[Comic Con – Day 3]
The third day of Comic Con began with the same intensity as the last, but by now the chaos had rhythm. Crowds flowed like tides between panels, booths, and photo ops. The air was thick with excitement, caffeine, and the buzz of camera flashes. Every corner of the convention center seemed to hum with energy.
Inside one of the private dressing rooms, Evangeline Lilly stood before a mirror, blinking at her own reflection. The transformation was astonishing. Her long auburn hair had been woven into intricate braids that framed her face. The silver circlet resting on her forehead caught the light with every movement. Her fake pointy ears looked almost real; even the most eagle-eyed fan would suspect prosthetics.
Her gown was a masterpiece of craftsmanship: forest green with silver accents, the fabric shimmering like leaves touched by morning dew thanks to the glitter effect. And the short skirt... Long legs, high-kneed brown boots... Well, let's just say, she looked sexy.
“I could walk right into Middle-earth and no one would question it,” she murmured to herself before taking her bow and quiver filled with arrows.
Behind her, a familiar voice replied, “You might have to dodge a few dwarves on the way.”
Evangeline turned, and there he was. The Joker.
Alex leaned against the doorframe, purple coat hanging loosely from his shoulders, the same chilling grin from yesterday painted across his face. The green hair, the red scar, the manic gleam in his eyes—it was all there. He looked every bit the madman, yet somehow, the way he watched her was warm.
“You clean up disturbingly well,” she said with a small smirk.
He twirled his cane lazily. “And you, my dear elf, look far too graceful to be walking among mortals.”
She laughed softly. “Well, today I plan to. I want to see the convention from the floor, not from behind velvet ropes.”
Alex tilted his head, the smile widening. “A celebrity wanting to be anonymous? How poetic.”
Evangeline adjusted the silver clasp on her cloak and met his gaze through the mirror. “That’s the fun of it. No one knows it’s me. Just another fan in costume.”
He stepped closer, lowering his voice. “Then let’s make it interesting.”
Her eyebrow lifted slightly. “Interesting how?”
He held out his gloved hand. “A walk. You, the elven lady of the forest. Me, the clown prince of chaos. A date disguised as fan appreciation.”
Evangeline’s lips curved. “You call that a date?”
“I call it a perfect cover,” he said, grinning. “Besides, everyone here’s too busy chasing autographs to notice two fictional characters holding hands.”
After a moment’s thought, she took his hand. “Alright, Joker. Let’s see how long before someone figures us out.”

They entered the main floor through one of the side corridors, stepping into a river of people. The moment they appeared, phones lifted, flashes popped, and a few voices shouted in admiration.
“Dude, look at that Joker!” someone yelled. “That’s movie-level makeup!”
“Who’s the elf? She’s gorgeous!” another fan said, snapping photos.
Evangeline smiled politely, keeping her head slightly bowed, her character serene and mysterious. Alex played his role to perfection, laughing manically whenever someone called his name, spinning his cane, and occasionally delivering some dialogue to strangers. And Alex was enjoying every moment of it. It was a change from his usual monotonous life.
They walked side by side through the sea of fans. A group dressed as Diablo game characters stopped to take photos with Evangeline, none realizing that they were standing beside the real future star of The Hobbit and the world's richest man.
“You’re amazing,” said a fan dressed as a rogue character. “You could totally play one of the elves in the movies!”
Evangeline smiled softly. “Maybe one day.”
Alex chuckled behind her, clearly enjoying the irony. “If only they knew,” he muttered.
They made their way to the gaming hall next. Screens flashed trailers for upcoming titles—The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Final Fantasy XII, and an early teaser for Saints Row.
'Gotta play The Elder Scrolls. The Saints Row teaser looks awesome. Maybe I'll drag Alex to play with me. It'd be fun. Yeah, let's do a gaming weekend,' She thought.
Alex leaned over to whisper in her ear.
“Every booth here is a story waiting to be stolen,” he said. “A universe built from imagination and caffeine.”
“You sound like a poet,” she teased.
He smirked. “Villains always are. We just use chaos instead of rhymes.”
They stopped for coffee at a vendor tucked near the Marvel booth. Alex ordered his black, of course, while Evangeline went for something sweet and mild. Fans nearby watched curiously but didn’t dare interrupt.
“Not a bad way to spend the day,” she said, taking a sip.
Alex nodded, resting his cup on the edge of the counter. “Not bad at all. Though, I have to admit, this feels… different.”
Evangeline tilted her head. “Different how?”
He watched her for a moment before answering. “Usually, when I walk through a place like this, everyone’s watching. Every move, every word, every expression. It’s like living under a microscope. But right now—” he gestured toward the crowd “—nobody cares who we are. They just see a Joker and an elf grabbing coffee. It’s... peaceful.”
She smiled, stirring her drink slowly. “So the mighty Alex Wilson enjoys being invisible?”
“Sometimes,” he said softly. “When I can just exist without being someone’s headline.”
Evangeline’s gaze softened. “That’s rare for you, isn’t it?”
He met her eyes over the rim of his cup. “Very. You’d think success buys you freedom. But it’s more like trading one kind of cage for another.”
She studied him for a moment, then smiled faintly. “You hide it well.”
He chuckled quietly. “Occupational hazard. People expect confidence, so I give them that. Even when I don’t feel it.”
Evangeline leaned against the counter, her cloak brushing against his arm. “You know what I think?”
He looked at her. “What?”
“You’re more human than you let on. Under the purple suit and the charm, there’s a man who still needs quiet moments like this.”
Alex smiled, a real one this time. “And what about you? The elf who wants to walk among mortals?”
Her eyes flicked toward the crowd. “I like blending in. It reminds me why I love what I do. Acting, storytelling… it’s all about connecting with people who believe in magic, even for a little while.”
“Spoken like a dreamer,” he said, his tone low, admiring.
“Maybe I am one.” She paused, her voice softening. “But I think you are too. You just hide it behind business plans and perfect timing.”
Alex laughed under his breath. “That’s the first time anyone’s accused me of being a dreamer.”
“Well, you dream big,” she said. “You just build your dreams out of steel and money instead of words and light.”
He leaned closer, his voice barely above the noise of the crowd. “And if I said that right now, my dream is sitting next to me in a green dress, pretending to be an elf?”
Evangeline’s lips parted slightly. Her heart gave a small, surprised flutter. “Then I’d say your dream has good taste.”
He smiled again, his eyes holding hers for a moment that lingered longer than it should have.
Finally, she broke the silence, her voice light again. “Careful, Joker. You’re dangerously close to sounding romantic.”
Alex leaned back, pretending to think. “Maybe chaos and romance aren’t that different. Both make your heart race. Both are unpredictable.”
She grinned. “And both get you into trouble.”
He laughed quietly. “Then I suppose I’m in trouble already.”
Evangeline looked at him over her cup, her eyes glimmering. “Good. It wouldn’t be fun otherwise.”
They finished their drinks and continued on with the date.
Alex walked beside Evangeline, the Joker’s cane tapping against the polished floor with every few steps. She kept her hood up, her smile playful as she brushed past groups of fans taking selfies. They talked, flirted, and Alex even agreed to her gaming weekend suggestion.
“Where to next?” Evangeline asked.
“Lunch,” Alex said. “Preferably something that doesn’t involve chili dogs or black coffee.”
She laughed softly. “You’ll never live that down.”
"Nope. Those retards almost ruined the cosplay event," He replied.
They rounded the corner toward the food court, where the smell of tacos, hot pretzels, and coffee mingled in the air. It was packed, of course. Long lines snaked past food stalls decorated with neon signs and banners.
Alex’s gaze drifted across the crowd, and then he paused, recognizing a few familiar faces.
Near the taco booth stood Chloe, Lucy, and Scarlett, chatting while waiting for their order. Scarlett’s Black Widow outfit fit perfectly, while Chloe looked effortlessly gorgeous in a similar version with white color. Lucy wore the limited edition Widow Suit with blue LED linings.
But it was Trixie who made Alex chuckle. The little girl stood proudly in a weird blue alien costume, a foam ray gun in one hand and a taco in the other. She was clearly explaining something serious to Scarlett, who nodded along as if receiving mission intel.
Evangeline followed Alex’s line of sight and smiled. “They look like they’re having fun."
Alex smiled as he watched the group from a distance. “I never imagined Chloe to be a cosplayer,” he said with a faint laugh, his tone warm but amused.
She glanced at him, curious. “Why not? She’s got the confidence for it.”
“Oh, she definitely does,” He replied, still watching Chloe taking pictures of Trixie. “But she’s usually so… composed. You know, the quiet type who sits in meetings, takes notes, and silently judges everyone who can’t spell ‘initiative.’”
Evangeline chuckled. “So seeing her in a skintight Widow suit broke the illusion?”
“Completely,” he said, grinning. “If you told me a couple of months back that Chloe would wear that in public, I’d have laughed you out of the building.”
She smiled, eyes flicking to Chloe. “She looks good, though. They all do.”
“Yeah,” Alex said softly, his grin fading into something more thoughtful. “They’re like a little family now. Chloe, Scarlett, Lucy... even Trixie. Especially Trixie.”
As if on cue, Trixie pointed her foam gun toward the taco stand and shouted, “For the glory of Planet Qwarkon!” before pretending to zap the vendor, who played along and collapsed dramatically behind the counter. The crowd around them laughed and clapped.
Evangeline smiled. “She’s adorable.”
“She’s chaos in miniature,” Alex said with a quiet laugh. “They probably take turns trying to keep up with her. Half the time, I think Trixie’s the one in charge.”
She turned to him, studying his expression. “Have you ever thought about having... kids?”
The question caught him for a moment. He looked at her, thoughtful, then back toward the group. “Yeah,” he said quietly after a pause. “I have.”
Evangeline smiled gently. “You didn’t even hesitate.”
Alex wrapped an arm around her waist, drawing her closer as they stood off to the side, watching the others from a distance. She leaned her head against his chest, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat somehow grounding amid the rush around them.
He looked down at her and spoke softly, almost to himself. “I’ve been thinking about it a lot more lately, actually.”
She smiled against his chest. “I’m sensing a big but coming.”
Alex chuckled and shook his head. “Not this time.” His voice grew a little more serious. “I was actually going to bring it up after Comic Con. I mean, it's a serious decision and I can't make it alone.”
Evangeline lifted her head slightly to meet his eyes. “Really?”
He kissed her forehead before replying. “Yeah. It’s something I want to do right."
Evangeline felt a rush of warmth in her chest. She didn’t know if it was his words, his tone, or the way he said it without any trace of doubt, but something about it made her heart flutter harder than before.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The noise of the crowd faded to a distant hum, and all that existed was the quiet closeness between them. He brushed his thumb lightly against her side, the smallest gesture, but it made her skin tingle.
Then, as if sensing the moment had stretched too long, Alex grinned and tilted his head toward the taco stand. “You hungry?”
Evangeline laughed softly, still resting against him. “Starving.”
“Good,” he said, still smiling. “Let’s grab something before Trixie declares war on another food vendor.”
She giggled as they started walking, his arm still around her. “Planet Qwarkon demands tribute.”
“And tacos shall suffice,” he replied, his tone playful again.
