Shu Yu was the first to speak, addressing him, "Young Master Wu?"
Wu Fengyuan suddenly realized, "You are... Lady Lu?" He looked Shu Yu up and down for a moment, appearing somewhat uncertain.
Seeing Shu Yu nod, he was taken aback and then furrowed his brows in confusion, "Why are you dressed like this?"
To be fair, he couldn't be blamed for not recognizing her. The Shu Yu before him looked like a married woman, with a few wrinkles on her face that made her seem around thirty years old. Moreover, she was wearing a somewhat shabby outfit with two patches, which didn't resemble Village lord at all.
Not only was she dressed like this, Ying Xi was also. Although Ying Xi still looked like a young girl, her attire made her seem like a country girl.
If Wu Fengyuan hadn't recognized Shu Yu's voice, he might have genuinely mistaken her for a stranger and passed her by.
Shu Yu gave a light cough, touched her hair, and smiled, "I have a matter to attend to shortly, so I temporarily changed my attire."
Wu Fengyuan nodded, not prying further. This was evidently Lady Lu's personal matter.
However, he had some guesses in his mind, probably related to the sunflower field she had come for.
Otherwise, she had only sent word yesterday, so why did Lady Lu suddenly appear here today, seeking him out?
Thinking about it, Wu Fengyuan smiled, "Lady Lu has traveled quite a distance. Why not come in and rest for a moment and have some tea?"
"Sure."
"After you."
The gatekeeper at the Wu residence hadn't heard what they were talking about, so he had no idea who Shu Yu was.
He watched as his young master courteously invited in a woman who appeared to be here for a casual chat.
Entering the main hall, Ying Xi placed the gifts she had brought on the table.
Wu Fengyuan raised an eyebrow.
Shu Yu smiled and said, "I'd like to thank Young Master Wu for personally informing us about the sunflower planting in Donggu County yesterday."
Wu Fengyuan waved his hand, "Lady Lu is too polite. I just happened to pass by, it was no trouble at all."
Shu Yu smiled, thinking that it was quite the coincidence for him to just happen to pass by. If Wu Fengyuan wasn't going to visit his sister who married into the Ding family in Jiangyuan County, he wouldn't usually be around their workshop at this time.
Shu Yu remembered this goodwill.
"In any case, I still need to thank Young Master Wu."
Wu Fengyuan didn't say much more, accepting the gift, and invited Shu Yu to have some tea.
After sitting for a while, he asked, "Would Lady Lu like to take a look at the newly planted sunflower field?"
Initially, Shu Yu hadn't planned to see it. She had anticipated this kind of thing and it might not just be happening in Donggu County, but likely in other places too. She couldn't expend her energy trying to stop people from planting sunflowers, as it would be a waste of time and might not yield results. Her focus was on establishing her reputation as soon as possible.
But with Wu Fengyuan's inquiry, Shu Yu's interest was piqued. She wanted to see how that piece of land had turned out after being planted.
So Shu Yu nodded, "Sure, but will it inconvenience Young Master Wu?"
"No trouble at all. I don't have anything important in the afternoon."
"Thank you."
They didn't delay any longer and quickly got up, heading out to that sunflower field.
The field was located outside the city, not too far away. It was planted on a local landowner's estate.
The carriage stopped about sixty to seventy meters away from the field.
