How I view it is my spankable mermaids do have a derriere and all the fun bits RIGHT before going full into fish tail -- then they have a scale pouch acting as a sorta 'seat of their mermaid pants' lol

Not to overthink it, but if mermaids can wear starfish or seashells as bras, surely they can wear fish-skin pants too? In any case, we are all thankful that the sea has provided such a bountiful booty.
