Do you use the IOS app for Patreon memberships?

I, and probably all the other Patreon people, got these news from Patreon:
A*ple is gonna force everyone who uses their IOS app for Patreon memberships to pay their 30% fee in the future. Meaning it will become more expensive to handle Patreon payments through the IOS app (default option), or they will take 30% from the creator.
If you don't use the IOS app for payments I think you are safe.

I don't think Patreon is to blame from what I've read, they're getting fucked as well.
I'd probably avoid paying through the app, if possible, if I was an IOS user. For example, you can just subscribe directly on Patreon.com

Yeah, as long as the subbing is done outside of the app/apps store, I think you'll avoid the fee

I think there's some ongoing battle with EU vs Apple, but I'm kinda lost when it comes to legal stuff like that.

Is tht legal? Im not a business guy and i dont know much about how the laws behind pricing things work, but that just seems really ridiculous to force their users to pay more based on what type of phone they use
