ππ3rd Anniversaryππ
🕑 Added 2025-05-12 17:50:25 +0000 UTCHey!
As you know, GOATVR was launched officially on 2022, May 12th, exactly 3 years ago.
I used to make smaller releases on this special day, but lately I'm drowning in paperwork and planning due to moving out - which stresses me out for some reason.
Outside of that, I will attend a wedding(not mine) at the end of May, so it leaves me with even less time to create.
So, the anniversary update is postponed to the regular end-of-month update, but maybe I will add a cake to the main menu, who knows? Anyway, new content will come.
Luckily, there is something interesting today that might fit the spirit of an anniversary:

Surprise Lovense Promotion!
That's right, 55% discount if you use the link below. Even if you hate the game, it's a good deal.
Still unconvinced? Here is an unbiased review:
Yes, I own all Lovense Sex Toys. They are the best.

I made a short summary of the wins and fails of Year 3
(I might have missed some stuff)
Wins:
-Many more supporters (yay)
-Graphical upgrades
-Many new characters (with 3-4 positions each)
-Faster statue loading
-Kissing
-Head/Eye tracking (Newest addition, need to update more characters)
-Meta Quest version release (Huge win for me, I was not sure I could pull it off at all)
-Many smaller features and tweaks (Selectable voice filter, graphical adjustments, blacklisting, etc.)
Fails:
-Creation Tools
It's clunky and hard to use. And the currently released version is the updated one, imagine how messy it looked before. Yeah, I can use it fine, and many people made successfull builds, but I don't think it's user friendly at all.
-NPC System
The NPC System's goal was to add random NPCs in random poses to maps, giving them more flavor.
Despite the system is fully functional, I have no capacity to animate and build NPCs in random poses to populate the maps. So it's kinda sad.
-Not enough love to old releases
You might noticed the lack of new animations for previour characters. I feel bad about it, since I always plan to add some animations for them, but I run out of time/motivation after I add 3-4 animation for the new releases.
-No Filters
Do to how bad the statue loading system is, it's impossible to extract meta data from the statue without loading it. Would be nice, since we have 100+ characters now.
-Many failed collabs, which just sucks, man.
Some fails are my fault due to bad planning(In my defense, I still work alone on this, and not in fulltime), some fails are caused by the outdated codebase, which is now a chore to maintain. Which means making a more maintainable GOATVR 2 will be inevitable at some point.
Now, I felt like it's a good time to talk about GOATVR 2, but I have no idea how the next few months will go, so let's return to this topic later.
Until then, new content will still arrive, and you can also expect some polls in the near future.
Well, hope to see you in year 4 too! Stay tuned for some WIPs in the next few weeks.
