Madam Tan had made up her mind. Tonight, she planned to cook the instant noodles and let her husband and son taste it, experiencing the excitement in her heart.
With this thought, she urged Shu Yu to get the prize for her and also take the opportunity to exchange feelings with the wealthy wives she knew.
Shu Yu couldn't help but laugh at this. Since Ying Xi hadn't returned yet, she asked Wei Fangfang to watch over the prize booth while she went to get the instant noodles herself.
But as she turned around, she saw Meng Yunzheng standing behind her.
Surprised, she asked, "Why are you here?"
"Today is the grand opening of your store, of course, I had to come. So, where do you need my help?" Meng Yunzheng replied.
Shu Yu had many questions she wanted to ask him, but the situation didn't allow for it.
She went to get the instant noodles first and when Ying Xi returned, she led Meng Yunzheng towards the counter, saying, "You came at the right time. Help Big Brother Niu with calculating and collecting money; it's your expertise."
"Sure."
Da Niu was already struggling a bit. Even though he was proficient in mental arithmetic, the increasing number of customers made it challenging. Especially some customers who wanted various items, not just the snacks worth 200 wens, made the calculations more complicated.
He was worried that he might make mistakes in the speed of calculation. It would be disastrous to make such errors on the first day since he wasn't a professional accountant.
Just when his fingers were sore from using the abacus, Meng Yunzheng arrived.
Da Niu let out a long breath, "Ah Yun, come here quickly, stand on this side."
As soon as Meng Yunzheng took over, he seemed completely at ease compared to Da Niu nervous demeanor. When customers reported the numbers, Meng Yunzheng instantly calculated the values without using an abacus, surprising the customers who didn't believe it until they checked with their own abacus. They marveled, "I bought so many different things, and you can calculate it all in an instant. That's amazing."
Meng Yunzheng smiled, "It's something I've practiced since childhood."
Before the person could say more, other customers were already urging him.
Meng Yunzheng not only calculated quickly but also had the ability to chat with people and introduce products at the same time.
Da Niu, handing over the wooden sign, watched in astonishment. He truly deserved to be called the talented scholar of Central Plains.
Shu Yu only watched for a while before returning to the prize booth. There were too many people here, and she needed to keep an eye on it to prevent any problems.
Half a day passed, but the first and third prizes still hadn't been drawn.
However, this didn't dampen the customers' enthusiasm. They were even more enthusiastic about knowing what the first and third prizes were, shouting out loud in front of the shop.
Madam Tan had had her fill of excitement and was satisfied. Since Luji store had been so busy, she didn't want to impose any longer.
Therefore, when she saw Shu Yu coming back, she bid her farewell directly.
Just before leaving, she couldn't help but ask in a low voice, "So, what are the first and third prizes?"
Shu Yu didn't hide anything; after all, the results would be revealed soon.
Madam Tan clicked her tongue twice, "You're really generous. The first prize will have three winners."
"Well, if you don't take risks, you can't win big," Shu Yu replied.
Madam Tan glanced at the bustling shop and had to nod in agreement.
