To have and to hold, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health for as long as you both shall live. This was a vow that Krillin and Android 18 promised to uphold to one another not too long ago. Well technically it was considerably longer that they upheld this vow. But for them the years flew by rather fast. It seemed like by the time they were at the aisle and said “I do”, Marron was saying her first words. Krillin can't even recall when he was actually growing hair. The memories were too flooded with the good times he had, and continues to have, with Eighteen. Of course there were hitches here and there – like some intergalactic ruler from some far corner of the universe with delusions of grandeur and or a deep seated, seemingly unprovoked xenophobic hatred for another species who seeks to rule over every living being or implode the world in a hail of fire until all that's left is ashes.
Regardless, it's been a swell married life for them!
As of now the pair were celebrating their XX wedding anniversary. Again they can't believe they've made it this far to where they're celebrating the day they got married is now in the double digits. But it's an accomplishment they relish. Marron already made plans to spend the weekend with Pan so that left them all to themselves. However Eighteen and Krillin didn't just want to sit around at home, or go to a restaurant. They wanted more. So they decided to randomly pick a place on the map to visit, and if they've never been there they'll go visit it. After a bit of blind darts throwing the little throwing needle landed on their location – Octagon Village. Krillin recalled Goku mentioned going there once and asked him about it. The chow hound warrior spoke very highly of the place and said that it's very nice to visit. As a big tourist town it's got a bunch of fun places packed into a close knit location. Additionally Chi-Chi mentioned the most famous attraction of Octagon Village, which was the Bansho Spa. It was a hot spring that had stress relieving hot waters to soothe both the body and the mind. Just what the couple wanted to hear! So the short warrior and android packed their bags, gave their daughter hugs goodbye and hopped on the first train for Octagon Village.
It was a rather long ride from their bustling metropolis home to the semi-rural tourist town they were going to. But Krillin and Eighteen welcomed it as that meant Krillin could take pictures of the scenery while Eighteen could catch up on the highlights of last week's fashion show on her phone. When they weren't looking at their phones, taking pictures or chatting up other passengers on the train the couple enjoyed quiet moments with each other. They didn't really have to say anything. Just enjoy one another presence as they sat side by side.
Eventually though the train came to a slow, steady stop and the engine gave a loud hiss as it was finally brought to a rest. The conductor – who was a male humanoid ferret – then came to the front and spoke to the passengers on board to describe their current stop.
“Alright, ladies and gentlemen, we're finally here in Octagon Village! And fortunately for those of you getting off right here, the acclaimed Hot Springs Festival that the village holds is in full swing for the whole weekend. It happens once every other year where they celebrate their popular hot spring that is the Bansho Spa that was the building block that gave birth to Octagon as it is now. There will also be loads of fun brought to you by world famous entertainers, games to play and delicious food. I hope that you all have a fun time!” The ferret conductor exclaimed happily. A dozen or so folks then proceeded to gather their luggage to get off, including Eighteen and Krillin.
“Sounds like we're in for a real treat, huh Eighteen?” Krillin asked his wife as he grabbed two of their bags.
“Yep. And if it's just as impressive as the conductor said it was, we may come here again next time with Marron.” Eighteen said with a smile as she grabbed the remaining three bags and joined the line to disembark from the train.
The married pair walked off the train and landed on the platform along with their fellow passengers, then as soon as they exited the door from the train station Eighteen and Krillin were bombarded with three things. Loud sounds, bursts of colors and the aromatic smells of various foods and the relaxing scent of steam from hot water. Once their eyes got the chance to adjust to the husband/wife pair were left in awe at what was before them. One food stand after another, vendors with many wares for your coin to buy, inns of varying kind, cute little houses of the people who call Octagon Village home and even little hot spring streams here and there for tourists to stop and soak their feet for a while. And a few people were dressed up in costumes, entertaining both young and old tourists.
“Whoa...they sure pulled out the stops for this festival.” Krillin said with a look of awe.
“Looks like they did. I hope we'll be able to find a room at one of the inn's here. Otherwise it looks like we're in for a lot of fun, almost as good as that last fight we had.” Eighteen said.
“Jeeze, only you would call that fun Eighteen. I almost got scorched last time. Specifically my hair almost got burnt off.” Krillin groaned, unhappily recalling how their enemy shot a very hot blast of energy that he was sure was meant to roast him more than kill him.
“Don't see why that would be a problem. Just think of it as starting back to square one. Or cue ball one in your case.” Eighteen said cheekily.
“Very funny! Let's go on and find a hotel then.” Krillin said with an amused grin. Second only to her lightning fast punches, his wife could make quick witty remarks.
As they made their way through the mixed crowds of town natives and tourists, greeting people and also accepting any samples the food vendors offered along the way. They eventually made it to a bed and breakfast which thankfully had a few spaces left for them. Better still it was the closest to the famous Bansho Spa. So Krillin and Eighteen decided they would spend the rest of the day night buying a different knick knack from different vendors, taking pictures and of course enjoying the many different festival foods. By nightfall both husband and wife returned to their room at the bed and breakfast, and fell asleep.
The next morning the couple was awoken by the owner of the inn – a spunky little old lady with single streak of red hair in a head full of grey tresses who called herself Vixy – who greeted both Eighteen and Krillin with delicious cups of warm gingersnap tea then led them the dining room where their breakfast awaited them. As they ate Vixy asked the husband/wife pair if they were going to the famous Bansho Spa of their village. Android 18 answered that they were indeed going there, right after breakfast in fact. To this Vixy gave a smile that almost resembled a mischievous grin in Krillin's eyes but he didn't dwell on it. Vixy then gave Krillin a small semi-clear glass bottle. It was very pretty, having a glittery violet color with the body of the bottle shaped like a heart while the neck and finish had a shape very reminiscent to an erect phallus and closed off with a brown cork. Inside there was a colored liquid sloshing inside the bottle.
