An Update And An Apology
🕑 Added 2021-10-01 21:12:32 +0000 UTCI'm making this update for a few reasons. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about just how I'm going to get through the ample backlog that I have accumulated over the year and there's no real way I'm going to get through it unless I stop taking Patreon commissions. So, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm not going to stop working on what I owe everyone or whatever comes to mind personally.
I'm not going to quit and I want to make that clear. I just need to stop rewards for... A minimum of a few months if I ever plan to catch up properly.
However, I realize this means that those of you at the higher tier aren't getting what you're paying for or maybe not even what you're supporting me for. And the only response I can really give is to either lower your pledge or unpledge if you feel the need. I know that sounds a bit harsh to say, but it's all I can really tell you. I need to make this step or my passion for writing is going to completely fade and you won't get what you paid for in the first place. (And if you want to simply pledge $1 to keep following things and keep track that I'm actually working on your story, feel free. I'll still keep in touch with emails, but I understand if you want to keep active track)
As of this moment, I plan to do the patreon polling system I had talked about. I recently finished those two DxD stories I had mentioned and a few stories a friend commissioned in order to give me some quick cash so I could cover my bills for last month. So, that hasn't changed and likely won't until I can either find my groove again or until I get through everything I have to work on.
I'm going to cut off Patreon commissions starting in November (October just hit and you've likely been charged for the month, so I'm not going to take the story for this month from anyone). But after that? I don't have an estimate on when I'll open them again. I might not even do it, I do not know at this time. I'll be leaving the tiers up for those that do not mind and want to continue supporting at those prices, but I don't expect anyone to do so.
Now, while I say this, I also will admit that without the money Patreon brings in, I'll be broke and at a loss. So I'll be taking standard commissions, too. They are just going to have a long wait period on them just so I don't get overloaded even more. 3 months or so from the moment things are agreed upon and paid for.
I will admit this is not how I wanted things to go. Not in the slightest. But I bit off more than I could chew this year and it's biting me back harder than anything I've dealt with. As a result, I need to do what I can to counter it and get back to things and nothing has really worked so far.
(I will also make another post later in the month to remind everyone at the higher tiers to adjust their pledges accordingly)
I truly do apologize for things reaching this point. As a one-man gig that's been at this since 2016, I should have known my limits for what I can reasonably take on but I overstepped. It's on me. You've all been patiently waiting and I feel like I'm just giving you reasons to not even want to look at my work again (I doubt any of you would feel that strongly about it, but that's just how I'm thinking.) But I need to do this if I ever plan to get out of this overwhelming funk and to just catch up on the work I owe.
So, once again, I'm sorry and I hope you can continue being patient with me while I get through this. I do plan to get every story I owe finished. But, if not, I do understand and I cannot blame you.
