Wei Fangfang returned to Donggu County to pay respects to Hu Geng's mother, as tomorrow would be the anniversary of her passing. Before Hu Geng's mother had passed away, due to Wei Ronghua being too busy, young Wei Fangfang would often eat and sleep at Hu's house.
For Wei Fangfang, who had lost her own mother at a young age, Hu Geng's mother was like a second mother to her. Naturally, she would go and pay her respects on this anniversary.
Wei Ronghua stared at the string of copper coins in his hand, unable to help but cover his eyes.
Looking at this generous and considerate employer, he couldn't help but feel deeply devoted to her.
Wei Ronghua wanted to say something more, but Shu Yu had already turned her head and went to find Da Niu. He could only smile and put away the copper coins.
Da Niu was in the warehouse, counting the inventory. When he saw Shu Yu coming over, he turned and looked at her, saying, "I didn't expect so much merchandise to be sold in just one day. I thought this would last for at least ten days or half a month, but it seems we'll have to replenish it in a couple of days."
"Arrange it so that it arrives before the seventh day." After all, the seventh day was the day of Lan Hua's wedding, and they all would be too busy to handle anything else.
Da Niu nodded and continued counting.
After finishing the count on the left side, he suddenly turned and asked, "By the way, where's Yun Zheng? I haven't seen him at all today."
"He went to the government office." Shu Yu knew this. Last night, when Meng Yunzheng returned to his room, he told her that he needed to talk to magistrate Fei personally about the situation in the capital.
Da Niu didn't ask further; he thought it was reasonable for Meng Yunzheng, as a scholar, to visit the prefecture's official.
After finishing the inventory, Da Niu prepared to return to the estate.
Business in the shop was still booming today. Many people who missed the lottery event yesterday came to inquire about it.
Though they were disappointed to learn that the event was only held for one day, the skill of the assistants determined whether they could retain customers.
Regardless of Ren Yiping, An LeTian, or Wei Ronghua, they were all quick-witted and agile, and they would attend to every customer based on their specific needs, trying their best to ensure that no one would leave empty-handed.
Therefore, even without the lottery event, most people still ended up buying something.
Moreover, with so many people who had bought yesterday coming back to tell others about the tasty food, word spread quickly, and many came upon hearing others' recommendations.
Seeing that the shop was busy but the few employees were handling it well, Shu Yu decided to let Da Niu and the others go back.
Tomorrow would be the third day, and it was the day of Da Zhuang's marriage proposal to Zhou Ermei. He should be back preparing for it.
Besides, it wasn't just Wei Ronghua and the other two; Shu Yu and Ying Xi would also stay behind to help.
Shu Yu planned to stay until the afternoon of the fifth day, which would give her just enough time to return for Lan Hua's wedding on the seventh.
During these five days, the shop was still doing well.
Although they didn't earn as much as the first day, there was no shortage of customers. The shopkeeper of the neighboring store was both envious and jealous.
They even found an opportunity to ask Wei Ronghua for advice, but what advice could he give? Besides putting in their best effort, he really couldn't offer anything else.
During this period, another store in the same alley also decided to try the lottery event like Shu Yu did.
To their surprise, the people who had tasted the sweetness of the lottery instantly flocked to their shop, but because they rushed into it, they didn't have a catchy rhyme like Shu Yu's, nor did they have the coveted prizes. As a result, their event didn't turn out as successful as they had hoped.
