Chapter 48: Celebration
🕑 Added 2024-02-29 00:00:06 +0000 UTCWe arrived back in Mondstadt thanks to Dvalin giving us a lift. The knights and citizens were distressed on our arrival and seeing Dvalin. Jean had to explain to everyone and they all calmed down but were still on guard. Dvalin flew away and went back to his lair, and when the knights and citizens saw him out of sight, they relaxed. The group disbanded and went to get our well-due rest.
Amber and I walked back to our home and we chatted along the way
“It has been a tiring day. We fought an army of hilichurls and saved Dvalin while fighting in the sky.” said Amber
“Yeah… I’m just glad it is all over. I’m still sore after using the new form.”
Amber grabbed my arm and went closer to my ear, “Don’t worry, I’ll nurse you back to full health.” she whispered as she pressed closer to me
I felt my face heating up and did not think Amber had it in her to be so daring. We both arrived home and I got to say it was a very enjoyable night.
It was the next and Amber and I were walking around Mondstadt. We were visiting stalls and watching street performances. The citizens seemed much happier knowing Dvalin wouldn’t attack anymore.
“It’s nice to know everything is back to normal,” said Amber in relief
We continued to walk around and in the distance, we saw Lumine and Paimon. We both called out to them to say hi
“Hey! Lumine! Paimon!” The two noticed us and came to us
“Hey, you two. Are you both good?” said Paimon
“After a good rest and healing from Amber, I’m good as new.” I said exaggerating my movements
Amber giggles at my silliness, “That’s good.” said Lumine
“Have you two eaten yet? Let’s go eat! Think of it as a victory party for what we have accomplished.” said Amber inviting Lumine and Amber
“Agreed! Paimon is super hungry.”
“When are you not hungry?” I retorted
We went to Good Hunter to eat. When we arrived we saw Kaeya talking with Sara.
“Greetings, may I take your order?” Said Sara
“Why so cold? I've always thought that we enjoy quite the intimate friendship.”
“Oh hey, I didn't see you there…” said Lumine sarcastically
“Greetings everyone, I see you all have gathered. Tell me what brings all of the heroes of Mondstadt together.” he said
“Those heroes also include you Kaeya. Why we are gathered is to have a victory feast. Would you like to join us?” I said
“No thank you. I’m just here to collect my thoughts. Besides due to my absences, there is a lot of paperwork for me.”
“So you’re here avoiding work.” I said raising a brow
“Of course not, I’m just taking a break. I’ll have to leave first and enjoy your little party.”
Kaeya walked and Amber was a little angry, “Jeez he is slacking off again. Captain Kaeya always does that, always slipping away.” said Amber
“Don’t worry, Amber his specialty is behind the scenes which I don’t mean behind a desk. You may not see it but he has Mondstadt safety in mind.” I said to ease her
“In any case now that we are here. Sara, can we order?”
“Yes, what will you all be ordering?”
Amber ordered our meals and sat down at a nearby table. After a few minutes, our food arrived and Paimon started eating at a fast pace. I had to quickly grab a few servings before she ate them. While we were eating Amber asked a question, “So. Now the Dvalin’s threat is behind us, what are your plans for the next step?”
Paimon paused for a bit and said “Paimon thinks it's time to leave Mondstadt and keep looking through the seven nations until we find clues about her brother.”
“Huh, really? Oh... Well, I guess this is goodbye for now…” Amber said a bit sad but still supported them
“Don’t worry we won’t leave immediately. We still have more to explore and I did promise to teach Jun about swordplay.” said Lumine
“I see… that's great. Oh yeah Jun, you also said you wanted to travel. Will you be leaving soon…” Amber was a little afraid of my answer
I smiled at her and held her hand to reassure her, “Don’t worry I won’t be leaving soon. I still have to spend more time with you more before leaving.”
Amber blushed and was a bit embarrassed “Mou~ you little meanie…”
I chuckled at how cute she looked at the moment
Paimon and Lumine were feeling awkward “Jeez, these two lovebirds.” said Paimon
We enjoyed the rest of the meal but I suddenly remembered an upcoming event. ‘Were we not supposed to return the lyre soon? And after that was when the Fatui attack Venti and Signora appears.’ I thought alarmed
‘What should I do? Signora is a tough opponent and even with my current strength, I don’t think I can beat her if she gets serious. I could gather more people to confront her but they will question where my info comes from. Do I even need to go through this? The Fatui attacks Venti because they want his Gnosis, an item of great power and proof of being an archon, but even if I stopped them I can’t keep protecting Venti all the time. When I last played the story had not progressed to the point of why the Cryo Archon wants to collect all the Gnoses. It was hinted that it was connected to Celestia but nothing concrete. Hmm…’
Amber noticed I was in deep thought and called out to me, “Jun? What are you thinking about?”
“Huh? Oh just thinking about our next date.” I said teasing her
Amber pouted “Mou~! Don’t make fun of me!”
“Hahaha!”
‘Well… let's see how it goes. My priority will be protecting Venti from further harm. Even when they get the Gnosis, if I stick with Lumine long enough I will find out what they're planning. If it is something dangerous I will stop them. This is also a chance for me to fare against a harbinger.”
We finished eating all of the food and we all were satisfied
