"Alright," Ben says, pushing himself to his feet. "I'm gonna check out the lake tomorrow. I'll bring Jawleene, she's got those aquatic adaptations; she'll be able to tell if something's off."
Max rises too, his expression firm. "Hold on there, son. I appreciate the initiative, but no. This is too dangerous. You're not going anywhere near that thing alone, and Jawleene is not going either."
Ben's shoulders slump, but he nods in understanding. "Okay, Grandpa. I get it." He knows Max is just looking out for him.
With the Krakken discussion done, Ben’s thoughts turn to his schedule. “Well, I’m gonna call Heartblast out here,” he says.
Max and Gwen exchange a look, knowing what that means. Since receiving the Omnitrix, Ben has made a point to spend time with each of his summons. He figured it was the least he could do. Since Ben first summoned them, they have been conscious inside the Omnitrix, but they can't hear what is going on outside, but they can talk to the other aliens inside the Omnitrix.
Inside the Chaquetrix, time seemed to stand still. Or maybe it moved differently. Either way, it got boring, and the summons were always happy when it was their turn to get summoned.
A burst of pink light illuminates the clearing as Heartblast appears, her fiery form radiating heat. “Hi everyone!” she says, her voice bubbly and enthusiastic. She turns her attention to Ben, her tone softening. "Hey, Ben!"
Laura, ever observant, offers Heartblast a marshmallow from a bag she holds. "Here," she says, her voice soft.
Heartblast's eyes light up. She accepts the marshmallow, holding it out on a stick. With a focused burst of flame from her fingertip, she cooks it to a perfect golden brown, the sugary scent filling the air. "Perfect!" she exclaims. She then offers to cook marshmallows for the others, a wide smile lighting up her face.

Turning to Ben, Heartblast carefully feeds him a perfectly cooked marshmallow, her eyes sparkling. She revels in the simple act, enjoying the warmth and closeness.
Max watches the exchange, a knowing glint in his eyes. "You two are getting pretty close," he observes, a playful smirk tugging at his lips.

She knows that Ben would have to be careful to not hurt the feelings of the others. But, no, they're probably just going to hang out, like they usually do. She's just being paranoid.
Heartblast wastes no time in wrapping her arm around Ben's as they enter the woods. "So," she says, her voice taking on a more serious tone, "Jawleene told me what happened today."
Ben raises an eyebrow. "Oh yeah? She gives good gossip, huh?"
Heartblast giggles. "Well, she was mostly worried. And so am I."
Ben sighs. "I'm fine, Heartblast. Really."
"But you might not be!" Her voice cracks slightly, her grip tightening on his arm. "Ben, you're always risking your life to save other people. It's… it's scary. I couldn't help but worry that someday you might get seriously hurt."
They walked deeper into the woods, the dense trees filtering out most of the moonlight. The only source of light came from Heartblast, who glowed like a candle, and even that illumination was somewhat obscured by the leaves and branches. It was as if the forest was deliberately shielding them from the outside world, creating a space that was intimate and secluded.
Heartblast hesitates, her steps slowing. "There's something… something I need to tell you, Ben," she says, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've been feeling this for a while now, and if I don't say it, I think I'll regret it."
