Lena Chapter 9 : It's Too Early for This Shit
🕑 Added 2020-02-15 23:38:44 +0000 UTCThis one is on the shorter side, so probably the first half of a chapter, but I wanted to keep the story going. Sometimes I don't know how long a chapter is going to be until I finish the scene, look at it, and then see if it's dragged on for 25+ pages or not.
Hope all of you are well out there and have survived the day of Obligatory Romance. We don't really do Valentine's day beyond getting the kids some candy. Smalls is weird and won't eat certain kinds of chocolate or sweets. He's picky. When he was a toddler he'd sometimes sneak into the kitchen and steal a jar of pickles and then make himself sick eating them too fast. Or sometimes he'd get raw eggs and smash them into the couch. He was sneaky. I almost bought one of those fridge locks. We couldn't keep him out of things. Still can't.
But as for me and Man Friend, it's never been much of a thing. Sometimes he buys me comic books and makes me a card. He has fashioned some really cool little pop up ones for me. One time he jokingly got me flowers and that sterotypically heart shaped box of chocolates and the first thing out my mouth was, "Where are my comics? It's comic book day!" 1) I am an ungrateful jerk, and he knows this. 2) I hadn't had coffee yet and as such what little filter I possess was absent. 3) I don't actually care if he gets me anything. I mean, I like presents. Presents rock. But he doesn't have to get me anything for Valentine's day. I usually forget to do anything at all. This year I actually made a card and it wasn't even milady offensive. Not much, anyway. I mean, I also forget anniversaries. We can never really afford to do anything cool, so at best we maybe go to dinner. This year my mom remembered and took us out to eat, because she's good like that.
I'm now rambling. Anyway, Valentine's can be rough, and I don't think anyone should feel shitty for not being part of a couple or having a date or any of that business. But I hope you all got candy or a jar full of pickles if that's more your thing.
