When Shu Yu and the others saw him, Jiang Kuanyu, a group of his subordinates, had just killed a tiger.
Seizing the brief opportunity, Jiang Kuanyu immediately fled to the side.
"Let's go, follow him," Meng Yunzheng said in a low voice, holding Shu Yu's hand and chasing after.
Wild beasts were now scattered everywhere, each with its own target. Meng Yunzheng chose a path that avoided them as much as possible. If unavoidable, he and Shu Yu cooperated seamlessly, swiftly killing any obstacles in their way.
Meng Pei behind them had no chance to act.
The bandit following them and Young Master He behind them widened their eyes, inexplicably feeling a sense of security.
Young Master He couldn't help but pinch his own thin arms and legs, feeling inferior even to a woman. He chuckled inwardly as he looked at the man and woman leading the way ahead, thinking that escaping from here seemed like a breeze.
The thought fueled Young Master He's determination.
The group soon caught up with Jiang Kuanyu.
At this moment, Jiang Kuanyu had no time to worry about whether someone was following him. After all, people from the black market were running everywhere, so being trailed by a few people wasn't strange.
Moreover, Shu Yu and the others were now dressed in black market attire. The clothes Young Master He wore were his own. When they had emerged from the beast camp earlier, he had quickly stripped the clothes off a person to put on himself.
Jiang Kuanyu quickly arrived at the entrance of the storage room where Meng Xiaoshu was locked up. As Meng Pei had surmised, once he regained his senses, his first thought was that someone had come to rescue Meng Xiaoshu.
The door to the storage room was locked, but the subordinates who had been guarding it were nowhere to be seen.
Jiang Kuanyu inwardly cursed, quickly instructing his men to open the door.
However, before they could take action, two hyenas came sprinting from behind at an incredibly fast pace.
Presumably, the large targets of Jiang Kuanyu's group and Meng Yunzheng's group drew their attention, causing the hyenas to divert and charge in their direction.
After spending a night in the beast camp, Young Master He had become extremely sensitive to the beasts.
When he noticed something chasing them from behind, he immediately shouted, "Danger!"
Meng Yunzheng didn't even turn his head; he simply commanded, "Turn right." He swiveled on his heel, splitting off from Jiang Kuanyu.
The others quickly followed suit. The two hyenas, their prey vanishing abruptly, seemed momentarily confused. They were agile creatures, and they did attempt to turn, but they were moving too quickly and overshot the turn.
Nonetheless, it didn't matter much, as there was still prey ahead. With Jiang Kuanyu's group of three, the two hyenas had enough targets to divide.
Although hyenas weren't large, their combat prowess exceeded that of wolves.
As the two hyenas charged forward, Jiang Kuanyu's two subordinates confronted them.
The plan to open the storage room had been abruptly interrupted.
Meng Yunzheng's group turned the corner and huddled against the wall, observing the battle not far away. He narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Jiang Kuanyu ran so urgently to that room, and it's locked. Uncle Xiaoshu should be inside."
"What should we do now?"
"Wait," Meng Yunzheng said, "since we know the location, we'll wait."
They needed to find a hiding spot first; otherwise, if beasts charged in their direction later, they wouldn't have anywhere to hide.
Meng Yunzheng was assessing the surroundings when he noticed a door opposite them quietly creaking open. A person peeked out and waved in their direction.
It was... Xia Yi!!
