The doctor offers a reassuring smile. "You're in the hospital, safe and under our care. You've been through a lot, but you're going to be alright."
Sam nods slowly, the events of the past few hours slowly coming back to him. He takes a deep breath, relieved to be out of the Revenants' clutches.
Yuna and Gail burst into the room, their faces etched with relief upon seeing Sam awake and recovering. Yuna rushes to his bedside, tears streaming down her cheeks as she wraps her arms around him in a tight embrace.
"Sam! Oh, thank goodness you're alright," Yuna cries, her voice shaking with emotion. "I was so worried. I'm so glad you're safe."
Sam winces slightly, the pressure of Yuna's hug causing him discomfort. "Yuna, easy," he says, his voice strained. "I'm still a bit sore, you know."
Yuna immediately loosens her grip, pulling back to look at Sam, her eyes red from crying. "I'm sorry, I just... I was so scared when we couldn't find you. I'm just so relieved you're here."
Gail steps forward, placing a reassuring hand on Yuna's shoulder. "We're all glad you're safe, Sam. You had us worried sick." She offers him a warm smile, her eyes reflecting the relief they all feel.
Sam nods, offering a weak smile in return. "It's good to see you both. I'm sorry I put you through all of this."
The room falls silent for a moment as they take in the weight of the situation, grateful that their friend has returned to them, battered but alive.
Gail's expression hardens as she processes Sam's words. "So it was Kendrick and Alistair behind this whole ordeal?" she asks, her voice laced with a mix of disbelief and anger.
Sam nods grimly. "Yes, they were the ones who orchestrated my kidnapping. Alistair sacrificed himself to allow Kendrick to escape."
Yuna's eyes widen at the revelation. "Kendrick got away?" she asks, her voice tinged with worry.
Sam's gaze darkens. "Yes, he managed to slip away in the chaos. I couldn't stop him."
Gail lets out a frustrated sigh, her brow furrowed in concern. "This is troubling news. Kendrick is still out there, and he'll likely seek revenge." She pauses, her expression thoughtful. "We'll need to be vigilant and keep a close eye on any potential threats."
Yuna reaches out and gently squeezes Sam's hand, offering him a reassuring smile. "We're just glad you're safe, Sam. We'll figure out the rest together."
Sam returns the gesture, grateful for the support of his friends. "Thank you, both of you. For worrying about me."
Ruby strides into the hospital room, her vibrant orange-red hair spilling over her shoulders. A relieved grin spreads across her face as she lays eyes on Sam, propped up in the bed.
"Well, look who's finally decided to join the land of the living," Ruby quips, her tone laced with playful teasing. "All my efforts would've been for nothing if you'd gone and gotten yourself killed, you know."
Sam manages a weak chuckle, his lips curving into a grateful smile. "Thank you, Ruby. I owe you one for swooping in and saving my hide back there."
Gail and Yuna exchange a look of relief, both women visibly relaxing now that their friend is awake and on the mend.
"We can't thank you enough, Ruby," Gail says, her voice warm and sincere. "If you hadn't been there, we might have lost Sam for good."
Yuna nods in agreement, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "Yes, thank you. We're all just so relieved you were there to help him."
Ruby shifts her weight, uncharacteristically bashful under the weight of their gratitude. "Aw, come on, you guys. It was nothing, really," she mumbles, a faint blush creeping across her cheeks. "I'm just glad I could lend a hand when it counted."
Sam turns to Gail, his expression etched with concern. "The prisoners - are they alright?"
Gail nods reassuringly. "Yes, they're all being attended to and receiving medical care. Thanks to your quick thinking, they're safe now."
Relief washes over Sam's features, and he exhales a heavy breath. "That's good to hear." His gaze shifts to Gail, a glimmer of worry still lingering. "And... what about Jake? Is he...?"
"Jake is alive," Gail interjects, her voice soft but steady. "He's in critical condition, but the doctors are optimistic about his recovery."
Sam's shoulders sag with palpable relief, and he offers Gail a grateful nod. "I'm glad to hear that."
Ruby steps forward, her vibrant eyes fixed on Sam. "So, you're the famous Genesis, huh?" She grins, her excitement palpable. "I'm a huge fan of your work! Can I get your autograph?"
Sam chuckles, a hint of amusement dancing across his features. "Well, I'll be happy to oblige, Scarlet. It's an honor to meet one of my biggest fans."
All of them continue to chat getting to know one another.
