TDL Short Story Drafts
🕑 Added 2023-04-21 19:00:03 +0000 UTCI've mentioned before that I wanted to write out a couple shorts before starting up Arc 3! I've started working on one, and while I'm still figuring things out, I'm having a LOT of fun writing the dialogue between the Defectors.
Here's a preview!

It’s a bright spring morning, and the three of them are sitting in front of a giant window, the sun raining down on them warmly. Today’s primary task is a brief daytrip. Last week, one of the FHTC’s top financial backers requested a visit from Sarah, curious about her latest work on Talent suppressor tech. She asked Penwood to accompany her, and Ambre was allowed to tag along after complaining of boredom.
It’s best to keep her from getting too bored.
And so, Sarah finds herself waiting in a hallway to be seen by the company’s top brass. She sighs and glances out the window. It’s a long way down—the three of them are currently up on the building’s 80th floor.
“How long would you be falling if I shoved you out that window?” Ambre asks suddenly. She’s grinning cheerfully—it’s the usual sort of morbid question a kid her age might ask, but those words coming from Ambre are much less benign.
“About eight seconds, probably.”
…Of course Penwood gives it to her straight.
“Don’t push us out the window, you,” Sarah chides playfully. Ambre giggles and shakes her head, but you could never know with her.
