"Commander, we've lost contact!" Aoi's voice cut through the din, her fingers flying across the keyboard. "We can't track any of them! It's as if they disappeared off the face of the earth."
Genjuro's brow furrowed, his gaze fixed on the main monitor displaying the stadium's aftermath. "Impossible. Scan for any residual energy signatures, teleportation traces—anything!"
Sakuya, ever the voice of reason, chimed in, "Sir, our sensors indicate no anomalous activity. It's as if they simply ceased to exist in this dimension."
Genjuro slammed his fist on the console, the metallic clang echoing his frustration. "Damn it! Where did they go?"
Tsubasa and Kanade exchanged a knowing glance. This sudden disappearance mirrored their own experience during the Zwei Wing concert when Don Momotaro had vanished after defeating the Noise. A troubling pattern was emerging.
"Commander," Tsubasa began, her voice steady, "something similar happened at the concert. After Don Momotaro eliminated the Noise, he simply vanished."
Kanade nodded in agreement. "It was instantaneous. One moment he was there, the next... gone. Like a phantom."

Genjuro's eyes narrowed. "A human? Transforming into a monster? This is beyond anything we've encountered before." He paused, a stern look washing over his face. "I want Kenji detained immediately. He is to be questioned and investigated to the fullest extent. Find out everything about him. Where he lives, who his friends are, what he likes, what he dislikes. Anything could be useful. I want to know what led to him becoming that monster."
He then turned his attention to Tsubasa and Kanade, his tone softening slightly. "I apologize for wasting your time. I was prepared to deploy you both to handle the situation, but these... Donbrothers... intervened."
Tsubasa shook her head. "There is no need to apologize, Commander. At least the creature was defeated, and the city is safe."

A few days drift by, painted with the hum of deliveries and the neon glow of the Peach Hero Guild chat. Taro, ever punctual, navigates the city streets, each package a tiny beacon of joy in his capable hands. He turns onto a long driveway and approaches the entrance of a hospital.
He pulls up to the hospital's receiving area and grabs a small box from the back of his van. As he rounds the corner of the building, he spots a patient.
Hibiki shuffles along the corridor, a plastic IV pole her only companion. Her hospital gown billows around her thin frame, and her steps are uneven. She's trying to prove that she can walk on her own.
I can do this. I need to get stronger, one step at a time.
Her leg aches, a dull throb that echoes the deeper ache in her heart. She takes a step, then another, her face set in grim determination. But her right leg, wrapped in bandages, threatens to buckle.
Suddenly, a hand steadies her elbow.
"It is dangerous to walk around like this. Please allow me to assist."
Hibiki looks up, startled, into the serious gaze of Taro. His grip is firm but gentle, and a wave of warmth washes over her.
"Oh, no, it's really okay! I'm just trying to get some exercise. I'm fine, really."
Taro doesn't relinquish his hold.
"There is no need to feign strength. It is my duty to help those in need."
Before she can protest further, Taro gently guides her forward, matching his pace to her unsteady gait. Hibiki sighs, relenting.
"Well, if you insist... thank you. I guess I could use a little help."

They arrive at the door, and Taro helps her settle back into bed. A tray sits on the bedside table, covered with a foil lid. A hospital meal.
"This is your food, correct?"
Hibiki wrinkles her nose.
"Yeah, but I'm not really looking forward to it. I had one of these before, and it wasn't very good."
She lifts the corner of the foil, revealing a congealed mass of something vaguely resembling chicken and a side of pale, watery vegetables. Her expression says it all.
Taro studies the meal with a critical eye.
"I see. In that case..."
He reaches into his delivery bag and pulls out a carefully wrapped sandwich. It’s a simple thing, bread crusts neatly trimmed, but it looks infinitely more appetizing than the hospital fare.
"Please, take this."

She hesitates, then continues, her voice gaining strength.
"A piece of debris was lodged into my heart. The doctors got most of it out, but there are still a few pieces they couldn't remove. It was too dangerous. That's why I'm here... recovering."
She touches the scar on her chest, near her heart, a visible reminder of that fateful day.
"Before I passed out... I thought I could hear Kanade-san's voice, telling me to live. I could remember them fighting, and thought I also wanted to protect people, to repay Kanade-san for saving me."
Taro listens intently, his face a mask of focused attention.
"It sounds like a stupid idea, right?" Hibiki asks, a hint of vulnerability lacing her voice. "Wanting to protect everyone... wanting to be strong enough to help people... especially when I can barely walk."
Taro's expression softens.
"It is not stupid. It is a noble desire. To want to protect and aid. To be of service. To be a champion of hope. "
His words resonate with Hibiki, a warmth spreading through her chest.

"Yes, Hibiki. We are now friends. I also don't have any friends."
A wide grin spreads across Hibiki's face.
"That's great! I can't wait to hang out more!"
She pauses, a sudden thought striking her.
"Hey, before I passed out at the concert... I think I saw someone. A red warrior, laughing while fighting those Noise. He saved me. He called himself Don Momotaro. I wanted to thank him, too. And Zwei Wing, for fighting. But it was all so chaotic, I never got the chance."
Before Taro can respond, a series of frantic shouts echo from the hallway, growing louder with each passing second.
"Doctor Arata! What's happening?!"
"Get out of the way! I have to save them!"
"Someone call security! He's gone crazy!"
Taro's expression hardens.
"Stay here, Hibiki. I will investigate."
He moves swiftly towards the door, his senses on high alert. He steps into the hallway, his eyes scanning the scene. Chaos reigns. Nurses and patients alike scramble for cover, their faces etched with terror. And at the center of it all stands Dr. Arata, his eyes wild, his body trembling.
A guttural ROAR rips through the air, shaking the very foundations of the hospital. Arata contorts, his body twisting and reshaping itself into a grotesque mockery of its former self.

The Medicalroid Hitotsuki raises its syringe cannon.
"I WILL SAVE EVERYONE!" he bellows, his voice a distorted echo of Arata's.
The syringe cannon fires beams of emerald light at the fleeing figures. Each beam strikes its target, encasing them in a translucent capsule. Trapped and suspended mid-air, the captured wail in terror as their bodies slowly freeze.
"I WILL CURE ALL ILLNESS!" it roars.
Sensing the imminent danger, Taro sprints back into Hibiki's room. He scoops her up in his arms, ignoring her protests.
"There is no time for discussion. We must evacuate."
He cradles her close, shielding her from the unfolding chaos. He bursts back into the hallway. He dodges stray debris and incapacitated people.
