everything that happened to them would be really interesting in a story. And to be perfectly honest a lot of other characters you would probably be pulling from like Ariel from the little mermaid also originated from a novel. In a way you could consider them to be more 'modern fairytales'.

Fairybend has always been my very favorite of your projects and I'm so happy and excited you're revisiting it in any capacity! I really like Esme, and I think incorporating characters from other kinda of stories and maybe even depicting some of the disney princesses in forms a bit closer to storybook versions is very cool. I've always preferred Brothers Grimm style darker fairy tales to the disney versions, but that doesn't have to be the only source to draw from!

I personally LOVE Esme. The Hunchback of Notradame is technically a novel, too! Maybe not a fairytale like the Grimms Bros, but Esme can be taken from there, too!

More seriously on the topic of Esme. That's entirely up to you and how you want to go forward with these. I personally love Esme but if your new stories are leaning more towards fairy tales including him wouldn't make a lot of sense. You could try and look around for a Fairytale character that closely matches to him and his personality and use that? Other options include making Esme into someone not bound by Fairytales as a kind of narrative 'straight man'/original character of your own design? A kind of storyteller/audience surrogate? Or explain him away as what would otherwise be a side character who's fallen into the main cast?
