I was wearing Slys Greatest Hits LP out in 1970…I was 13.

I'm just thankful Sly was able to share his music with us. What a great childhood I had. I grew up in an extended family where everyone had different musical tastes. I've heard great music from so many decades and genres. I love so many different styles. Sly was included in that childhood! Never got to ee them, just listening on that little white transistor radio. I thought I was on top of the world with that!

You just be Amber!!!

My favorite is "If You Want Me To Stay" and I’ve always felt it hasn’t gotten the love it deserves…so if you haven’t checked it out, you really should.

Also, “I Want To Take You Higher” is another great Sly song if you haven’t heard it already.

I only caught the everyday people reference

You were grooving out so hard you almost forgot to pause haha. Love it!

Hello Amber. Great reaction as always. Sly had been out of the public eye and the music world for decades, and it prompted Questlove from the band The Roots to make an incredible documentary about his life that’s currently streaming on Hulu. It’s worth a watch if you haven’t seen it yet. It prompted a revival of his music, and then we lost him again. Thank you Amber for honoring him.

Great song. That riff after the first chorus was later sampled in Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation”. I’m a pale white guy who dances like nobody wants to watch LOL But I love me some funk and I really dig Sly and the Family Stone. Without them, there is no Rick James, no Prince, no Parliament Funkadelic, etc. Icons. RIP Sly Stone. 🙏

Did you notice that Sly referenced several of hos other songs here? "Dance To The Music", "Everyday People", "Sing A Simple Song", "You Can Make It If You Try"

I was so sad to hear of Sly's passing. He was part of the soundtrack of my teen years, back in the 70s, in OK.

This tune kinda seems to have the funk. Or am I wrong? BTW, the full title is Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin).

I was in a real, real bad way in life--- when I discovered the Sly and the Family Stone album "Stand." To quote a movie Amber just uploaded, that's the kind of music "that truly saves people." Thank you, Sly.
