She keeps talking about the "strange languages" coming out of the mouths of those around her. Evidently, the transformation into a defiled prevents her from understanding the language she spoke before. She also seems to be hallucinating -- I doubt the catgirls she was fighting really did have "glowing red eyes" Also, a direct voice seems to be talking to her. While that theoretically could just be an internal, irrational part of her made manifest, we can't rule out the possibility of an outside actor directly pulling the strings. > “You were used, Yomi. Let your regrets be ash on their tongues. I only ask your forgiveness.” And that confirms it. Who or what used her? I am dying to know. Also, it seems that despite her earlier sins against Matt, and his warning that "he wouldn't be able to protect her from the punishment that is coming her way", he now wants to protect her. Guess this overwrote that, even going so far as to ask for her forgiveness. -------- Oh, man. When Matt finds out that the defiled he just fought was Yomi ... (I'm assuming there were at least *some* survivors to live to tell the tale) It's good to know that Ruyah yet lives. It seems like Matt might get to meet his first daughter in this world soon. > ‘She promised she wouldn’t hurt you. Look where that got you.’ > ‘The food she served you must have been poisoned. You wouldn’t confess, and she broke her promise.’ I'm assuming this refers to the Prophet who found her. I had thought it might be Saoirse for a second, but at what point would the godess have given Yomi food? In that case, the "you wouldnt confess" in addition to being given food at some point implies an interrogation. I wonder how long her interrogation lasted before she turned into a monster. Was it all done at her house? ----- Regarding Magni's journal excerpt ... Hmm. On the one hand, it seems like he is planning to replicate the process of turning catgirls into defiled. Which seems very unethical, in the fact that it would result in the monsterification of those catgirls and also the potential deaths of whoever the defield run into. However, medical science's history is filled with extremely unethical experiments that nonetheless resulted in positive results that saved countless lives in the future. Maybe he was able to morally justify, at the time, experimenting on a few catgirls to scientifically document what causes them to become defiled with the intention of spreading that knowledge far and wide to protect future generations all of Nyarlea. Obviously that didn't pan out too well, but that may have been his intention. Speaking of experiments ... could the Chikara been one of the defiled he created? Also on the subject of creating defiled, could Emberlynn have engineered the plant defiled that was stealing people in her city.
