Update On Things
🕑 Added 2021-05-28 03:06:05 +0000 UTCSo, right off the bat, I want to apologize if what I'm about to say seems like I'm rambling and goes nowhere. I kind of am, but things have just hit that point. I'm currently lying in bed, biting back some shoulder pain.
Come Wednesday, the family will be making the call to put my Grandfather in the hospital (or a nursing home, but I imagine a hospital since the last home he was in basically ruined his ankles and didn't take care of him). Things have reached the point where he is not only wheelchair bound but can't even get out the chair on his own. And since I'm the only one who can hoist him up, I'm basically playing unpaid house nurse.
It takes 20-40 minutes to get him up and ready and in his wheelchair, then I'm needed again 30 minutes to an hour later to get him out the wheelchair and in his recliner because he needs to spend 3 hours a day with his feet above his heart to drain them, and by that point in the day we need to feed him. So we need to get him out the recliner and... Well, you can guess where this goes. All while Grandma gets more and more upset at seeing him struggle. And the whole experience is just exhausting every time and the desire to work just isn't there afterward.
If this keeps up for another month, I'm closing shop. I know none of you mind a bit of a wait, but I despise the fact that I'm having to make you wait in the first place just because I can't find the tome to work. It's incredibly stressful and disheartening. I don't know how I'll get refunds out if I do close down, but I'll figure it out. And I do want to say thank you for sticking with me during all this.
I haven't been able to work properly in almost two weeks for anything other than short, 2k, personal stories just to get work done and calm down. And that was only two stories. So, unless I become a writer strictly doing personal work, I'd need to figure something out.
I'll give another update when the time comes. And I will say the family is really leaning toward admitting him to a hospital, so I doubt I'll be closing shop. But I wanted to say something and let everyone know the chance is there.
I realize at the end that this turned into more of a venting post rather than an update. I apologize for that. I'll be making the most out of what I can and keeping everyone updated on things. Hopefully things look up from here because, at this point, I'm just mentally and physically drained.
On a lighter note: I had respect for nurses in the past, but after wiping an old man's ass as he shits into a wheelchair? Man, do I have even more repsect for them. Always be sure to thank whatever doctor or nurse you see at your appointments.

Sorry to hear about your family troubles, it's a rough ride to be on. And don't worry about venting a bit in your updates, we all need to let it out somehow. I sure hope you don't have to close up shop, but I understand if you do. I wish you good luck in whatever direction you choose to take.
