Xiao Yun was in the courtyard and her eyes lit up when she saw Shu Yu. "Miss Lu is here?"
"I came to see Yuehua."
"Miss is inside. Please come in."
As Shu Yu entered, she found Ding Yuehua lying on the bed, and Madam Ding was watching her as she tried to eat porridge. However, Ding Yuehua seemed uncomfortable due to her pregnancy and couldn't eat much, constantly refusing.
Madam Ding felt helpless, "You must eat even if you're feeling unwell. Look how thin you've become. If you continue like this, your body won't be able to handle it."
"But, mother, I..." Ding Yuehua's words were cut short when she saw Shu Yu entering. She immediately turned her head and was pleasantly surprised, "Shu Yu."
Shu Yu smiled, "What's wrong? Not feeling well?"
Ding Yuehua looked pitifully at her, "I'm feeling really bad. I feel like throwing up when I try to eat, but mother is forcing me."
Madam Ding was so angry she wanted to scold her, "Isn't it for your own good?"
"That's perfect then. I brought you something good." Shu Yu turned around, took the food box from Ying Xi, and placed a bowl of sour and spicy porridge on the nearby stool. She stirred it with a spoon and said, "Smell this. Does it stimulate your appetite? I heard from Ah Ning that you're pregnant, so I asked Doctor Zhao for a prescription. This sour and spicy porridge has a slightly appetizing sourness and just a hint of spiciness. Doctor Zhao said you can have it. So, I had the kitchen prepare it for you early in the morning and brought it here. It's at a comfortable temperature now. Would you like to try it?"
"Yes!" Ding Yuehua smelled the aroma and already started salivating.
Seeing this, Madam Ding sighed and handed the porridge to Xiao Yun.
She smiled and said, "It seems that Shu Yu is the only one who can manage you. I've been trying to persuade you for so long, but it's useless. Alright, since Shu Yu is back now, you can talk to her. I'll leave first."
She said to Shu Yu, "Thank you for this."
"Don't mention it, Aunt. Yuehua and I are good friends. It's no trouble at all."
With the sour and spicy porridge in her hands, Ding Yuehua had already started drinking it, sighing in relief as she leaned against the pillow.
Shu Yu chuckled, "How is it? Feeling better?"
"Thanks to Doctor Zhao. Otherwise, I don't know if I could have kept this pregnancy." Ding Yuehua gently touched her still-flat belly. "When I first found out I was pregnant, I was overjoyed. But then, the doctor in the clinic shattered my hopes with one sentence. He said my fetus was unstable and could very likely miscarry. I was so frightened at that moment, and I don't know if it was due to fear, but my stomach started feeling uncomfortable. Fortunately, Xiao Yun went to find your brother-in-law. Unexpectedly, she met Doctor Zhao, who stabilized my condition."
This child didn't come easily. When Ding Yuehua first found out, she was ecstatic, but the doctor's next sentence shattered her hopes.
On that day, Ding Yuehua's emotional rollercoaster was intense, almost scaring her to death.
"Before Doctor Zhao left, he prescribed some medicine for me, and I've been taking it. At first, I felt much better, and I could get out of bed and move around. But two days ago, my mother-in-law visited, and she almost gave me a fright, causing a disturbance in my pregnancy. My mother got worried and went to your house to find Doctor Zhao. Although there was no serious issue, she won't let me get out of bed for the past two days."
Shu Yu furrowed her brows, "You're in such a state, and your mother-in-law is still causing trouble?"
