Weekly Progress – Longsword Released, Greatsword Next
🕑 Added 2025-05-17 08:00:05 +0000 UTCThis week, I released Longsword Overhaul: Early Access.
Most of the animations that bothered me while playing Oblivion Remastered—especially for longswords—are now fixed.
If you're a patron, you should be able to download it for free from the shop. Please check it out!
Still, I’ve been thinking… Even the default one-handed idle pose feels too stiff. It doesn’t look like someone ready for battle. Maybe I should fix that too, eventually.
Next week, I’ll focus on the greatsword (third-person).
The idle pose for two-handed weapons looks even worse—like they're not ready to fight at all.
So I plan to improve not just the attacks, but also the idle and movement animations.
Also, I want to make animations change based on gear, like we did in Skyrim with DAR or OAR.
I saw a mod called Female Locomotion Replacer that changed movement based on gender—so I believe it's possible to do the same with equipment.
But honestly, I'm not sure if I can pull it off. I'm just… not that smart.
Still, I really want to try.
If you've ever felt the same, let me know—how do you keep going when you're not sure you can do it?
May the winds of Kynareth give us courage.
