Holding the copper coins in their hands, and hearing the clinking sound, the faces of the children flushed with excitement.
This was one hundred wen, and for them, who were so young, when had they ever earned one hundred wen?
They hadn't even earned ten wen before, so having one hundred wen was like possessing a treasure trove.
Moreover, they were still quite young, with the youngest being only six years old and the oldest twelve. Holding one hundred wen made them feel as if they were carrying a mountain of gold and silver.
After Shu Yu finished giving out the money, she wasn't in a hurry and waited for them to settle down before saying, "Thank you all for your hard work yesterday. Keep the money safe, whether you keep it yourselves or give it to your parents. When you go out, don't show the money to anyone. It's best not to reveal that you have it, especially because you're young. If bad people notice, it could be dangerous."
As soon as they heard her, the children immediately nodded with serious expressions.
These children were all smart; otherwise, Shu Yu wouldn't have selected them as her little spokespersons for promotion.
They remembered everything that Shu Yu told them.
The leader of the children even promised, "Sister Lu Xiangjun, rest assured, we'll keep it safe and won't take it out until we get home."
"That's good. Okay, you can all go now."
The children happily left, and before they ran off, the leader asked Shu Yu, "Sister Lu Xiangjun, if there's another opportunity like this in the future, can you hire us again? We don't need so much pay, actually."
Shu Yu smiled, "Of course, you did a great job this time, and now you have experience. If I need your help again, I'll hire you."
The group of children left feeling satisfied, bouncing away from the shop.
Shu Yu watched them go, then turned around.
Wei Ronghua chuckled, "These kids are quite clever. Many customers yesterday said they came because of their recommendations. It seems this method is quite effective."
Shu Yu nodded; children's innocence and enthusiasm could sometimes attract more attention from adults.
These children all came from ordinary families with average living conditions.
For example, the twelve-year-old boy leading them, Shu Yu had seen him struggling to carry goods for others, his thin shoulders supporting the weight. He worked hard, but because he was young and didn't have much strength, even after toiling for a long time, he didn't earn much. Yet, he was ecstatic with the five wen he was given, eagerly telling the employer to find him if there was more work next time.
The wages Shu Yu gave were already quite generous; in this era, even for strong laborers doing daily wage labor, they would only earn three to four dozen wen a day at most.
But Shu Yu always acted generously, especially towards children. She would naturally be more generous with them.
Wei Ronghua didn't say anything about it. The employer made money and was willing to do good deeds, which would certainly bring good fortune in the future.
Didn't he see how motivated the employees were today after receiving their bonuses yesterday?
After chatting with Shu Yu for a while, Wei Ronghua went to work behind the counter.
Little did he know that Shu Yu took out another string of copper coins from the purse and handed it over, "This is for Fang Fang."
Wei Ronghua instinctively refused, "Boss, I already received the bonus yesterday, Fang Fang doesn't need it..."
"Why wouldn't she need it? Fang Fang worked hard in the shop yesterday for half a day. She's still very young and must be tired. If she puts in the effort, she naturally deserves a reward. I originally wanted to wait for her to come today and give it to her in person, but then you said she went to Donggu County early in the morning with Hu Geng. Since Fang Fang isn't here, I'll hand this copper coin to you. You can give it to her, and she can decide whether to keep it for herself or give it to you."
