That's my instinct as well. Must not compromise pics - clearly expressed. Good option is to do a Text Free copy - But that's hard keeping 2 copies of work - it gets edited right up to release and you change one you gotta change the other too

Yeah that shouldn't be a problem. What many do is release a text and a no text version. Might be able to do this. Also this is just feedback - Its not a race to see who 'wins. The end result will be based on feedback but also what looks best on the finished edits.

If the narrative vote wins can you not compromise the quality or size of the image to make room for the text?

Personally I'm more for just images. Think you have done a good job capturing expressions and movement.
